“No, no, please don't go away. Don't leave me,” I whispered in my dreams as I stirred on the bed.
I saw a figure walking out on me, and I was pleading for her to stay. I cried my eyes out as I pleaded, but she walked away without looking back.
Immediately, my eyes opened, and I gasped for air. My chest was rising and falling rapidly, and my mouth was dry.
I sat upright when I realised that it was just a dream. The recurring nightmare that I had been getting. I wiped my sweaty forehead and allowed my breathing to be stable before walking to the bathroom.
I splashed cold water on my face and inhaled deeply, trying to catch my breath. I had not had this nightmare for a long time, and I was happy that it had stopped occurring. Why then did I have it time around?
“What could be going in?” I muttered silently to myself, my eyes darting around the bathroom.
Does it mean that Nicklaus wants to take my child away from me? Immediately, I remembered Wave, and I stroked out of my room to his room.
“Jason Wave!” I called gently. “Wave,”
I quickly opened his door to see him lying peacefully on the bed, and I sighed, feeling a little relieved.
“It was just a nightmare,” I whispered and closed my eyes as I inhaled deeply.
“What a nightmare!” a voice called, which caused me to jump. My eyes widened in shock.
I turned around to see Zoey, and I rolled my eyes. “You startled me,” I spoke, and I walked to the sofa.
“Well, you startled me first in my sleep. Why did you run out of your room like that? Was anything chasing you?” She asked as she walked to the kitchen and poured two glasses of water.
“You should take it easy on yourself,” she said, walking to the sofa and handing the glass of water to me.
“Thank you, Zoey,” I said and gulped it down. When I felt refreshed, I looked at her.
“Are you ready to spill now?” she said.
I giggled, and she smiled, “You know me so damn well. I almost got robbed last night, and Nicklaus came to save me.”
Her eyes widened, and she adjusted her sitting position. “You don't mean it; how do you feel now? Hope you weren't hurt,” she asked, and I shook my head.
“No, I wasn't,” I said and narrowed my eyes, “but something strange happened,” I explained.
“What could it be?”
“Nicklaus was dressed as a mysterious man, and he walked out on me. I called to thank him, but he didn't even wait for me to speak,” I said.
“Wow!” Zoey said and sipped her water.
“That’s not it. I also had a nightmare just now, which was why I ran to check up on Wave.” I paused for a while, lost in thought.
“Do you think Nicklaus is stalking me and my child?” I asked, fixing my gaze at Waves portrait.
Zoey shook her head. “Baby girl, you are thinking so much about this. Don't let it get to you. You have no idea why he dresses like that and he only helped you out. You should be thankful,” she said.
I nodded my head. “I will have a word with him in the morning,” I said.
“You better do. Now let's get to bed. We have a long day today,” she said, and we both stood up and walked to our rooms.
I lay on my bed and forced myself back to sleep.

It was a bright, sunny day, and my eyes opened. I rolled out of bed and got into the shower. I decided to take a hot shower to help me feel relaxed. I wrapped a white fluffy towel after that and cleaned up.
I dressed in short denim jeans and a white shirt. I packed my hair in a ponytail and applied a little makeup. I wondered why I was invested in looking good today, but I couldn't find an answer.
I slipped into a boot and walked out of the room. Zoey and Wave were already seated for breakfast.
“I see you both are already dressed up. Hope you both had a good night's rest,” I said.
“Good morning, mummy. Yes, I did. Did you?” wave asked with his tiny voice.
I ran my hands through his hair. “Yes, my love, I said with my eyes on Zoey.
After breakfast, we both left for our various destinations. I quickly went to the hotel and went straight to Nicklaus's room.
I rang the doorbell, but there was no answer. I used my automatic keys and got inside ready to start preparing breakfast and also thanked Nickalus for what he did.
After a few minutes, breakfast was ready, and I set the table. “Mr. Nicklaus, your food is ready,” I said.
The door was opened, and I waited excitedly to thank him, but my eyes widened when a woman dressed in red lingerie, half naked, opened the door.
“Yes, can I help you? I don't think we ordered breakfast. I didn't know this hotel was so generous. I love it.,” she said. “Baby,” she walked inside the room.
My jaw dropped, and my heart shattered into a thousand pieces. Nicklaus had company.
Elena’s POV:I hurriedly walked out of the hotel room and banged the door in anger. Tears were forming in my eyes, and I was holding myself not to cry out loud.I rushed into the restroom and tried to hold my tears back. “No, Elena, you are not going to cry.”“You can’t do this; don’t cry.”Did he do it purposely to get to me? Or was that how he truly was? I couldn't understand what was going on.“How could he be so heartless? I don’t even understand how he still manages to do this. Why am I even getting angry?” I asked myself. I sniffed repeatedly and tried to calm my breath. I shouldn’t be angry. It's his lifestyle, and if he did it to piss me off, I will not give him the satisfaction that he wants. I shouldn't be getting angry or pissed at him. He is out of my life for good. Let him deal with his shit.I walked out of the restroom and decided to take a stroll to clear my head. I walked around the building, enjoying the gentle breeze to clear my thoughts and calm my mind.I didn't
Nicklaus POV:Was she having a secret affair with Alex and looking for how to be free from me? Everything is so confusing right now. What in the world did Alex do for Elena that made her love him that much? If Elena had been with Alex ever since we were married, then I still have to do more investigations to know what exactly. I will hire good professionals who are good at their jobs and digging into every little detail. I remember when I held her hand yesterday and looked at her finger, there was no ring on it, which meant she didn't get married to him. She stayed alone with her son and Zoey, even though my investigators stated that Alex sometimes stops by the house here in Oregon.Maybe he always comes to see his son. But Alex is a multimillionaire. Why is Elena struggling and footing the bills for her son all by herself? Something is not just adding up with the recent investigations, but I am willing to let it go and forget that she ever existed. She treated me like trash, like
Sarah’s POV:I woke up very early in the morning. It's been a few days since Nicklaus travelled to Oregon, and I also got devastating news that Elena had been in Oregon. I had been so restless all night long, and I couldn't sleep peacefully. I stirred on the bed when I heard my child crying, “Penelope.” I called one of the maids. She hurriedly walked into the room. "Good morning, ma'am; you sent for me,”“Go take care of that child. I do not want to hear her cry this morning,”“Right away, ma'am,” she said and hurriedly walked out of the room.I buried my head in the pillow to block away the noise from her cries. It was beginning to get annoying. I couldn't help but wonder how women manage to nurse babies again.“I can't give birth again. Not with this kind of noise,” I yelled and stepped into the bathroom.I was so angry that Nicklaus left me for Elena. What if they reconnect over there? Would that be the end of me and this marriage?I wondered to myself, but I shook my head and tr
Nicklaus’s POV: I sat on the sofa with my little daughter, Amelia, as I watched her play with her toys. She looked so adorable, and I smiled while watching her. I had been waiting for Sarah's arrival for a few hours. I couldn't believe she would leave her little daughter alone and go on with her daily business. I Sarah had been so distant with her daughter, Amelia, and she never paid attention to her. I couldn't help but wonder what sort of mother Sarah was.She would go out partying and even spend weeks on a vacation. She will always leave Amelia in the hands of a nanny. Chef Henry walked to me in the sitting room. “Mr. Nicklaus, dinner is ready,”“Perfect, thank you, Henry,” I said and turned to Amelia, “common baby girl. Are you ready to eat dinner?” I asked.“Yes, daddy. I love having you around,” she said, and I nodded my head and kissed her on the forehead.“I will always be here for you. Never forget that,” I said. “Alright, let's go eat something,” I said, holding her ha
Elena’s POV:“Thank you so much. Dinner was delicious, but I should get going,” Sam said.“Uncle Sam, wouldn't you like to stay back with us so that we can watch animation together?” Wave said as he walked to Sam, “Uh…” Sam gave me a side look, and I shook my head. “Wave, I don't think that is a good idea tonight. Your school is on holiday, but you need to go to bed early,” he spoke gently. I walked up to wave and ruffled my hands through his hair. “He is right, son. You still have to go to bed early, even if you are on holiday; you can watch whatever you want to watch tomorrow. I promise.”“But I am not feeling sleepy, mummy.” “Don't you want to grow bigger and taller like Uncle Same someday?” I asked."Yes, Mummy, I want to be bigger and taller,” he said excitedly. “Then you have to get some rest, darling. Going to bed in time will help you grow bigger and stronger. I want to be like Uncle Sam and Uncle Nicklaus when I grow up,” he said.I gave Zoey and Sam an awkward look. I co
I stirred on my bed in my deep sleep, and when I perceived some awful smell, it wafted into my nostrils. I tried to brush it off, thinking it was nothing. turned to the other side of the bed and cuddled me up when the smell became pungent and sweat was beginning to gather on my forehead and the top of my lips as my body responded.I brushed off my forehead with my palm when my eyes were opened. My eyes widened when I saw the scary sight. smoke covering the room, I could barely see. My heart raced, and I quickly turned my head to the window when I saw fire coming from outside. The flames were so thick and scary. I quickly opened my door, filled with energy, and rushed to the hallway while I was coughing and panting. Everywhere was filled with smoke, and I couldn't see clearly. My breath was beginning to cease. I rushed to wake Wave up and covered him with a wet blanket. I held him in my hands and ran to the front door. Struggling with my sight, I pushed him out to the front foot, and
The paramedic and the ambulance tried their best to stabilise Elena as they drove to the hospital. Wave was also thoroughly checked, and they made sure that he was okay, but he wouldn't stop crying for his mother and aunty Zoey. After a while, Zoey coughed, and her eyes were slightly opened. “Elena?” she called. She looked around, calling for Elena. She felt relieved when she saw Elena lying beside her. With time, she was stabilised, and her pulse and heartbeat were back to normal. She looked over to see Wave tearing up, and she looked down at Elena lying on the stretcher as the rest of the paramedics tried to revive her.Her eyes became watery, and she stood up and wrapped her arms around him tightly. She gave him a gentle kiss on his hair. “Mummy is going to be alright; let's have faith,” she said, gently squeezing his hands. They both held Elena’s hands, and after a short while, they arrived at the hospital. They got down, and the paramedics rushed Elena into the hospital in a ha
Mr. Williams sat in the study after dinner as he tried to do some research and the live news channel was on.He felt lonely and alone. He sighed when he remembered how Elena used to run his company back in the day, and he took it for granted. He regrets his actions and he misses Elena dearly. He wished he stood by her five years ago. Maybe things wouldn't have been like this. Sarah had no idea about the company. The news showed a live house had been burnt down in Oregon just a few minutes ago. He watched it for a while, and he shook his head. “That is not good. It was clearly a planned work,” he decided to turn off the TV and focus on the world to avoid getting distracted. He looked at his desk to see that he had brought out the wrong document from the library. “Oh no, my bad, the wrong document. No, I have to find the right document in the library,” he signed.“I wish Sarah was hard-working and competent; she would have taken over me. Now I am too old and weak. Who would help run t
