Sarah’s POV:
I stretched my body in happiness when I woke up in the morning. The sun's rays rested on my skin, and I had this morning glow and satisfaction.
I felt really great that Elena had been in the police custody. I rolled out of bed and walked into the bathroom.
I slipped into a luxurious pink knee-length gown. I applied bold red lipstick on my lips to go with the dress and packed my hair in a sleep bun that made my face and jawline stand out.
As I admired myself for being classy, I thought about my mother and all of the things we had achieved together.
I smiled at my reflection in the mirror for being my mother’s daughter before grabbing my purse and entering my car.
I arrived after a short time. I walked with confidence into the mansion, straight up to my mother’s room, with my heels clicking on the floor. “Mother, are you ready?” I called out as I walked into the hallway.
My mother walked out of her room with a black dress that flowed on the floor and a black purse.
“Let’s go, darling,” my mother said, immediately after breakfast. “We don't want to be late.”
I had no idea where my mother was taking me, but I followed her without asking questions because she knew how to play her cards right.
After a few minutes, we arrived at a building and packed into the parking lot.
When we entered the building, I noticed we were heading downstairs. The stairs led us downstairs, and it turned out to be an underground room.
We entered a private room with what I figured to be the VIP room. That was a man seated there, and I could recognise him as one of my father's business partners. He is a very powerful businessman.
“Hi, Mr. Kai,” my mother greeted him as she grinned widely. It's so good to see you, she said. “I see you are ready to do business.” Her voice was calm.
He nodded and held her by the hands to help her sit. “I never knew you had interesting business ideas that you would like to share with me,” he spoke.
My mother kept her glass cup and turned to him. “Sell some of your shares in the Coleman company,” she spoke.
My eyes widened, and I watched her quietly. I remained composed and played alone.
“Why would I do that? Is there any valid reason?” he asked.
“I don't need to tell you my reason. I need 5% of your shares in the Coleman company,” she repeated. Looking at him and waiting for a response. “What’s your response?” she asked.
His facial expression hardened. “NO! I won't do that,” he spoke.
My mother laughed hard and relaxed on the chair.
“Don't be too quick to make a decision, or you will get yourself into a lifetime of trouble that you won't be able to get out of.”
Mr. Kai faced her with a cold and questioning look. “What do you mean?”
She adjusted her sitting position. “Well, let’s say you won't like the Coleman family to find out about your embezzlement scheme,” she spoke with a sly smile on her face as she sipped her drink.
Mr. Kai became uncomfortable, adjusted his position, and sat close to her. “That's not true. Are you trying to blackmail me?”
My mother smiled a little and flipped her hair backwards.
“You can't be a thief and a liar at the same time. I have a lot of proof to bring you down.”
“Have you made your decision, or do you want your dirty business to be all over the news before tomorrow morning?” She spoke.
“I will sell it to you,” he said.
“Good boy,” she said, bringing out a piece of paper from her bag. “Just sign here and we are done,” she pointed out, handing a pen over to him.
He extended his eyes and signed the papers, and my mother smiled. I watched her as she easily made the deal with the man.
“You know your worth. She spoke and stood up. I followed her from behind, and we walked out of the bar.
I kept staring at her, and I wondered how
“Mother,” she said, turning to look at me. “That was impressive. How do you manage to do that?” I asked curiously.
My mother smiled. “Well, the mission hasn't been accomplished yet. Just watch me closely.”
“Mother, please tell me what you are up to. We just bought shares,” I was pleased. “What is this one for?”
She turned to me as she adjusted her back mirror and asked, “Do you want Nicklaus to have mercy on Elena after this? We need to add more fuel to the fire so that she won’t be set free.”
“Now, that's how you get things done,” she said, turning on her car engine.
Just then, my phone buzzed continuously. I looked at the screen to see who it was, and it was an unknown number.
I reached for my phone and answered the call, “Hello?” who is this?” I asked.
There was silence on the other side of the phone. “Hello, who is this? I don't have all day.” I asked.
Immediately, the call ended, and I wondered who it was. Immediately I drove off and reached my apartment. That's when my phone buzzed with notifications.
“I know your dirty secret,” it read.
Sarah was shocked, and she didn't expect who would have sent her such a text message.Just then she received a notification. It was a photo sent from that same number. She quickly picked it up and opened it. It was a picture of her and her mother leaving the underground bar. Her eyes widened, and her jaw dropped. “What?” she exclaimed. “Who is this? This person definitely knows my movement.” I muttered silently. She quickly dialled the number, and the number picked up, “Hello, who are you?” she shouted at the top of my voice. It was Marina that was at the other end of the line. She chuckled lightly and laughed silently on the other end of the phone. She knew she had touched Sarah’s weak point. Immediately she hung up. Marina paced around the room thinking about how to get to Sarah and make her do whatever she needed. She needs the money to pay for her mother’s surgery. She knew that this would be a life-changing opportunity for her and her family. She would have loved to help El
Elena woke up the next day feeling tired and weak. She had not been able to eat anything for two days. It had been hell for her.It was only Alex who came to see her on the cell. She felt rejected and alone. It had been the hell for her, and she didn't even know what to do. Alex had brought up all of the cases against her, and he clearly stated all of the things she had been charged with.Sarah dressed up in the early hours of the morning. Marina walked into her room and said with a serious face, “Good morning, ma'am. I am here to clean your room.". Sarah stirred on the bed. She had nightmares. She couldn't sleep properly because of the person whom she had just paid to keep his mouth shut. She didn't want anything to ruin her plans, and she was ready to go out of her way to cover her tracks. She was already stressed, and her morning sickness wasn't helping out.Marina walked into the bathroom. “Ma'am, are you okay?” she asked.Sarah rinsed her mouth and stood up. She nodded her hea
Elena was so weak as she looked at the ring on her sister’s finger. She knew that Nicklaus had already asked Sarah to be his wife, and that was the end of her marriage with Nicklaus. She couldn't believe how Nicklaus would move on so quickly to the extent of making Sarah his wife. “Sa…” She stuttered, glancing at the ring as Sarah smiled widely as she wiggled her hands. “Sarah, what is the meaning of this?” She asked with tears filling her eyes. “Yes, Nicklaus asked me to be his wife. Isn't it beautiful?” She asked excitedly. Her voice dripped with sarcasm, and she looked at Elena in a hateful way. “You should be happy I am covering your dirty past and making the family proud after you tried to ruin everything,” Sarah spoke. Her voice was full of hatred, and she mocked Elena. Tears rolled down Elena’s cheeks, and she couldn't control herself. “How could you do this to me?” she asked, her eyes narrowed, and she figured something out. “Sarah, did you set me up? She asked with her h
Nicklaus’s POV:I woke up from my slumber the next morning, and I felt very weak. This was the first time I would wake up after a good rest and still feel tired. My head was aching and my eyes were still heavy. I can't believe that I engaged Sarah and that she would be my wife in a few weeks while Elena was still in custody. Everything is still happening so fast, like a dream. I wished it was a dream so that I could wake up.The house and the room felt empty. I remember when Elena and I got married. It was one of the happiest moments for me because she had been my source of light. She changed me in so many ways. She gave me light and helped me come out and see the beauty of life. I had no reason to live. I was just ambitious and chased after becoming rich, forgetting life also makes the world a better place. I have always dreamed of pursuing my goals and becoming the most successful man in the world. My father only needed me to produce an heir so that he could pass down his legacy.
Sarah’s POV:My facial expression hardened, and I screamed in my head. I felt like exploding deep down inside of me.I walked out of Nicklaus’s office feeling angry and upset. I couldn't believe that I dressed all hot and tried to seduce him, but he declined. It is such a shame. He had engaged me, and I only wanted to make him feel better by getting closer to him and making him forget all of his sorrows. How did he reject me? Is it that he could not stand to be with another woman aside from Elena? I have been dying from his touch and hoping that our bond will get stronger since we are engaged, but it just kept getting worse. He seemed distant and away from me. I wanted to wrap him around me, but he was slowly slipping away.I smiled when I placed my hands on my stomach and walked out of the office. I planned how to make him close to me by moving to his house and acting sick. I planned everything in my head, and I knew that with that, our bond would get stronger. All of his workers s
I turned around, and my mother noticed my facial expression. She signalled me to come over to her study so that we could talk about it. I hurried and followed her from behind. I gently closed the door behind me, making sure that nobody was in the hallway. I hurriedly walked to my mother and fixed my eyes on her. She looked at me curiously and gave me a questioning look. “Speak, Sarah. What is it?” she whispered.I exhaled deeply and closed my eyes, gathering the courage to speak. “Someone knows about our secret.” I spoke in a low tone.My mother’s eyes widened, and she looked at me in shock. “What?” she asked, whispering. “How did the person know about it? Do you have any idea?”“I... I don't know Mother,”The person called and sent me a picture of the both of us leaving the underground room after our meeting with Mr. Kai. I became scared and panicked. I paid the bastard off, mother, and I shut him up. Just now I got a text from the bastard saying that he knows my pregnancy isn't f
Sarah woke up very early in the morning because she had been disturbed all night. Her blackmailer kept tormenting her.She ordered the marina to prepare her bath, and she had a hot bath. After a while, she was done and dressed in black sweatpants and a black hoodie. She packed her hair in a messy bun.Marina looked at Sarah’s reflection in the mirror, and she let out a sly smile. She knew that she had been tormenting her, and she overheard all of her recoding of tracking her.She had successfully gotten an apartment in the other part of California and had paid for her mother's treatment. The remaining money will be used to find her lifestyle and disappear from their lives. Sarah stormed out of the house and went into her car. Marina hurriedly took her earpiece and listened to the recordings from Sarah's car as she cleaned Sarah’s room.Sarah uttered the cuss word and turned on her engine. She zoomed off into the street of Los Angeles. She had to meet with her mysterious friend Zane t
Elena’s POV:I woke up very early in the morning when I heard noises coming from the cell. I had not been able to sleep all night long because I had constant nightmares and I was panting.I managed to get a little sleep, which was later disrupted. My eyes opened, and our cell was opened. “All of you, undress and go to the bathroom right now,” the female warden spoke; her voice was loud and stern.I stripped off my clothes and covered my body with my hands. I was still very shy and wasn't used to prison life.“That lady is still a newbie. You better get used to it, bitch,” one of the inmates laughed, and the whole inmates started laughing at me.We went into the bathroom, and I quickly washed up. I brushed my teeth and my hair. It's been a week and I have not had my bath. Our time was ticking, and I didn't want to be sluggish. I washed up and made sure that my body was cleaned. It was always busy here, and there was no room for slughishness. The first time I was sluggish, I was alrea
