I walked to the kitchen, feeling happy and complete again. I was together with my family again, but I’d prefer to be in our own home. I spent that entire day in my room, and when night came, my sisters took my children away anticipating Ash’s arrival but he didn’t come. So I spent that night alone, and the next night and the next night too. I sat at the top of the steps in the early morning cold, staring out at the forest hoping to get a glimpse of him.
