Layla

Ever since I came home, I wanted to talk to Pamela right away, but I couldn't reach her. Now that she's finally gotten back to me, I just want to talk to her about the setback I experienced today.

"Oh no. Are you okay?" she asks, her voice laced with concern.

I give a half smile, like she can see me, looking at myself in the mirror.

"Of course I'm okay. I'm just disappointed. I admit that when I first learned about this news, it hit me hard, but not anymore."

"I'm glad to hear that. Will you still keep this a secret from your mom?"

"I'm not telling her anything." I firmly shake my head. "I have an idea of what her reaction might be like. She might even go to extreme lengths for Nathan and I to get together again, but that's not happening."

"I don't think that would even happen because you're with Louis now."

"Yeah, but she still doesn't know about him."

"Are you still hesitant?"

"Yeah, but I'll introduce him to her later. I feel like it's too soon if I do it now."
