I stared at Brutus from the corner of my eyes, he was dumbfounded. His eyes stayed on Carter as if he was trying to discover something. I hoped he wouldn't find Carter's identity.

"Mommy? Is he your son?" He asked, his fists were clenched. There was a mix of surprise and anger on his face. I nodded, holding Carter who hid his face in my gown.

Carter was scared, this might be the first time he was surrounded by lots of people. The crowd gathered close to us, everyone watched the drama with their widened eyes. I regretted the moment I came here.

"No wonder he is your son. He had learned manners from you. You and your son belong to the streets." Evelyn spoke with gritted teeth.

"Enough.." I shouted, making Brutus and Evlyn stunned. "I am not going to hear any words for me and my son. You don't have a right to punish him."

I found Carter's wrist was sore. Evelyn held it extremely tightly so that it caused a mark on it.

"Your son misbehaved with me and refused to apologise to me." She said as she folded her hands.

I sat on my knees and looked into Carter's eyes. I held his hand softly. If he was wrong, I would not let him misbehave with anyone.

"Carter, is that true?

I asked Carter, he shook his head.

"No Mommy, I was going to apologise to her but before that, she slapped my face. She even said that I must be raised by a Witch." Carter said and I was stunned. I stared at his cheek which turned red. I gritted my teeth.

I was not around for a moment and she bullied my kid. I wondered how Brutus watched Evlyn slap a five-year-old kid. He was really heartless.

"Ask him to apologise to me, right now. If he cannot ask, you should. After all, You are responsible for this behaviour. You should pay for what your son did."

I watched as Brutus stood behind her and didn't say a single word. Seemed he agreed with everything Evlyn said,

I stood and took a deep breath.

"You are right, I am responsible for my son." I approached Evelyn. She had a winning smile on her face.

"Now I should pay for my son.." I said and slapped Evlyn's face harder and louder.

"Awwww.." The mutter was heard from behind. She held her face, embarrassed.

"This is what I need to return to you," I said. I never wanted my son to see me go weak. I want him to see me as a strong woman who stands for herself.

If you stand for yourself, then only you will stand for others. I held Carter's hand and started leaving. I wanted to say goodbye to Asthon but he was busy with the ceremony.

As soon as I took a step, Brutus stopped me.

"Hey, how dare you slap her? She is a Luna queen and you can't humiliate her this way. Apologise to her right now."

He ordered, but I watched his face. Where was this look when he saw my son getting bullied?

"Who do you think you are? You are not my Alpha and she is not my Luna. I don't think I need to listen to your fucking orders."

Brutus's brows furrowed. I said and walked outside the hall. I didn't wait for his response.

"Carter, why did you run away? I told you not to do that. It's an unknown pack, what if you went missing?" I asked, I was half dead when the maid informed me.

"Don't worry Mommy, I am a big boy now. I memorise everything faster." Carter blew his hair.

For a moment I thought Brutus recognised him, but it seemed he didn't. I shouldn't stay here anymore. I would leave the pack tonight.

We arrived back at the pack's guest house. There was a knock on the door, My heart clenched to hear that. I slowly opened the door and found it was Asthon.

"You thought you would leave without informing me, then you are still stupid." He pushed the door open and went to Carter.

I knew he wanted to see Carter.

"Uncle Ashton." He jumped with joy. They both began having fun as Carter brought a lot of games for him. The cab driver would get here in half an hour. I packed some food for my journey.

I saw my phone, it had missed calls from Luke.

I almost forgot to inform him about the coming of the crescent moon. Carter and Asthon were having fun. So I walked out to talk on the phone.

I walked outside the guesthouse and tugged the phone to my ears.

Suddenly someone grabbed my hand and pulled me. My heart pounded violently in my chest when I realised it was Brutus. His hand gripped my wrist and pinned it above my head with a force that sent a jolt of electricity through my body.

"Brutus, what are you doing here?" I gasped. My breath hitched as he wrapped his other arm around my waist and pulled me flush against him.

His body enveloped me, a wall of muscles and heat. He stood tall before me, almost caging me in his arms, leaving me no chance to escape.

"Your son, Carter. Who is the father of him?" He demanded. My heart stopped beating at his question. The smell of alcohol clung to him. His intoxicating eyes glared at me with fierce intensity. I could see Carl's reflection in his dilated pupils.

"Didn't I tell you? You are not my Alpha. You are not someone I report to. Just leave me right now." I said, pushing him away. But he was a beast before me,m. The alcohol magnified his power. He didn't even budge despite my struggle.

"That's not an answer to my question, Cassandra. Be a good girl and answer me."

I chuckled at him. The way he took my full name, it shivers my spine. He only did it when he was offended.

"Do you still think I will obey you? I am no longer that obedient Cassandra." I breathed heavily in defiance. If he thinks this manipulation works then he was wrong.

He pressed his body against mine. His colder hands slowly slipped beneath my top. I stayed firm and my expressions were steady. I tried hard to show that his actions did not affect me. His fingers squeezed my skin, leaving marks in his possession.

"Ahh.."

"With whom did you sleep? That man gave you this luxurious life? Tell me." He asked me, His each word felt like a stab to my heart.

I thought he was blind and that he didn't see me working hard to save his father, but I had no idea that he was blind to the extent that he could not even recognise his own son.

"If you already know that? Have you come for confirmation?" I asked. He gritted his teeth, his fingers almost penetrating my skin.

His eyes darted over my lips, I found his eyes sparkled. If I was not wrong, I sensed Carl again.
