Cassandra POV

"Let me go, I need to see Alpha King Brutus," I asked the guard who came to serve me the food. It's been three days that I am still in prison. I kept requesting her but she turned a blind eye to my request.

"Court Chiefs are on holiday. They will come back tomorrow. You are not allowed to leave the prison until they get back.” Guard denied. I was restless.

"I want to see Alpha Brutus, I have something to tell him. Just for ten minutes, let me go."

I knew Brutus wouldn’t let me go to prison once he knew about my pregnancy.

"He won't listen to you now. Accept the fact." The guard spoke in harsh words.

I gave it a thought and took my necklace off. I handed it to her as a bribe. She opened the door and gestured to me.

“I give you ten minutes. But don’t let anyone know I helped you.”

When I stepped into the packhouse, the bright light and the decoration indicated that there must be some function going on. The luxury cars out of the packhouse and the hundreds of waitresses roaming with trays indicated it must be another feast. But why?

"What was going on?” I muttered to myself. No one recognised me, perhaps due to my messed up condition.

“Anyways, I need to inform Brutus that he is going to be a father." I held my rotten gown and stepped inside.

I walked through the parted crowd, only to see something enough to shatter my heart.

Alpha King Brutus was getting engaged to my step-sister Evelyn. I felt like my world was shaken. It was just the third day that I went to the prison and he was so eager to get engaged that he didn't wait for me to prove my innocence.

He was smiling at the guest, Evelyn seemed on cloud nine. He didn't seem like he was forced to do that. Perhaps the people were true, he married me because I was the caretaker of his father.

"At this point, he won't even care about the pup in my belly," I muttered and walked back to the prison with heavy steps and sore eyes

As soon as I lay on the concrete bench, I burst into tears.

"Why did you do this, Brutus? Did your love for me die this easily? You didn't even wait for us to get separate? Do you forget that you are still married to me?”

I cried until my belly started hurting. I dreamed of having a baby in our arms but now the dream would remain a dream.

The next morning I was woken up by a guard.

"Get ready, The court chiefs are back from the holiday. You have a trial.." She said, I nodded and went to the basin to wash my face. I will try to prove my innocence once again. One maid was in the room when Evelyn sent me to Bruno’s room.

"We might not see each other from tomorrow. Because you are getting a divorce today. And they send you into dungeons."

Guard informed me, my brows furrowed.

"So it's all planned already?"

I chuckled. My words would have no value in the court because Alpha King Brutus had already decided my fate- Sending me to dungeons

I wiped my tears and breathed heavily. I looked at my belly. If he sent me into dungeons, my pup would be snatched away the moment it was born and I would be rotting there. More than that I would never be able to see my child again.

"Alright, I am prepared. Let's go."

I walked out and found everyone was there. My stepmom, dad and my brother. Except for my brother, no one had any pain for me in their eyes. Mom and Dad almost turned their heads away.

Brutus and Evelyn, How shamelessly he stood beside her, she flaunted her ring finger at me and smiled wickedly. I knew it was her who planned all this.

"It's been four days. Do you have anything to say now?"

Brutus asked me, my eyes filled with tears again. How could he see his love in such a state?

"No, I have no proof." I shook my head.

"So you accept that you did it?" Brutus asked me coldly and I watched his face.

Is he so blind to my step-sister that he forgot how I arranged the blood for his thalassemic father before? How I saved his life twice by giving CPR on time. He was really blind.

“Do you accept you tried to kill my father?” He repeated.

"I didn't say that." I chuckled, why did he even ask me when he already declared me a killer?

"Whether you accept it or not, you did it." He threw the divorce papers in front of me. "Sign these papers."

My brows furrowed, I stared at that divorce paper. This is exactly what the guard told me.

I breathed heavily, my eyes staring at him in defiance.

"I won't sign the divorce papers until you fulfil one of my conditions." I refused and threw papers back at him.

Brutus's brow furrowed. He glared at me coldly.

"Don't expect you'll get alimony for divorce. You are a killer. You don't have a right to refuse. Just sign these papers and let the chief continue your trial.”

Brutus spoke under crushed teeth.

"Then do whatever you want, I won't sign the papers." My words infuriated him. He almost took a step closer to me but Evyln stopped him.

“What do you want?” Evelyn asked. She was not even Luna Queen and already started interfering in the pack's matters. I turned to Alpha King Brutus.

"Release me if you want to divorce me."

"Release you?" Brutus frowned. He stared at me in disbelief.

"Yes, I will leave the pack the moment you release me. If you don't, I won't divorce you.” I was firm. I didn’t know where I got this courage. Perhaps because of my baby.

"You think you can leave this place with dignity, that won't happen. I will kick you out of the pack."

Brutus handed me the pen, how desperate he looked to get a divorce. I scribbled on the bottle of the paper.

We both signed and he handed the papers to the chief. I breathed heavily.

I wasn’t ready to bear the pain of being rejected so I thought I would reject him first.

“I, Cassandra Aston, reject Alpha Brutus as my mate," I said and his eyes narrowed instead of being painful.

He was my fated mate, doesn’t he feel the pain I was feeling right now?

If he had loved me he could have a bit of pain, but he was a giant rock unaffected by any emotions.

"I am kicking Cassandra out of the Dark Moon pack, if anyone from the pack tries to contact her or help her, they can join her too," Brutus announced, I watched his face with tears in my eyes.

"Any surrounding pack who dared to give her shelter would be the next enemy of the Dark Moon pack."

Brutus spoke, and I headed to my room to take my things before leaving but Brutus stopped me.

"You are not allowed to take anything from the pack. Beta Storm, threw her out of the pack. If I see her anywhere I will kick you out too.."

Brutus said, I looked into his eyes, did he ever love me?

I was thrown out, the winter season was at its peak and I was shivering with cold. I thought about calling my family, but as I recalled Brutus's announcement, I restrained myself from contacting anyone.

The neighbouring pack already refused to pick me up. They could not afford to offend Alpha King Brutus at any cost.
