I spent that entire day in my room, and when night came, my sisters took my children away anticipating Ash’s arrival but he didn’t come. So I spent that night alone, and the next night and the next night too.

I sat at the top of the steps in the early morning cold, staring out at the forest hoping to get a glimpse of him. I was worried, not for his safety but that he’d left me again and this time he wouldn’t come back.

I have always known my relationship with Ash would never be easy, but I never banked on this.
