I stared at her face, her lips, her body. It felt like a dream. A twisted, intoxicating dream. I thought I began hallucinating again. That wasn't true, I had taken medicines in the morning. But when Ashton intervened, I realised it was her. Cassandra was back.

For five long years, I was restless. I was consumed by hatred for her betrayal. I hated her for what she had done, I hated myself even more for being unable to move on.

To the world, I was Alpha King Brutus. An epitome of strength and power but alone, I was just a restless wolf.

My heart whispered that I wronged her, the punishment I gave was too severe. But my mind screamed that She was a traitor. And a traitor deserves punishment.

A month ago when I received the news of a female wolf found dead outside the pack, a shiver sent down my spine. I assumed it was her. But after confirmation, I was relieved that it wasn't her.

Today when I found her in front of me, Dressed gorgeously. Stark contrasts her innocence. She was transformed in a way that I hardly comprehend. She came to the ceremony with her kid, which means she was moved on. There was a pang of pain within my heart. I hated the fact that she moved on.

Why did it hurt so much? Was it because I wanted to see her rot in regret for her betrayal? Or was it the bitter realization that she had found shelter in another man’s arms and produced a child that was not mine?

Just the thought of what she had done with that man to produce this kid made my annoyance boil over.

As she left with her child, I drank too much. I didn't know how I ended up here, before the guest house of Crescent moon pack. I had no guts to knock on the door, but when I found her stepping out of the room while tucking the phone to her ears.

I lost my control and pinned her to the wall. I gripped her chin, forcing her to meet my gaze. She stared at me with narrowed eyes. Her fierce defiance was new to me.

How had she changed so much? Once a tame cat now had become a wild creature. The anger in her eyes was a fire that I had never seen before. Where did this arrogance come from?

"Tell me the truth, Cassandra. Or I swear I won’t let you go until you do."

I brought my mouth closer to her, my breath grazing her skin. She turned her face away and I felt the heat of rejection.

Her fuller pink lips, even after five years I remembered how it tasted. How badly I craved it. I wanted to savour it. I wanted to punish her with a kiss, the way I used to do. If I was upset over something, I would just kiss her fiercely. It was Carl, my wolf who went crazy to see her, even after her betrayal, he wanted her. I needed to control him. I needed to calm him down.

I tried hard to kill the urge to kiss her. I came to get the truth from her, I should kill such thoughts. I muttered to myself.

"Whose bed do you have to warm to get fees for your education, Doctor Cassandra?" I asked her in a mocking tone.

"What did you just say?" She chuckled again. The sound that ignited my fury. How was she not scared? My body pressed her, almost squeezing her between me and the grey walls of the guesthouse.

"That kid had not fallen from the sky, Of course, you found someone to shelter you. Will you tell me or I.." I brought my lips closer to her almost crashing against hers.

In a flash, she bent her knees and struck between my legs with a force that sent a shockwave throughout my body.

"Oucchh.." I screamed. She kicked my balls. My hands released her as I doubled over in pain.

"How dare you hit me. Do you know who I am, Alpha King Brutus?" I roared, even though there was a sharp pain in my voice.

She pushed against my chest. Her strength surprised me.

"So what? Who gives you the right to trouble me?" She shot back and walked away. I followed her, but we both halted when we saw a tall man standing in the woods. I narrowed my eyes and held Cassandra's elbow as I sensed a danger.

"Alpha Luke.." She muttered.

My heart sank when he walked forward and quickly wrapped Cassandra in his arms.

"Why didn't you answer my calls? I was worried about you and Carter." He said. His gaze shifted to me.

lAlpha King Brutus," He said, I nodded, forcing a smile that felt like a mask over my rage. He had no idea what I would do to him for hugging her just now.

"Doctor Alpha Luke, long time no see," I said, while my eyes stayed on Cassandra all the time.

"You know him?" Cassandra's brow arched.

"Yes, I visited Dark Moon Pack twice with my seniors." He told Cassandra and rested his hands on her shoulder. I felt like a heavy weight was kept on my chest.

Carter emerged from the room and quickly hugged Luke.

"We missed you so much.." Carter kissed him on the cheeks as his hands wrapped around Luke.

Why was I even standing here to witness all this?

"Brutus," Evelyn called me. I turned back and found her hiding her anger behind the smile. "Where were you? You left the party in the middle."

She approached and grabbed my elbow. She watched Cassandra and Alpha Luke together and was shocked as I was.

"Why did you come here? I told you to leave with the driver, didn't I?" I spoke through gritted teeth.

"I should ask you this question. Why are you here? Outside the room that your ex-wife is staying in?" She asked me.

"Who gave you the right to ask me such a question? You are not my wife." I shot back at her, her face fell at my words.

"But we are engaged. I am your Luna Queen. I have a right to ask you this." She said and I chuckled.

I didn't want to create the scene and show Cassandra that my life is fucked up after she left. I grabbed her shoulder.

"Let's go.. home. It's getting late." I said and approached Cassandra.

"See you again, Doctor Luke," I said as I gave a warning glare to Cassandra. I walked back into my car. Evelyn and I didn't speak in the entire journey to our way back. As soon as she entered the packhouse, she threw her purse.

"She is flaunting her kid in front of us and here, we are not even married. It's been five years since Brutus. When are you going to marry me?" She shouted, I took a deep breath.

I walked to my study room and lit a cigarette in the dark. Cassandra, Carter and Luke, how they seemed so happy? More like a beautiful family. I felt a sharp pain in my heart again.

I poured myself a drink, it was easy for her to sleep with someone else. I got engaged to Evlyn under a lot of pressure.

After Cassandra was dethroned from her position, the deal between me and Mr. Steven ended the moment. According to it, I had to return 1/7th of our pack to the crescent moon pack. It was the condition that Mr. Steven put before me when I was getting married to Cassandra. Now we used that 1/7th part for agriculture and all food of our pack depended on that land. I could not sacrifice the hunger of my packmates.

So I decided to get engaged and make Evlyn Luna queen so that I wouldn't have to return that land. But slowly I realised that engaging Evelyn was the worst decision I ever made. She was a disaster.

How could Cassandra have a beautiful life even after she betrayed me and killed my father? I won’t let her go this easily. I thought to myself.

I heard a knock on the door.
