Chapter 27

Jennifer wasn't very good at driving, it turned out. Blake, still fast asleep, kept slipping off my shoulder, so in the end, I had to keep a tight arm around Blake's waist to keep him steady.

Blake was safe and snug with no danger of falling on his face now, but it was my turn to feel uncomfortable. Maybe I was holding Blake too tightly—his face was now really close to my neck.

I shuddered as I felt Blake's warm breath on his neck. My body felt numb. I tried to move away, but Blake wasn't allowing it as he snuggled his face closer.

When his lips brushed against my neck, I couldn't take it anymore. I pushed Blake away.

"Hmm? What happened?" Seemingly groggy from sleep, Blake sounded hoarse as he blinked blearily.

He looked confused, and the bandages on his head added to the pitiful look. I suddenly felt bad.

"We've arrived, Mr. Wagner," Jennifer's cold voice sounded suddenly, saving me from the awkwardness and dispelling my guilt.

Along with Jennifer, the three of us moved Blake
