Chapter 144

Elena's alarm went off, piercing through her sleep and waking her up. She groaned in her sleep as she stirred, holding her pillow fight. She still wanted to have enough rest, but unfortunately, time wasn't on her side. She knew that she had to be at work this morning to attend to the VIP guests that had arrived during the weekend.

She reached for the alarm clock and turned it off. She let out a frustrated sigh in her sleep and rolled out of her bed.

She wished that she could have all day to myself, she groaned. “I wish I could have enough time to rest."

She had a very hot shower to help clear the sleep away from her eyes as it cascaded down her body.

She walked to her closet and cleaned her body. She towel dried it before drying it. She packed it in a sleek bun, and she put on denim trousers and a crisp white shirt.

She applied a little makeup to highlight her face and to make her glow all day. One way or the other. Elena had the feeling that today was going to be a great day despite the kind of work she would be doing today.

Since she was the best chef in a restaurant, she had been chosen to prepare the meals for the very important people. She knew that she would be busy with so much work.

She walked silently with her bare feet, barely making a sound on the floor. She hoped not to wake Wave and Zoey up. She grabbed her bag and walked out of the house. The cool breeze caressed her skin, and she hurried to the bus station as she headed to the hotel.

Meanwhile, Nicklaus woke up very early and did his morning exercise. He couldn't contain his excitement. He was going to see Elena today.

He finished the walking pad and his morning push-ups. He felt really energetic, and his mood improved. He wore his best Armani Black suit and brushed his hair. He made sure that he looked good.

Nicklaus had an early morning breakfast with all of the investors, and after that, he would go search for Elena. He knew that today would be a great day for him.

Elena arrived at the restaurant and started preparing breakfast already with the rest of the chefs.

“Good morning, chef,”

“Good morning, Elena,” they all greeted her.

Anna, her colleague, walked up to her and said, “Hi Elena, how was your trip?”

Elena nodded her head as she wore her cap. “It was the best. I didn't want it to end, but I have to get to work. Duty calls,” she said, adjusting her attire.

Anna nodded. “I can imagine. Do you have any idea what we are supposed to prepare for the guests for breakfast?” She asked, and the whole chef turned to Elena.

Elena shrugged, “I have no idea. We could just prepare the breakfast ingredients while we wait for the boss, Mr. Stone. That way it would be easier for us,” she said.

They had no idea what to prepare, so they started preparing the basic ingredients for breakfast.

Just then Nelly walked into the kitchen, and her eyes fell on Elena.

Nelly had never liked Elena. She had always hated her, but she didn't have a choice because she was best among all chefs in her father’s hotel.

“I see you have ordered them to begin the cooking without waiting for instruction,” she said sternly to Elena.

“Good day, ma'am, no. I have not given any orders yet; we are waiting for Mr. Stone to give his border,” Elena said.

“Mr. Stone is my father, and I also have rights to this company. Prepare a perfect American breakfast. The guest will be here in 10 minutes.” she said and walked away.

The whole chef began working, and Nelly stopped in her tracks. She turned around and walked to Elena. “Prepare all of the meals. Let the rest help out.”

Elena opened her mouth to speak as she tried to protest; she knew that it would be hectic for her to prepare all the meals alone. Doing it with the other chefs will be less stressful and faster.

“But, Miss Nelly,” she said, and was cut off immediately.

“No buts. Do as I say, here in this place, you are mine. I own you,”

Elena nodded her head and began working. After a few minutes, the meal was ready.

Nelly sneaked out and poured a lot of sugar into the coffee and a whole lot of salt into the mashed potatoes. She quickly sneaked out with a smile on her face, “Watch me get rid of you. Incompetent fool, she chuckled and walked out. Nelly had already planned how to seduce Nicklaus.

Just when the coffee was served and the meshed potatoes, the investors started choking and kept the food on the table. Nicklaus couldn’t eat the meal because of the excess sugar and salt.

“What's going on? Don't you like the meal?” My stone asked in a worried tone.

He quickly has a taste of the meal, and his facial expression changes. He called Elena in an angry tone.

Nelly rushed out to the meeting room to witness the scandal with her eyes when Elena walked in. Elena and Nicklaus, eyes met, and, for a moment, they stood still.

Her heart skipped.

“Nicklaus? What the fuck?” She muttered under her breath.

” Elena?” Nicklaus called; his voice was deep. He slowly stood up with his eyes never leaving hers.

There was silence in the room, and Nelly shouted, “Elena.” Breaking the silence in the room, Elena turned to look at her and said, “You are fired.”
