Chapter 23

More infuriatingly for Blake, after I added the doctor on WhatsApp, I even shot him a look.

What else could this mean to him after witnessing my actions? He thought I was challenging him and threatening to cheat on him!

Blake was extremely pissed at my actions, and he even felt a headache coming on. He decided that he shouldn't stay in this hospital anymore!

On the other hand, I felt like I had helped Blake out a lot. I made sure that the handsome doctor noticed Blake, and I even helped Blake get the doctor's private number.

Blake really could've done more on his own, but sadly, he just wasn't capable of that. He only ever raised his voice around his family, and in his 30 years of being single, he only dared to make a move on his own family member.

"Blake, why are you moving stuff around? You should be resting in bed."

"I'm packing my things. I'm getting discharged!"

"Discharged? You've been complaining of dizziness recently. Why are you getting discharged?"

Looking at the anxious expression on my face, Blake suddenly didn't know what to say. But if he didn't get discharged right now, I might run off with someone else before he could win my heart!

"Well, Nate, I just can't get used to staying here. I've already asked Jennifer to send in a request. She'll come over tomorrow morning to help with the discharge procedures."

"Why… Why didn't you tell me about it? If you get discharged right now, with your right hand still injured, how are you going to get by all alone at home?"

Judging by my voice, Blake might still have another chance. He knew that I responded better to gentleness compared to force, so he decided that it was time to switch tactics.

"Nate, it really is too troublesome to stay in the hospital. I have lots of work piling up, and I'm also suffering in the hospital gown, you see?" With that, he even undid his shirt to reveal his chest, which had turned red from all the scratching.

"Why are you still trying to work in that condition? You—" Before I could finish speaking, Blake interrupted me.

"I'm thinking that… if you don't mind, can you stay at my place and take care of me for a while? Don't worry, it won't affect your work at all. You just have to make some meals, and you can also take my car to work."

Looking at the pitiful man in front of me, I felt a lump in my throat. I was the reason Blake got hurt, and now, thanks to his injured right hand, he would find it difficult to go about his daily life. He also had to deal with work in that condition. So, it only made sense for me to take care of him.

"Please, I'm obliged to take care of you in the first place. Don't worry, I'll take another week off from school. At the very least, I'll wait until your dizziness subsides before going back to school."

By the looks of it, Blake had gotten the surprise he was waiting for. Every time he put on a pitiful front around me, he would definitely be able to convince me to satisfy his requests.

I had been a little distracted since Blake said he wanted to get discharged. I was the one taking care of him, so of course, I knew his condition very well. I was a little worried about him being discharged before he completely recovered.

Hung up on the thought, I held my phone tightly as I rushed out of the ward.

Blake lay on the bed. He was secretly pleased, but that feeling didn't last long. Soon, he saw me running outside, phone in hand. Before he realized what he was doing, he had already followed me to the ward's entrance.

When Blake saw me entering the doctor's office again, his expression shifted. He had a dark look in his eyes, which made his face look twisted and fierce.

Blake felt like something was screaming and roaring in his heart. He thought, "Why? Why would Nathan run to others so eagerly? Why am I always the one he gives up on? Wasn't he just promising me that he would take care of me? He should just stay and care for me forever!"
