49. Dead

Leonardo had no choice but to threaten. Because he knew Dante wouldn't want to come back if he didn't act very hard.

Dante turned to look at the muzzle of the rifle. He smiled faintly, there was no fear showing in the slightest on his face. He looked calm, because he was used to being threatened with a gun.

"You remember, I was the one who taught you how to hold a gun." Dante remembers memories of the past. In fact, he wanted a son, but his late wife only left him a daughter. The girls' part is unreliable. He has really liked Leonardo since he was little, even when Leonardo and Caterina were involved in a child fight, he would defend Leonardo even more. For him, Caterina was always wrong.

Dante is grateful that now his heart's eyes are open to realize how bad he was at being a father. Luckily he still had time to fix everything. He finally realized how lucky he was to have Caterina as his daughter.

The sound of gunfire broke the silence. Dante fell with his head covered in blood. The man immediately fell unconscious with a smile on his lips.

"Who shot him?" Leonardo looked very angry and panicked. The shot in the head was fatal, he didn't want Dante to die. He pointed a gun at Dante's head just to threaten him. He just wanted to scare him, didn't really want to kill the man.

“Who gave you permission to shoot him?!” Leonardo's anger was deafening. His face flushed with anger. His hands were clenched, his forehead twitched. He knelt down, hugging the motionless body.

Leonardo's eyes were red and teary. He was very scared. Afraid that Dante will die. He was afraid that Caterina would blame him. There was a lot of fear in his chest. His relationship with Dante has been very good. Dante has replaced his father's duties in caring for him. It was clear that there were many services Dante had that he could not repay. There was no intention in his heart to hurt that person. He really respects Dante, but in his own way.

"Not me." Ben defended himself.

“Not me either.”

“I wouldn't dare.”

Leonardo's men defended that they were not the perpetrators.

Leonardo almost cried when he thought Dante was dead. However, he still felt a slight pulse.

“Kate will hate you even more if she finds out you killed her father. I already know everything; you hate Kate because you think of her as your father's murderer. She will think that you have killed her father for revenge. Kate's hatred was at its limit now. When she comes to you, there is only one goal in her heart. Namely killing you.” Marco said with great emphasis. He looked at Leonardo with hatred. He hated Leonardo because the man always got what he wanted.

Leonardo looked up at Marco.

“Why did you shoot him?” Her voice trembled as she looked at Marco.

“Didn't you want him to die? I just want to hasten his death. You have made his life filled with pain. It would be better for him to die than to continue to endure the pain." Marco said vengefully.

“Bastard!” Leonardo cursed. The veins in his neck became more and more clearly visible. If he wanted, he could kill Marco now. If he wanted, he could tear the building down now. "I will show no mercy if Dante really dies." He makes threats.

"Sir, you better quickly take him to the hospital before it's too late." Ben reminded.

Marco laughed faintly. “It's useless. He won't survive; I've shot a vital point in his head. There is no chance for him to survive.”

Leonardo didn't want to waste time. He stood up with Dante's body over his shoulder. Dante's blood was now soaking his body. He could take care of Leonardo another time, but this time he had to go quickly to save Dante's life.

'The debt of life must be paid with life.' Leonardo confirmed that sentence in his heart.

Marco took a harsh breath. He didn't know whether he should feel happy or sad now. He was happy because Caterina was not taken away. He was sad because he had to sacrifice Dante's life. Even though they only met recently, his relationship with Dante is quite deep in his heart.

Marco put the gun on the table. He clenched his fists roughly, then ran towards the kitchen. He called Caterina's name in a very panicked tone.

“Kate! Kate! Leonardo came with his men. He made a mess!” Marco ran towards the kitchen.

Caterina turned her head; she looked at Marco in confusion.

"What is it?" Caterina looked at him with questioning eyes.

“Did you hear a gunshot?”

"I didn't hear it clearly, I thought it was the sound of something exploding."

“Leonardo came with his men. He's looking for you and your father. Because he couldn't find you, he killed your father and took his body away.” Marco said with a breath that sounded labored. His face was red with cold sweat coming on.

Caterina immediately froze after she heard that sentence. His eyes were wide with his mouth agape. The bowl in her hand fell without her realizing it.

His father died? Killed by Leonardo?

Caterina wanted to cry and scream, but her voice was caught in her throat. She only had her father in this world, then Leonardo just heartlessly killed him.

Caterina's face was red and wet with tears. He cried silently, then ran towards the exit. From a distance he saw Leonardo and several of his men carrying his father's body. His father's lifeless body was carried on Leonardo's shoulders.

Caterina wants to chase and beat him. However, his knees felt weak and he fell to the floor.

“Dad!” The woman finally broke down in tears after Leonardo and his men got into the car. She cried uncontrollably, because she lost the only family she had.

Marco felt sad and a little regretful that he had done that. However, this is the only way to make Caterina no longer accept Leonardo in her life. He has to be a little cruel to get what he wants.

Marco knelt on the floor. He hugged Caterina's body, which was shaking because she saw her father's death.

“Sorry I can't do anything. I'm useless.” Marco said in a trembling voice. The tighter he hugged Caterina's body.
