My eyes opened, adjusting to the ray of light as I managed to sit up on the bed, head hung in my palm. No matter how much I tried not to remind myself of last night, it was now too late to regret or suck.

A slight creak of the door alone and I almost had a panic attack, my hand on my chest as I slumped back under the bed sheet. I knew I was caught already when the footsteps approached, not stopping until I could literally feel the person's presence by my bed.

“No amount of pretense is going to work.” It was Eva, this time she's seething beside me. “If you know what you've done, you wouldn't even be able to have a wink of sleep.”

My hand shook as I held the duvet away from my face. Whatever hope I might have had left vanished when I saw the seriousness etched on her face, prompting me to sit up once again.
