Nine o’clock, night time. Silvia Alberich was just about to pour herself a glass of water after tucking her daughter into bed when the door was kicked open abruptly. Her husband, Ryan Pierce, barged in angrily and dashed straight towards her.He grabbed her by the collar, his eyes red with fury as he yelled, "Did you go see Mariah today? What the hell did you say to her?"Silvia remained calm in the face of his heated questioning. "Yeah, I told her I'd expose her if she keeps ruining our family, and that I'd make sure everyone knows she's a shameless mistress of yours!""You evil witch!" Ryan roared, flinging Silvia violently.Silvia’s slender body was absolutely no match for his strength; she stumbled backwards before falling. As her tailbone collided with the cold marble floor, warm tears of pain immediately started forming within her eyes.Ryan couldn’t care less about her condition; instead, he loomed over her menacingly, warning her with a harsh tone. “Do you know she’s be

Ryan even had to yank his tie off and tied her flailing arms together just to keep them in place. Soon, moments of rough intimacies occurred on the large bed.In the end, Silvia’s lovely dress was left a mess and hung loosely around her waist.Ryan felt a pang of guilt when he looked at her miserable, damaged state. He was about to comfort her, but stopped himself after recalling her earlier hostile words. Instead, he got out of bed and went straight into the shower. He didn’t understand how he was still so attracted to her body, despite already having a child with her.At first, he simply wanted to smash his lips into hers and stop her from spewing any more hateful statements. He never intended for things to have gone this way, and could tell that she was deeply hurt by his rough actions; both physically and mentally. ‘Well, she’s at fault for being so stubborn! She shouldn’t have talked back to me like that,’ he thought to himself, convinced he wasn’t at fault. Once Ryan got

“What’s the meaning of this? Explain!” Harold questioned angrily as he shot Ryan a dirty glare. The old man knew well enough to realize that Silvia was being absolutely serious to have announced her divorce in this manner. He was greatly saddened and enraged, as he had known how awkward the young couple’s relationship was. He never expected their relationship to progress towards the worst ending possible.“She has no say in this matter!” Ryan growled, expressing his anger right before he stormed out of the place. He was most definitely implying that he would never agree to the divorce, and would use everything in his power to make sure it wouldn’t happen.Silvia didn’t head home that day. She hoped to take her daughter far, far away; while Ryan could finally achieve his happy ending with Mariah. Thus, despite her daughter's cries, Silvia had to compose herself and console the little one. However, the tears still remained in her eyes when she spoke. "Autumn, my dear, don't cry. Aunt Rosa’s sick, and I'm taking care of her for now. I won't be home tonight, so sleep with Papa, alright?"Rosaline also had a child with her ex-husband, a little girl only two years older than Autumn. Rosaline managed to win custody over her daughter, but was currently busy with work. Hence, Rosaline had to send her daughter to her parents so they could take care of the child in her stead.Back then, Silvia would bring Autumn along to Rosaline's apartment. The closest interaction Ryan had with his daughter was when she greeted him at the door. Autumn would always stand there with a big smile and wish him good luck at work, or welcome him home from work. That was the limit to their affection for one another. Many times, Ryan simply chose to not show any affection towards his daughter, even going as far as to avoid looking directly at her adorable face. Autumn simply looked way too similar to Silvia; it was as if they were carbon copies of each other. They even had the same expressions and attitude; especially that godforsaken smile. He didn't understand how they had so much positivity in their hearts, or how they always had the energy to be so bubbly all the time. He felt like he would be blinded by their bright smiles the moment he laid eyes on them.He disliked the mother and daughter in that regard. Hence, he refused to have any interactions with them. However, someone's smile had faded through time and her light was dimmed as w

Suddenly, Silvia’s face shifted to that of Autumn’s. Both of their teary eyes and sorrowful expressions were more than enough to kill his sleep. He tossed and turned through the entire night. When morning came, he was still suffering from sheer exhaustion. It simply made him feel worse, as he usually had the luxury of waking up to a clear mind.Even then, Ryan Pierce was still the man who managed the entirety of Pierce Group. As soon as he washed up and put on a clean suit, he once again appeared as the cold and heartless CEO.Exiting the master bedroom, he scanned their lavish apartment unit; the absolute silence haunted his very being.Normally, the entire place would be filled with the lovely aroma of coffee by the time he woke up, and in the kitchen would stand a certain woman. She would always be busy making breakfast for the entire family.Knowing that he loved drinking coffee, Silvia bought a coffee machine so that she could personally make him a cup every single morning. Ryan gritted his teeth throughout the entire time he read the divorce settlement. It seemed Silvia only wanted custody of their daughter, and nothing more.He scoffed while clutching onto his mouse. 'Ha, how nice of her to not demand anything. Does she even realize what’ll happen to her after divorcing?''Once we're divorced, she'll be rid of her title as Mrs. Pierce and has to leave the Pierce family.''She has no talent or skill to her name, since she married me the moment she graduated university. She's never worked a single job, and naturally wouldn't have experience in any field.' 'Detroit’s filled with smart, talented and experienced people, so it's entirely possible she'd have difficulty finding a job in the first place.''She wants custody of our daughter? And what is she going to raise her with?''So how could I possibly leave Autumn in her hands?'He knew well that their daughter was Silvia's soft spot. Hence, he figured that if he refused to hand over custody, she wo

Chapter 8

Back then, Silvia had been so deeply in love that she didn’t care how deep the fall was. She had always stubbornly insisted that their relationship would improve after marriage, even more so after she gave birth to his child.'My parents, grandparents, and many other marriages started out this way. They worked out, didn't they?' That was what she told herself at that time.'Many couples have fallen deeply in love and experienced many obstacles in their lives. But at the very end of it, most of them continue striving in their relationship just to raise their children well. Isn't that the case most of the time?'However, she had no idea that Ryan's heart was made of stone. No matter how much she tried to love and please the man, he didn't reciprocate her feelings at all. With Silvia hanging up on him again, Ryan got so angry that he slammed the landline phone back in place. Then, he flung himself backwards into his chair. Pinching his nose bridge, he thought furiously, 'Just look a

She intended to settle down at her parents’ place, which was in a rural area at the outskirts of Detroit and about an hour away from the city center. She was hoping she could find a job in that area after her daughter got used to her parents’ place. Chapter 10

“Now that the children are back, let’s have one last talk then and get everything off our chests.”“Lia…” Greg didn’t want Ophelia to go down that topic, but she seemed insistent.“After finding out you’ve been providing for those two behind my back and had arranged for them to live in another country, there was only disgust left in my heart for you.”Greg furrowed his eyebrows upon hearing this, but Ophelia continued speaking in a calm tone.“I tried comforting myself later on, because you’ve had a child with her and they’re still part of your past. It’s your responsibility to provide for them, so I didn’t mind. But how did you make it up to me? You forced Ryan to give up on the girl he liked just so her son could have what he wanted, as per usual.”“I completely gave up any hope I held for you in my heart since then.”Ophelia was still rather soft-spoken when saying all this, but it was enough to make Greg’s heart sting.“Ryan’s marriage ended up in a divorce…because of you.
