Cassandra POV

“Congratulations. You gave birth to a baby boy.” I finished the delivery and handed the baby to his mother.

“He looked like his father.” Mrs. Wimbledon took her mask off and said. The couple nodded

Every time a baby boy is born in the pack, I recall the day I gave birth to Carter. I was stunned to see he had the same brown hair and blue eyes as Brutus. His face reminds me of Brutus every day but more than that he reminds me of the pain I went through at that time.

“I heard it’s your father’s funeral two days after. Are you not going there?” Mrs. Wimbledon asked me, My brows arched. Luke must have shared this with her.

“There was no point in visiting that place. I only had a blood relation with my dad. Now he was no more, there was no point in seeing anyone else.”

I couldn’t tell her that there were a bunch of people whom I never wanted to see again in my life. Brutus and my sister were one of them.

“Still, if someone sent you this invitation means he values you. He wanted you to be there.”

Mrs. Winbledon said, I smiled as I recalled Asthon.

Ashton and I never had bad terms. We were close friends, even though he was my stepbrother, he considered me like his sister. He was the only one who cared about me and dug out everything to find my address.

“It’s alright. I have a few patients waiting for their delivery by next week. It’s artificial insemination cases so I cannot leave them.” I stated. It’s the best excuse for me right now.

I found Luke standing on the balcony and listening to every conversation between us. Probably he wanted me to see my family. He had seen me crying for them many times.

Two days later

“Mom, tell me the story, please,” Carter asked me, whenever we went to bed, Carter listened to a story.

“Which story do you want to listen to?” I asked.

“A warrior Luna. what happened when she ran away from the pack?” Carter asked me curiously. “Did she fight with black wolves?”

I nodded.

“Yes, she punched them with her claws. She fought hard because she wanted to save the little prince.”

It was Carter’s favourite story, he listened to it every day.

Just as I finished telling him a story, I heard a knock on the door.

“What happened?” I whispered to Omega standing at the door. I could not agitate Carter, he had school the next morning.

I was respected in the doctor's pack. They never disobey me.

“Someone came to see you,” Omega informed me. I stared at the clock, it was eleven. I wondered who came at this hour. Perhaps it’s an emergency case.

I wrapped the jacket around my night and stepped out of my room. I arrived in the packed living room.

My body froze at the sight. It was Asthon, my brother. Someone whom I never expected to see there.

“Cassy..” He approached me and hugged me. I could see he turned into a tall gentleman within five years. He just completed eighteen and I was stunned to see him this way. “I missed you so much.”

He said, I rubbed my hands on his shoulder.

“I sent you a letter but I thought you might not have received it. You know Dad..” He said, I nodded.

“I found your letter,” I said, my voice was heavy. “But I don’t think I can come back now.”

“Dad wanted you to be at his funeral. It was his last wish. I have an Alpha ceremony tomorrow, I want you to be there.”

Ashton said, I chuckled.

“For five years I was almost dead for everyone. Why does everyone miss me now?”

Ashton grabbed my shoulder, a mild smile remained on his face.

“Everyone forgot about the incident five years ago. Dad wanted to contact you but you had changed your number. When he died, he took your name. It’s the only way to help Dad rest in peace, you should attend the ceremonies.”

Ashton said I pressed my lips into a thin line. I feel I could trust Ashton for now.

“There is something you must know..”

We both went to my bedroom and Asthon was stunned to see Carter who was sleeping on the bed. He almost froze for a long time.

“This is your kid?” He rubbed his hands over Carter’s brown hair. I nodded.

“Who is the father of this baby?” He asked me, and I rubbed my forehead.

“Can’t you tell?” I asked him, his brows arched as he glared at Carter silently.

“Is it Brutus?”

I pressed my lips and nodded. His jaws dropped.

“I don’t want Brutus to find out about Carter,” I said. “Even though I want to attend the best moment of your life, I don’t want to lose my son.”

I clarified. I didn’t want Asthon to feel bad.

“That’s it. He won’t find out about it.” Asthon assured. “You just prepare to come with me.”

After Ashton insisted, I decided to go with him.

I prepared my clothes and Carter's clothes for a few days. I made Carter sleep in the backseat of his car, and I sat beside Asthon.

The car started and I felt sleepy.

“Can I have a sleep? I had four IV sessions today and I am damn tired.” I said, yawning.

“Yes! By the way, you became a famous doctor and that made me proud of you.” Asthon praised me and I couldn’t help but smile.

When I woke up in the morning, I was already in a crescent moon pack, which was my father’s pack. I missed being here.

“You stay here in the guest room. I will send something to eat for Carter.”

Ashton said and I realised it was good to stay in the guestroom rather than anywhere else. I was about to get Carter in my arms but he woke up.

“Mom, who is he?” Carter asked, his sapphire blue eyes blinking constantly.

“I am your uncle, your mom’s brother,” Ashton said and Carter stared at him with a puzzled face. Asthon played with Carter for a while.

“Mommy never told me I have such an amazing uncle,” Carter said. He loved when someone played with him.

“Alright, I am leaving now. You better be ready for the ceremony tomorrow.” Ashton said while leaving the room.

I smiled, even though the nervousness was boiling within me. This pack where I spent eighteen years of my life, everything flashed before my eyes.

I opened my bag and took out the crimson-laced gown from my baggage. It was embedded with Ruby and matching ruby jewellery with it. Luke gifted it to me when I had my first session.

“Mom, where are we going?” Carter asked me, I was getting ready for Ashton’s Alpha ceremony.

“Mom is leaving for the Adult’s party. Children are not allowed there. You stay here with Martha until I get back.”

I said, but Carter’s lips pouted. He shook his head.

“No Mom, I will come with you.” Carter insisted. I sat on my knees so that I could see in his eyes.

“Carter, Mommy could not take you there. If you behave well, we will go to the play zone tomorrow.”

Carter loves playzone. He nodded and kissed my cheeks.

“Alright mommy. I will behave well.” He said and I was relieved. I gave few instructions to Martha and left for the party hall.
