Nicklaus’s POV:
“This is not what I asked. I asked to see the company's finances, and you are bringing me this? What is wrong with you?”
“This is the right figure, sir,”
“You got to be kidding me. Why is five hundred million dollars gone in weeks?”
“Are y'all now deaf and dumb?” I asked.
They shook their heads when Joe walked up to me. "Sir, I get a printout of how the money came out and what it was used for,” he said, handing over the copy to me.
I went through it, and my eyes widened. I looked at them. “You may leave; now stay,” I said.
They all rushed outside the office, and Joe waited behind. “This is the 3rd time my wife has been taking huge sums of money since I travelled to Atlanta. Why didn't you tell me about it?” I asked.
“Sir, I thought you were aware. These are what she used to have money for. He spoke and handed me receipts.
My eyes widened, and my jaw dropped. “She went shopping with such an amount of money.”
“This would have been invested for new projects. I already have Sarah all that she needs. Why the hell does she need more?”
“That's how it had been all these years; whenever you are on a trip, she takes huge amounts of money from the company, but this amount is huge,”
“Sir, we are generating more profits, which is why you have received them, but if it keeps going this way, other businessmen will overtake your position as the richest man in the whole world,” he said.
Sarah has got to be kidding me.
“I'm sorry, sir, that's just it,” Joe spoke. “One of the investors had pulled out already when he noticed that the stock shares had reduced.”
So much different since Elena left town. She used to be my backbone. My peace of mind and I thought I would spend forever with her.
Not until everything happened and she went away. I regret getting married to her sister, Sarah. Since then, it has been a nightmare for me. She used to give me peace and also some financial advice, but Sarah couldn't figure out a simple thing.
She had been making me lose money and investors. She wants to make me go bankrupt.
I let out a frustrated growl, and Joe trembled out of fear. “You may leave,” I said to him now, and he hurriedly walked out of the office, leaving me alone.
“Damn it,” I growled angrily and threw my cigarette on the ground.
These past five years have not been easy for me. It had been way tougher than I had imagined. Nothing gives me peace anymore.
I thought it would get better by giving Sarah some distance, but it didn't help. The more information about it, the worse it becomes.
This is beginning to affect me and the company. I have to cut Sarah off and keep her away from my business. I knew that I had to fix everything or else my company would become so weak.
I have not even touched her. I know that sex is great, but I haven't been able to do it with other women in my sober mind. I always get drunk and take mistresses.
Sarah had been living a lie since we got married. She abused her role as my wife and treated others as if they were slaves. She is the complete opposite of Elena.
Five wasted years without a sensible woman to show for it. This is horrible. “My life is a mess. Everything about me is fucked,” I groaned angrily as I walked out of the office.
I hurriedly left the office with my jacket in my hands, and I arrived at the house, cussing under my breath. Suddenly, I heard noises on the other side of the hallway.
I knew that Sarah was with her friends, and they were chatting about heaven knows what while her child was in the care of a nanny.
Just as I was about to walk away and head to my room and freshen up, one of the ladies spoke up.
“Don't you think your husband is still seeing Elena?” she asked. Her question caught my attention immediately. “Wasn't he in love with her then? How did you make him love you?”
“That bitch is gone for good. I don't think he has any access to my sister,” Sarah responded. Her answer made me so uncomfortable. Why would she call Elena a bitch?
“How are you sure he doesn't see her? You know what they say about first live,” the girl said. They giggled, and Sarah got pissed off with the statement.
I was about to walk away feeling satisfied that the girls had successfully pissed Sarah off; she spoke up before I took another step.
“What if you say that she might be dead and forgotten? I made sure of that. I can't let her have all of these while I am still here. I needed to make my moves and find a way to silence her. I have to eat all of his money. I will make sure of that,” she spoke.
I could hear their laughter, and they laughed uncontrollably. They seemed to be so proud of Sarah.
What the fuck have I done?
Nicklaus POV:I tightened my fist beside me, still trying to understand what Sarah meant by Elena being dead and forgotten. Did she kill Elena? I have not heard from Elena in five years. Could it be that Sarah was right? Did Sarah really get rid of Elena? Not only did I kick her out of my life because she couldn't give me a child, but because of the allegations laid on her now I am beginning to rethink things. Elena looked so harmless, and I never suspected her when we lived together. How did the allegations come true? How does she have the nerve to hurt Elena? What else could she have done? Does it mean that Sarah had been lying to me all along? All I want right now is nothing but the fucking truth. I will stop at nothing to find out. Does it mean that she killed Elena or hurt her? I slammed the door open, and the girls and Sarah turned to look at me in shock. They didn't expect my return so soon, and I know that they sensed that I overheard their conversations because they all gasp
Elena’s POV:I woke up very early in the morning with baby Jason running around my bedroom. He had been jumping up and down.“Hey wave, can I at least get some rest? You are going to do all of that when we go on a trip for your birthday.” I spoke.“We are going on a birthday trip.” Oops. I forgot to inform him earlier about it. “Yes, Wave. We are going on a trip for your 5th year birthday,” I said. “Yay! I am so happy, mummy. You are the best. This is going to be so much fun,” he said excitedly. I nodded my head. “I know that you will love it. You should thank Uncle Sam because he made me accept his offer and everything became possible,” I said. “I will do that, mummy,” he said. I pulled him down from the bed and ran my hands through his hair. “We need to get you ready for school today, and I have to be at my school for my cooking practicals,” I said.I just wish the school bus would arrive early so that I would not go through the stress of going late for my practicals. I took
Elena's POV:Jason Wave’s birthday is in three days, and it will be our first trip together out of town. It would also be my first ever vacation in five years.Wave couldn't contain his excitement, and it was all thanks to Sam. Sam wants me to begin work on his company, but I have a passion for cooking. I have been taking care of company work all my life, and now it is time for me to chase my dream. I always cook with passion, but what drains me is balancing school and work at the same time. We were also informed at the restaurant that some important guests will be visiting next week, and we have to do our best to make sure our meals are perfect. After work, I decided to drop by the coffee store and grab some coffee to re-energise. I started to operate the machine, but it seemed not to be pouring out coffee. I tried again, and it was the same result. I sighed, “Now that I am thirsty, not this time around.” When I got tired of kicking, I kicked it so hard that my feet hurt, so I
Nicklaus’s POV:I adjusted my sitting position and leaned forward on my desk. “How far have you gone with the investigation on Elena?” I asked my private investigator.“We are doing all we can, sir,” he responds, sipping a glass of whiskey. I was getting annoyed that I had not gotten any positive results from him about Elena.“How good is your best?” I asked.“I have sent my men all over the states in America. They will bring back good results when they find something about her,” he spoke.“Don’t just find something about her; find her!” "Yes, sir,”“Should we send more men to hasten up the investigation?” I asked, then I shook my head, “No, I don't want to be so desperate. That wouldn't make any sense,” I said, running my hands through my hair as I ruffled it. I haven't been myself lately. I had been so fucked and messy.I turned to the other man seated beside the investigator. “It's been a few days since I decided to visit Oregon to begin the new work project and start building my
Elena’s POV:It's a Friday morning. I walked into Wave’s room together with Zoey with a little cake and a lighted candle on it. Jason Wave woke up at the sound of the swinging door.“Good morning, my baby. Happy birthday,” “Good morning, birthday boy,” Zoey greeted. “Good morning, mummy, and good morning, Aunt Zoey. Thank you so much. The cake looks nice,” he said. I walked up to him, wore the birthday hat on him, and placed the little cake in his hand. “Say a wish and blow the candle.” I said.He did as I have said, and we both clapped for him. I ruffled my hands through hisnahir, and he giggled. Zoey handed him a gift bag and said, "Thank you, Aunt Zoey. You are the best aunt in the whole world,” he said. He opened the gift bag to see a set of new toys and a blue school bag; his eyes widened. “Wow, this is beautiful. I love you, aunt Zoey,” be said. "Well, here is your gift,” I said, raising the gift bag over to him. He extended his hands and opened it excitedly. “This is so c
Nicklaus’s POV:“Nicklaus, I heard you are carrying out your investigations to find Elena. Are you going to see her?” Sarah asked as she walked into my room, slamming the door behind her without even a single greeting. “Good morning to you too. The answer is yes and no, respectively.” I spike as I continue packing a few work outfits and some casual wear. I will be in Oregon for some time, and I have to prepare even though it is close to Los Angeles. I am happy to go far away for some time. “Well, I want to go with you, Nicklaus. We haven't bonded for some time now, and I want to be by your side,” she demanded, crossing her hands over her chest. “I am going to work, Sarah. Besides, you have to stay back and take care of Tessa.” I said. I have always avoided Sarah, and she was right about us not binding, but that is not what I want from her. Only our child brought us together. Other than that, I have nothing to do with her. Sarah's eyes darkened as she looked at me. I looked at her
Nicklaus’s POV:I hung up the call immediately and walked out of the room with my bodyguards walking with me. I need to find Elena and speak with her. I couldn't believe that she had been in Oregon all this while. She had even graduated from the school she had always dreamed of attending. I got into the car, and the driver zoomed off. It was quite hard to find the place, but we got in the right direction after a while. I couldn't wait to see Elena. I wondered how she would react if she saw me.I thought about her and the years that she had been here. How would she be now? Did she get married to Alex? Does she have a family? Why does she live here?” I thought to myself, and it only made me feel nervous. My eyes were on the road as I looked at every building until we reached the school by the roadside.“Over there,” I shouted, pointing to the building. The driver stepped on the brake, and the car came to a stop. “I will be right back," she unsaid and hurriedly went down from the car.
Elena’s POV:We arrived at the Hallmark Resort and Spa. It had a breathtaking view. It was everything we had ever dreamed of.Maybe I feel excited to be It's been a while since I travelled for a vacation. Since my last vacation with Nicklaus, I hadn't gone on any. My mind replayed how me and Nicklaus’s honeymoon vacation went, but I tried to brush it off. I turned to him, “Do you love it, baby?” I asked."Yes, mummy,” he said. He looked at me and said, “Mummy, can I go okay? He asked. I shook my head. “No, Wave. We just arrived. We need to settle down before you go play. Now let's go in,” I said. It's a good thing that Wave always listens to me before he does anything. We walked into the beautiful hotel, and I admired every bit of it. I couldn't believe that Sam owned such a luxurious hotel. There was desert and a lot of fruit on the table. “Mummy, can I try some?” Wave asked. I nodded my head. “Yes, you may, but don't eat too much sugar,” I said, giving him a smile. We freshen
