Chapter 152

Nicklaus’s POV:

Could it be that she never wanted to have my child in the first place? Was I that mean to her? What is Elena hiding? Who is the father of her child?

I vowed to always be there for her and to protect her, but I failed her. I really want her back. I am willing to take her son as mine.

But Elena had made her choice never to come back to me again, and I will take it like that.

The little boy had the colour of my eyes. Piercing blue eyes. I just wish he was mine. I would give anything to have a child with Elena.

I will speak to Mr. Stone to give her back her full-time job.

I walked to my closet and began to pack my stuff. After the meeting tonight, I will leave and never return to Oregon. I walked into the shower and had a hot bath.

I let the water calm my muscles, and I exhaled deeply. “I love you so much, Elena, and I will do anything just to make you happy. You will always be in my mind.”

After bathing, I dressed in my casual outfit and decided to go out for a stroll. I needed to clear my head and do something fun. I know that Elena would arrive here any minute to cook, and it will only get worse if she senses my presence.

I must avoid her so that she wouldn't feel bugged or disturbed. I walked out and decided to take a stroll around the city. Reaching for my cell phone, I called an old friend,

“Hey Zion. You free today?” I asked.

“Sure man, wanna come over?”

“Yes, man. Just what I need; I will be there shortly,” I said and walked out of the hotel.

I had so much fun today. I wish it would last, but it would not. The sun was already setting on its horizon, but I had to stay back until Elena was finished before I went back to the hotel.

Zion noticing my mood, “Nicklaus?”

I turned to him, and he narrowed his eyes. “You don't look happy. Is something bothering you?” he asked,

I exhaled deeply. “I'm fine,” I responded.

“You have been quiet all day, and you have refused to return to the suite,” he continued.

“Actually, I am avoiding Elena. She works in the hotel. This will be the only way to make her happy.”

“I feel you, man; you hurt her in the past. Just give her space and time,” he spoke, and I nodded my head.

“Thanks, man, I really needed someone to talk to.” I said and shook his hands. “She should be done by now, and the meeting starts at 10. I should get going; see you at the meeting.”

I said and strolled back to the hotel.

I was enjoying the night breeze here. It felt so good. My black hoodie made me unnoticeable, so I walked around freely. It feels so good to live a normal life and not have people and paparazzi bug you. I would give anything for this kind of life right now.

The road was lonely, and a few cars passed occasionally. I looked like a mysterious man as I crossed to go into the hotel when I heard voices two blocks away.

I narrowed my eyes and traced the sound of the voice. “What could that be?”

Immediately, my eyes landed on three men surrounding a woman and were about to take advantage of her.

“No! Please don't hurt me; I have a son. Please, take anything and spare my life,” she spoke.

It was Elena. I quickly ran to the spot.

“Let the woman be,” I said authoritatively.

The men turned to me and chuckled, “And if we don't, what are you going to do about it?”

“I do not repeat myself,” I said firmly.

“Get the fuck out of here, man. It's none of your business,” they said and laughed. Immediately, I punched the men one after the other, and they fell flat to the ground.

“Want some more?”

After a few seconds, the security men arrived and took the men away. Immediately, I ran to Elena, “Are you alright?”

She nodded her head, and her voice cracked, “Yes, I am. Thank you so much, mister. You just saved my ass tonight.”

I stood to leave when she held my hand and said, "Your hand is bleeding. Let me help you clean it up,” she said.

My heart softened, and I took in a deep breath. “Okay,” I said and brought my hoodies close to my face. We walked into the hotel, and she took me to the locker room.

Mr. Stone walked up to us and thanked me, “Thank you so much for saving our staff. I do not know what we would have done if they had hurt her. The staff car is outside to take you home, Elena. Please always ensure to leave early to avoid getting robbed,” he said.

“I will. Thank you, Mr. Stone." Elena said calmly.

My head was bent low; she brought out a first aid kit. “Thank you so much for tonight. I didn't know what I would have done; I should be more careful,” I said.

When she was done, I whispered, “Thank you, and stood up to leave, but she gripped my hands.

I turned to her, and my sweater fell on my shoulder.

“Nicklaus?” She called, and her eyes widened. Just then Sam ran into the room, and he hurried to where Elena and I were standing.

He wrapped his arms around Elena tightly. “Are you okay?” he asked. “I heard about what happened. I'm so sorry; it's a good thing you are fine.”

I gave her one last look before I turned on my heels and walked out on her. She called out to me again, “Nicklaus?” She called, but I didn't respond.
