Chapter 31: Absence

LEAH’S POV

The next day, I feel like I was not on my proper state of mind. Hudson and Brixton’s words last night seem to keep echoing in the back of my mind, constantly reminding me that they were serious about uncovering the truth. And that scared me more than anything else.

Despite having the relief that somehow, I manage to come up with an excuse and finally drawn a line between us, it left me feeling even more troubled instead.

After sending the kids to school, I drove to the company in a somewhat absentminded look. The anxiety in me kept growing each minute that passes, and I know I can’t keep this bottled up any longer or else I’ll definitely grow paranoid.

The thing I needed the most right now was some advice, and there was only one person I could turn to – Marina.
