Chapter 29: Excuses

LEAH’S POV

"It seems like we haven't made our intentions clear to you." Hudson’s voice carried a low, dangerous tone, almost a growl.

But… how could it be? Why are they suddenly saying this to me?

“What do you… mean?” I chuckled nervously, avoiding their gaze. “I’m just stating the fact. Though our companies are in partnership, the issue was within our own premises…”

“Stop it,” Brixton snapped at me, and I slightly jumped off my seat. Seeing my reaction, I somehow witnessed how his gaze softened, but his eyes remained serious.

“You know that this isn’t just about business matters.”

My heart raced, the dread slowly consuming me. They both wore serious expressions on their faces, and I felt like a criminal under their scrutiny.

“Haven’t we made it clear enough?” Brixton continued speaking, his expression somehow unreadable. "You keep asking us what we want, but you knew clearly what we wanted in the first place.”
