Chapter 151

Elena’s POV:

Nicklaus Coleman. That name still rings in my head, and the memories of the past with him still replayed in my head like a fresh event.

I will never let him come into my life anymore.

I will do everything in my power to make him believe that Wave wasn't his son. I thought I could handle myself and be strong in front of him, but after seeing him like that and after so many years, something moved inside of me.

I still managed to do it myself and not give him the satisfaction of seeing me break down.

Sam overheard our last conversation. I have not really opened up to him because I wanted to forget everything that happened and move on.

I don't even know how to face him anymore. I don't even know if I want to show myself at the hotel tomorrow.

I changed into some comfortable clothes and collapsed on my bed. I lay my head on the pillow with my eyes fixed on the ceiling.

I walked up to Wave's room and properly tucked his duvet in. I kissed him on the forehead and gently ran my hands through his hair. “I will not let anybody take you away from me. I love you so much.” I whispered and went to my room.

I lay on my bed and slowly drifted off to sleep.

I heard loud noises coming from outside, and I blink my eyes open. I looked in the direction of my room door, and the loud knock was still coming in.

“Who could that be? What in the world is going on out there?”

I yawed and rolled out of bed to get to the door. I peeped through the window to see Nicklaus standing in the front pouch.

“It's Nicklaus,” I whispered.

Zoey narrowed her eyes. “What has he come here to do? I think it is time I give him a piece of my mind,” she said and walked to the door. She was about to turn the doorknob when I held her hand.

“What are you trying to do? I don't want him to know that I am here,” I whispered.

“Elena, just go in and have your rest. I will handle it,” she said.

“Are you sure about it? I don't-”

“I will handle it, Elena,” she assured me.

“What do you want?” Zoey asked as she opened the door.

“Uh, Zoey. It's so good to see you,” Nicklaus replied.

“What do you want?” she asked; her voice was stern.

“I am here to see Elena.”

“She doesn't leave here,” Zoey said. “One more thing. You should leave her alone. She doesn't need you,” she spoke and closed the door.

I slowly got out and opened my eyes. “Has he gone?” I asked, and just then I heard a knock.

“Elena, I know that you are in there. Please, I need to talk to you,” he shouted.

“He is disturbing the neighbours. It's still early,” I whispered.

“Elena,” he shouted.

“Damn it,” I said and quickly ran to the door. Just as Nicklaus was about to bang on it again, I opened it.

I swallowed hard and gave him a daring look. “What do you want from me? Why are you disturbing the neighbourhood?” I asked.

“Elena,” he whispered, and his facial expression softened.

“I said, What do you want?” I asked.

He looked at me and fixed his eyes on the floor.

“If you do have anything to say, please leave,” I said.

“I'm sorry for disturbing you. I couldn't sleep. I just want you to hear me out,” he said.

“Speak,” I said, crossing my hands on my chest. His eyes lightened up.

“I am so sorry for how I treated you back then. It was never my intention. Please forgive me. I can't do without you. I love you, Elena. I have never stopped loving you,” he spoke.

“Is that your explanation?” I asked.

He looked away and nodded his head.

“You are never going to win me back. That Elena died so many years ago. I can never come back to you. Not today, not tomorrow. Never! So stop wasting your time.”

Nicklaus's eyes widened, and his lips were slightly parted. I looked at his face, and I felt satisfied.

“Elena. Please. I can't do without you; I need you.”

“You can't do without me? Do you need me?” I shook my head. “Last time I checked, you told me you never needed me and that you never wanted to set your eyes on me again. Why are you here? You made it clear to me five years ago.”

“I have heard what you had to say. I have also given you a response. Please leave. Let's keep it professional. I do my job for you, and that's it. Stop bugging me,” I said, and I was about to close the door when he held it.

“Elena, please,” he said. I was about to remove his hand from the door when he spoke again.

“I messed up. I regret it deeply now. My life has not been the same since you left. I am ready to do anything to have you back. I am ready to give up the world to have you back, my love,” he spoke and knelt down.

“I was a fool to let you go. I was blinded and filled with hate, please. Let me go back to your life,” he said.

Immediately, I walked back in and shut the door, leaving him alone in the front pouch.

“Mummy!” I heard a voice and I turned around. Wave was standing beside me. “Who was that?” he asked.

“Mummy, who was that? I heard Mr. Nicklaus’s voice. Was he crying?” he asked.

I rushed to him and wrapped my arms around him. “Forget about it, baby. It's nothing. Now let's get you ready for school,” I said and walked him to the room.
