Chapter 111

It was morning already, but the sun wasn't out yet. Alex got rolled out of bed and did some push-ups and exercises before walking into the bathroom. He got into the shower and had a warm, relaxing bath.

It had been a long night, especially with what happened between him and Elena. The whole situation made him feel uncomfortable. He closed his eyes and saw her face. He remembered the kiss and how soft her lips were.

She looked so beautiful and innocent. He felt a spark within him and he smiled.

He realised that his love for her only increased, and he was ready to take his time with her. He knew that it would be difficult for her, but he was ready to take all the time in the world to wait for her.

He got out of the bathroom and dressed in a black suit. His meeting with Mr. Coleman was by 10 o'clock am, and he had to be punctual.

He brushed his hair as he watched his reflection in the mirror, smiling and thinking about his meeting with the Coleman’s. He walked to the living room when he perceived a nice breakfast in the kitchen, which made his stomach growl.

Elena woke up very early to prepare breakfast for Alex since she didn't have enough sleep last night. She wanted to do something to keep her mind from thinking so much.

She knew that it would be awkward facing him, but she wanted to do something nice and kind. Alex walked to the dining area to see Elena setting up the table.

His heart skipped a beat as their eyes met. “Good morning, Elena, “he spoke; his voice was soft and gentle.

“Good morning, Alex,” Elena responded. She tried to avoid eye contact with him, but she knew that it would make things even more awkward, so she decided to shake it off. “I made breakfast,” she spoke gently.

“Thank you,” Alex said, and they both sat down to eat. There was an uncomfortable silence in the room, and both of them didn't know what to talk about.

After eating, Elena cleared the dishes, and Alex decided to leave for his meeting.

“I hope they both agree to our terms, Alex. I wish you good luck,” she spoke to Alex.

Alex reached out to give her a hug even if it felt uncomfortable when Elena felt nauseous and she ran into the bathroom to throw up.

“Elena, are you okay?” Alex asked as he ran after her. “Elena,” he spoke.

She was done throwing up, and she rinsed her mouth. Alex patted her on the back and gently cleaned her face with a napkin.

“You look stressed and worn out,” Alex said, scanning her whole body and taking the strands of hair from her face to her back.

Elena avoided eye contact with Alex. The truth was getting hard to conceal, but she didn't want to ruin his meeting. She couldn't spill even though she felt wrong for keeping quiet.

“It must be from the stress. I just need to get some rest, and I will be fine,” she spoke, trying to brush it off.

“Are you sure about that? Should I get an order from the court so that you can go see a doctor?” he asked, his voice filled with so much concern.

Elena smiled, "No, that wouldn't be necessary. I will be alright,” she spoke.

“Do you want me to stay back? We could postpone the meeting.”

Elena shook her head. "No, Alex. I promise you, I'm fine. We can't afford to miss this opportunity,” she spoke.

Alex looked at her with concern, and they both walked to the front door. “If anything comes up or if you don't feel comfortable, don't hesitate to give me a call, okay?” he spoke.

Elena nodded her head and smiled calmly, “Yes, I will. Now go before you will be late,” she spoke.

Alex wrapped his hands around her for a hug. She felt awkward but also hugged him. He pulled away briefly.

“Drive safe,” she spoke.

“Sure, I will see you soon,” he replied and turned around to leave.

Elena clicked the door shut and rested her back behind the door; she exhaled deeply while closing her eyes.

She felt a little bit of relief that Alex had left. “That was a quick one,” she muttered silently to herself. She opened her eyes and walked into the kitchen to do the dishes when her phone buzzed with a notification.

She reached out to her phone and read the message. It was an email from the Cloud X company. That was when she realised that she had an investment with which she had forgotten about.

Her eyes widened, and her heart slammed hard against her chest. “This is it,” she spoke out loud with a smile on her face.

She quickly unlocked her phone and scrolled through it. She calculated her shares on the company site, and her face lit up when she saw the amount.

“Five hundred thousand dollars, exactly what I need right now,” she spoke out loud. He thought of it was making her heart skip.
