Lyra came back in with the letter sent by Bryson, and I reached out for it. Lyra left and I started unwrapping the envelope.

Bryson had told me he was going to be writing to me but I was the first person who wrote to him. I realized I couldn’t keep him in the dark even if he was gone now so I told him about yesterday’s event with Derek and how he accepted me as his mate heartily.

After I’ve unwrapped the packaging around it, I stared at it for a while, deciding whether to open it now or not. Right before I could actually get down to it, I heard Derek call out for me.

Just the voice I’ve been longing to hear since I woke up.

With a smile on my face, I pushed back the chair I was seated and walked out of my room.

It was strange how I immediately felt like something was amiss but I didn’t stop descending the stairs. I quickened my pace only to freeze when I saw something or rather someone that shouldn’t be here.
