Chapter 84

Elena stood there in shock. She didn't believe that these two had been playing her all along.

Nicklaus walked up to her with the coldest look she had ever seen, and tears streamed down her eyes.

She shook her head tirelessly. “No, this isn't true,” she said.

Nicklaus closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. “It is the truth, Elena,” he confessed.

“How could you do this to me, Nicklaus? You made me fall in love, and all this while you have had an eye for my sister,” I shouted.

Sarah shut me up. “I am not your sister. Besides, we are not related by blood,” she spoke; her voice was stern.

"Elena, you couldn't give my son what he wants. Sarah could,” Nicklaus's father spoke while walking forward to Elena.

“Nicklaus I loved you,” Elena spoke and walked up to him. Holding his jacket while sobbing. “We love each other. I know you still feel something got me deep down. We can't let this marriage die off,”

“The marriage is over, Elena. Move on with your life. Get a life and leave me the fuck alone. We are not meant for each other,” Nicklaus shouted. “She should be by my side since she is with a child. Not you,” he spoke.

“So you have been sleeping with Sarah while we were still married; how could you?” Elena asked, tears rolling down my cheeks,

Her eyes widened in disbelief, and her voice trembled. “We fell for each other, Nicklaus. You claimed you loved me.” She forced herself to speak.

“Oh please. Stop it, Elena,” Nicklaus responded, taking her hands off his jacket. “Don't pretend like you don't know why we got married. You didn't honour your own part of our deal, and you used your hands to end everything. What exactly was your aim? To acquire my wealth?” he asked.

Elena stood there and listened to him without saying a word. Nicklaus’s father stepped forward.

“We forgive you for not honouring your own part of the deal, but you know what I will not tolerate from you, Elena?” Nicklaus’s father spoke, and his facial expression was serious.

He moved forward to Elena, and she took a step backwards, “trying to steal from the Coleman company. All evidence proves that it was you, and you will rot in jail for the rest of your life. You should know that the Coleman family doesn't mix business with pleasure,” he continued.

Elena turned and looked at Nicklaus, hoping to step in for me as his father spoke, but he didn't. He held Sarah in his hands and watched me from the other side of the room.

All the fun and happy moments were all lies. She had been living in a lie all this while. She was being set up and didn't even notice.

“Nicklaus,” she whispered, the eyeglass in her hands falling to the ground.

“Stop dreaming, Elena; if it wasn't for this marriage, you would have the chance to share a space with me and look me in the eye. Stop being delusional. You are living in a dream. Wake up and face reality,” he spoke.

Her breath ceased, and she tried to control myself, but my strength failed her again. For the first time in my life, she felt like ending it all.

She sniffed and gathered the courage to speak. “So everything—the marriage, the kisses, the moment—were all lies? Everything was a lie,”

Sarah scoffed, “Stop with the useless act, Elena. We don't have time for this. We have a marriage to plan,” she spoke and walked forward to Nicklaus, kissing him on the lips.

She turned to my father, “Father,” hoping that he would rescue her from the pain, but her father stood there and watched them in silence.

He can't help Elena this time around; his company and his life are in danger. He also has a reputation for protecting and a company to build.

That's when Elena realised that she was truly on her own. She had nobody to stand for her. She turned to my stepmother, and she stood there with a smile on my face. I knew she was enjoying the show. I could tell.

“I cursed the day I got married to you,” she spoke on opening her voice and ran out of the house. Alex followed her from behind with her luggage. He tried to stop her so she wouldn't hurt herself.

Immediately, she went outside and saw the police all over the place, and she was stopped in my tracks, her eyes scanning everywhere as she tried to process everything that was happening.

“Stop there, Miss Elena. You are under arrest for theft in the Coleman company. Anything you say will be used against you in the court of law,” the police spoke.

She looked like the whole place was filled with cops. The rich always have a way of ruining people's lives.

She didn't believe that Nicklaus would be this monster.
