Chapter 90

Nicklaus’s POV:

I woke up from my slumber the next morning, and I felt very weak. This was the first time I would wake up after a good rest and still feel tired. My head was aching and my eyes were still heavy.

I can't believe that I engaged Sarah and that she would be my wife in a few weeks while Elena was still in custody. Everything is still happening so fast, like a dream. I wished it was a dream so that I could wake up.

The house and the room felt empty. I remember when Elena and I got married. It was one of the happiest moments for me because she had been my source of light.

She changed me in so many ways. She gave me light and helped me come out and see the beauty of life. I had no reason to live. I was just ambitious and chased after becoming rich, forgetting life also makes the world a better place.

I have always dreamed of pursuing my goals and becoming the most successful man in the world. My father only needed me to produce an heir so that he could pass down his legacy.

That's when I wondered if I ever loved the baby that was in Elena’s womb or if I just couldn't wait to achieve my goals. Which made me wonder if I am a bad person.

I never loved the baby, and I just realised that. I was only after gaining wealth, and I forgot that life is more important. I felt disappointed in myself, and I knew that I could be a better person someday.

I wondered why he was always hurrying me to get a wife and an heir before he passed his wealth to me.

I rolled out of bed and freshened up immediately. I had breakfast and got into my car. This time around, I decided to drive myself and clear my head a little.

I arrived at the office after a short while and into the building. All my employees and workers greeted me as I walked in. All eyes were on me, but I couldn't care less. I focused on my steps and got into the elevator.

The elevator door chimed, and I walked out. I got into my office with my personal assistant following me from behind, and I sat on my chair. I could tell that it was already a bad day for me because the weather wasn't so bright.

It rained all day, and everywhere was cold and lonely. I turned on my laptop and began working. I checked my emails and some blueprints.

I also signed some documents and ensured that the ongoing projects were still carried out correctly. After a while, my tea was served, and I sipped it to feel warm as I worked on my laptop.

Just then, there was a knock on the door: “Come in?” I spoke. The door was swung open without me looking up. My eyes were fixed on my laptop.

Immediately, I heard heels clicking on the floor, which caused me to look up. It was Sarah. She was dressed in a red shirt dress that revealed her face, and her makeup was styled perfectly.

“What do you want?” I asked Sarah and turned my head to my laptop.

“I missed you, Nicklaus, which is why I decided to drop by the office to see you,” she spoke, walking to me and biting her lips.

“Well, you have seen me. Now if you excuse me, I am busy.” I said

Sarah walked up to me and raised her skirt up. “Tell me you don't miss me, Nicklaus,” she spoke; her voice was gentle and seductive.

I quickly looked at her and stood up from my seat. I walked to the other side of the room and poured myself a glass of whisky. “Sarah, not now. You can see how busy I am. I do not want to be disturbed.” I spoke.

She walked up to me on the other side of the room and placed her hands on my shoulder. “Nicklaus, don't be difficult,” she spoke.

I pulled out and walked to my chair. “Sarah, I am very busy. Please leave my office,” I spoke.

She was stunned, and she stood still. Her eyes were fixed on mine. “Nicklaus, why would you tell me to leave your office?”

“Like I said, Sarah, I am very busy,” I spoke at the top of my voice. “If you think I am going to make love to you because we are engaged, then you are mistaken. Just carry my child and give me an heir,” I spoke.

She was stunned to see that I raised my voice at her, and she stood still. Her facial expression hardened.

“We have an interview with the X news today. Are you coming off not? She asked.

I removed my eyes from the screen and looked up at her. “You fixed the interview just so you could chase clout; go there and say whatever you like.” I spoke and fixed my eyes back on the screen of my computer.
