Sarah’s POV:
I woke up very early in the morning. It's been a few days since Nicklaus travelled to Oregon, and I also got devastating news that Elena had been in Oregon.
I had been so restless all night long, and I couldn't sleep peacefully. I stirred on the bed when I heard my child crying, “Penelope.” I called one of the maids.
She hurriedly walked into the room. "Good morning, ma'am; you sent for me,”
“Go take care of that child. I do not want to hear her cry this morning,”
“Right away, ma'am,” she said and hurriedly walked out of the room.
I buried my head in the pillow to block away the noise from her cries. It was beginning to get annoying. I couldn't help but wonder how women manage to nurse babies again.
“I can't give birth again. Not with this kind of noise,” I yelled and stepped into the bathroom.
I was so angry that Nicklaus left me for Elena. What if they reconnect over there? Would that be the end of me and this marriage?
I wondered to myself, but I shook my head and tried to convince myself that they wouldn't meet. “No, they can have an encounter together,”
After having my bath, I wrapped a fluffy blue robe around my body and walked into the closet.
The concealer did a great job of hiding my dark circles and eye bag. I was dressed in a red dress.
I grabbed my phone and paced around the room barefoot as I waited for news from my boys.
“What the hell am I paying these guys for? They are becoming slow and unreliable. Damn it.” I shouted.
Just the! My phone beeped with a notification when I saw that it was a picture. I tapped on the image to see Elena with a man inside a car.
I narrowed my eyes and tried to look clearly.
Elena got out of the car together with the man into the house, holding hands, and after a few minutes, the man walked out of the house and zoomed off.
“Who could that man be? This video was taken from afar. I wish I could see him clearly. I will make sure I get to the root of this.”
I called the boys in Oregon. “Did you follow that guy?” I asked.
"No, ma'am, we only focused on Elena,” she replied.
“You bastards. I paid you to carry out full investigations. You need to know who she converses with and what she does. I need to know every single person in her life,” I shouted and hung up the call.
I took in a few deep breaths, and I exhaled gently. I tried to keep calm about the whole situation. “What if it was Nicklaus and Elena? Had they reconciled? How did Elena survive these five years?” I muttered to myself, my eyes darting around the closet.
I quickly slipped into my heels and walked out of the house with my heels clicking on the floor.
I got into my car and zoomed off to my family’s house. After a short while, I arrived there.
I got out of the car and rushed into the building. She was seated in the dining room with my father as they had dinner.
“Good day, Mum, good day, father,” I greeted and faked a smile on my face. I joined them for dinner, and we chatted and laughed.
After dinner, my mother and I walked into the quiet garden where there was nobody to hear our conversations.
Immediately, I turned to her and out in the long face that I had been trying to hide during dinner.
“Mother, I have something to show you,”
"Why the look on that face? What do you have to show me?
I brought out the phone and showed her the video. “I found out Elena stayed in Oregon, and Nicklaus travelled to Oregon a few days ago. Elena is with a man; could he be Nicklaus?” I asked.
“Tell me about it; is that her house? Where does Nicklaus stay? Tell me everything I need to know,” she asked.
I opened up to her, and after a few minutes, she smiled. “If that is Elena's house, this is the right time to get rid of her,” she smiled and brought out her phone. There was a calculating look on her face.
She dialled a number, and it rang. The receiver picked up, and her instructions were given clearly.
“I just sent you an address; set the house ablaze tonight,” she spoke and hung up.
I looked at my mother in awe with my lips slightly parted. I chuckled as I looked at her. “Mother, you are a genius. How couldn't I think of all these?” I said.
“That is why I am your mother. Tonight, we silence Elena for good,” she said. “Just go back home and relax. Everything is under control,” is spoken.
“Thank you so much, Mother,” I said and walked to the car.
I drove back home feeling happy that everything was being taken care of. In the next few minutes, you will be gone for good.” I muttered.
My mother is so good at this game, and she has trusted people all over the world who could do her work.
I arrived back at the mansion and was about to step inside when I saw a fleet of cars in front of the pouch. I walked into the sitting room and my eyes fell on Nicklaus.
Immediately, I startled.
Nicklaus’s POV: I sat on the sofa with my little daughter, Amelia, as I watched her play with her toys. She looked so adorable, and I smiled while watching her. I had been waiting for Sarah's arrival for a few hours. I couldn't believe she would leave her little daughter alone and go on with her daily business. I Sarah had been so distant with her daughter, Amelia, and she never paid attention to her. I couldn't help but wonder what sort of mother Sarah was.She would go out partying and even spend weeks on a vacation. She will always leave Amelia in the hands of a nanny. Chef Henry walked to me in the sitting room. “Mr. Nicklaus, dinner is ready,”“Perfect, thank you, Henry,” I said and turned to Amelia, “common baby girl. Are you ready to eat dinner?” I asked.“Yes, daddy. I love having you around,” she said, and I nodded my head and kissed her on the forehead.“I will always be here for you. Never forget that,” I said. “Alright, let's go eat something,” I said, holding her ha
Elena’s POV:“Thank you so much. Dinner was delicious, but I should get going,” Sam said.“Uncle Sam, wouldn't you like to stay back with us so that we can watch animation together?” Wave said as he walked to Sam, “Uh…” Sam gave me a side look, and I shook my head. “Wave, I don't think that is a good idea tonight. Your school is on holiday, but you need to go to bed early,” he spoke gently. I walked up to wave and ruffled my hands through his hair. “He is right, son. You still have to go to bed early, even if you are on holiday; you can watch whatever you want to watch tomorrow. I promise.”“But I am not feeling sleepy, mummy.” “Don't you want to grow bigger and taller like Uncle Same someday?” I asked."Yes, Mummy, I want to be bigger and taller,” he said excitedly. “Then you have to get some rest, darling. Going to bed in time will help you grow bigger and stronger. I want to be like Uncle Sam and Uncle Nicklaus when I grow up,” he said.I gave Zoey and Sam an awkward look. I co
I stirred on my bed in my deep sleep, and when I perceived some awful smell, it wafted into my nostrils. I tried to brush it off, thinking it was nothing. turned to the other side of the bed and cuddled me up when the smell became pungent and sweat was beginning to gather on my forehead and the top of my lips as my body responded.I brushed off my forehead with my palm when my eyes were opened. My eyes widened when I saw the scary sight. smoke covering the room, I could barely see. My heart raced, and I quickly turned my head to the window when I saw fire coming from outside. The flames were so thick and scary. I quickly opened my door, filled with energy, and rushed to the hallway while I was coughing and panting. Everywhere was filled with smoke, and I couldn't see clearly. My breath was beginning to cease. I rushed to wake Wave up and covered him with a wet blanket. I held him in my hands and ran to the front door. Struggling with my sight, I pushed him out to the front foot, and
The paramedic and the ambulance tried their best to stabilise Elena as they drove to the hospital. Wave was also thoroughly checked, and they made sure that he was okay, but he wouldn't stop crying for his mother and aunty Zoey. After a while, Zoey coughed, and her eyes were slightly opened. “Elena?” she called. She looked around, calling for Elena. She felt relieved when she saw Elena lying beside her. With time, she was stabilised, and her pulse and heartbeat were back to normal. She looked over to see Wave tearing up, and she looked down at Elena lying on the stretcher as the rest of the paramedics tried to revive her.Her eyes became watery, and she stood up and wrapped her arms around him tightly. She gave him a gentle kiss on his hair. “Mummy is going to be alright; let's have faith,” she said, gently squeezing his hands. They both held Elena’s hands, and after a short while, they arrived at the hospital. They got down, and the paramedics rushed Elena into the hospital in a ha
Mr. Williams sat in the study after dinner as he tried to do some research and the live news channel was on.He felt lonely and alone. He sighed when he remembered how Elena used to run his company back in the day, and he took it for granted. He regrets his actions and he misses Elena dearly. He wished he stood by her five years ago. Maybe things wouldn't have been like this. Sarah had no idea about the company. The news showed a live house had been burnt down in Oregon just a few minutes ago. He watched it for a while, and he shook his head. “That is not good. It was clearly a planned work,” he decided to turn off the TV and focus on the world to avoid getting distracted. He looked at his desk to see that he had brought out the wrong document from the library. “Oh no, my bad, the wrong document. No, I have to find the right document in the library,” he signed.“I wish Sarah was hard-working and competent; she would have taken over me. Now I am too old and weak. Who would help run t
Sarah’s POV:After my mother hung up on me, I decided to call her back, but nobody was picking up. I called the house, and one of the maids answered the phone.“Where is my mother? What could have happened?” I wondered as my eyes darted around the room. I hope she wasn't caught. I thought to myself as I called my father’s mansion. “I want to speak to my mother right now,” I ordered. “Mr. Coleman, Mr. Williams just had a heart attack. He had been taken to the hospital,” the maid responded urgently. My eyes widened, and the phone dropped from my hands to the bed.My jaw dropped, and I didn't know what to say. I hurriedly grabbed my keys and stormed out of the house. I knew exactly the hospital that they would be, so I zoomed off. While on the way, I could not help but ask myself multiple questions. Why would my father have a heart attack? I had dinner with him, and he was doing just fine. What could be going on?My hands were trembling, and I was already feeling cold. I just hoped th
Elena’s POV:Beep beep beepI heard the sound of a beeping monitor while I lay on the bed. I slowly blinked my eyes and opened my eyes to the sound of the beep when I saw myself in the hospital bed. I narrowed my eyes and looked down to see Wave seated beside me. His hands were gently on mine, and he looked at me intently. A little smile appeared on his face. “Mummy! Mummy! You're awake!” he shouted as his eyes lit up. “Aunty Zoey. Mummy is awake.” He shouted, and immediately, the door opened, and Zoey stepped inside the room. The room was decorated with flowers and balloons. I was in awe. “Hello Elena,” Zoey said as she walked in with a smile on her face. “You gave us a scare,” she said. “How do you feel?” “I was also scared. How are you doing?” I asked; my voice was a little hoarse from dehydration. My smile was weak. “I'm fine; we are doing fine,” she replied.I adjusted myself and sat upright. “My baby boy, are you doing fine? Hope you we rent hurt?” I asked, my eyes scanning
Nicklaus’s POV:I wrapped my arms around Wave, and I felt something move inside of me. This is my first time being in close contact with him, and it felt like I had known him forever. I couldn't explain why I felt so attached to him already.I pulled away, and I noticed Elena’s facial expression. She acted nervous and quickly removed her eyes away from me. I was keen on staying away from her, but not after this. She looked like she was hiding something from me, and aside from that, she needed me. I need to stay by her side and protect her in every way that I can. I am ready to make up for lost time. I have not been able to protect her in the past, and now I am ready to do that. This made me rethink: could it be that Sarah had a hand in what happened? I asked myself, but I tried to brush it off again and focus on Elena.I don't mind if her child’s father, Alex, is here staring at me. His eyes bored into mine. If he loved her enough and claimed to protect her, he would have married her
