Chapter 47

Elena’s POV:

The driver drove us to the house, and we left without saying goodbye. I was feeling uneasy, and I just wanted to lay in bed and have a good rest.

My energy reduced, and I rested my head on Nicklaus’ chest. While I tried to close my eyes to get some rest, I couldn't wait to get home. I was feeling so uncomfortable and my stomach was starting to ache a little.

We arrived at the mansion, and the driver parked in front of the building. Nicklaus got out of the car and helped me get out too. He held my hands, and we walked slowly into the building.

I couldn't take it anymore. I was too weak to climb the stairs, so I sat on the couch in the living room. Nicklaus's facial expression turned serious, and he squatted in front of me.

“Elena, are you sure you are doing okay? Would you like me to take you upstairs?” he asked.

I shook my head. “I just need to catch my breath,” I said, closing my eyes and resting my head on the couch. I took in a few deep breaths to calm myself down, but it was only getting worse. I started feeling hot, and my body temperature was rising.

He held me close to him, and I was about to relax in his arms when I got a contraction. I pulled away and whined in pain so Nicklaus wouldn't notice my pain. At some point, I would feel feverish, and my teeth were gnashing.

The pain subsided, and I rested on his chest, but the contraction tightened again. It was so intense.

“Oh!” I blurted it out after holding it in for so long. I tried to lift my legs, but I couldn't lift them. I pressed, losing a thin line.

Nicklaus noticed how uncomfortable I was, and he looked at me in the face. He noticed my facial expression.

“Elena, talk to me. What's going on?” He asked, and his voice cracked, and it was filled with worry. His eyes widened as he cupped my face in his hands, and he looked deep into my eyes.

“My stomach, the baby. Nicklaus,” I said weakly, placing my hands on my stomach.

“Ahhh….The baby! My belly!” I screamed.

I felt something warm flowing out of me, and I was in so much pain. I felt it with my hands since I couldn't look downward. My pants were wet. I was bleeding.

He picked me up from the sofa and noticed that I was bleeding. His eyes widened, and his jaw clenched.

Nicklaus quickly ran outside and shouted for the driver to get the car ready.

I was filled with fear; whatever it was, I knew bleeding during pregnancy didn't work together.

Nicklaus noticed, and I could see fear on his face. He looked really scared. He gently took me to the waiting car.

At that point, I became very weak, and I passed out. I was covered in complete darkness.
