Complaints

"Fair enough. I would love to chat with you more, but unfortunately, work calls for me," he vocalised. Seraphine nodded. If she was still Seraphine, she would be quick to befriend this man. But as Blair, she couldn't take the risk. Following that, their training was done, and Seraphine knew their squad would be handed a new mission as this was finished. The leader is the one responsible for relaying their mission to them and allocating the tasks. It was because the leader sabotaged Blair lots of times that she didn't manage to receive any recognition for the job she did until now. It wouldn't be going too far to say her teammates were incompetent in comparison to her. Seraphine wasn't planning to get taken advantage of by her teammates like this, but she wasn't able to think of a way out of this. °°° Cornered, Seraphine stared

Arnold

Actually, Seraphine didn't have much expectations from Arnold. Although he gave off a gentle and amiable impression, it was just a front. Seeing how high of a position he had, it wasn't unlikely for him to be cunning. "Is that so? Then, I am planning to raise a complaint officially and quit. That squad wouldn't have half of their accomplishment without me," Seraphine bluntly said. She was raised preciously. Although being a knight was her dream, it wasn't worth enough for her to be bullied or endure unfair treatment. As for other responsibilities, she could think of something else to handle them. "Aren't you being arrogant?" he raised one of his eyebrows. This caused the corner of Seraphine's lips to raise upwards and proudly voice out, "I am being honest. I don't even know why those useless people were recruited." Seraphine shook her head at the end. "Do I l

Rough

Seraphine wasn't exactly unperturbed despite the confidence she displayed outside. Inside, she was nervous about the outcome. But growing up, she never mistreated herself and didn't wish to do that now either. It seemed that Arnold was in a rather pleasant mood for he didn't take offense and even smiled. The smile didn't appear to be malicious. "What do you suggest then?" he raised one of his eyebrows. Seraphine pursed her lips into a thin line, pretending to think for a while prior to responding, "Well, it would be troublesome to ask me to change teams, and of course, it can't be assured such a situation would occur again. Punishing them wouldn't work either. It would only cause them to mess with me further. Thinking like this, why don't you just let me work solo? I think I am competent enough for it." "You want to work alone?" he questioned.

Attic

Not judging the place further, Seraphine inserted the key and unlocked the door. Pushing open, she stepped inside and observed the interior. Although the furniture was old, at least everything seemed neat and clean. Her sister probably took good care of it. Closing the door behind her, she called, "Ashley!?" She did find it awkward to call the name familiarly in the beginning, but after a couple more tries, she was able to get used to it. After all, Seraphine's ability to adapt was amazing. At the sound, the door to a room opened, and a head peaked out. Seraphine's eyes fell on the frail beauty. Ashley had ash-brown hair that flowed to her waist and a pair of similar coloured eyes. Maybe because of her sickly nature, she had pale skin. Instead of it being unattractive, it made her appear to be a delicate beauty. One glance at her was enough to raise one's protective

Warmth

After concluding there was nothing of use that was present in the attic, she went down and began to go outside of the house where Ashley was at. It seemed she had already prepared the meat and the fire. Seraphine lent a hand with roasting the meat, and after a while, the mouthwatering smell from the meat started to float in the air. "This ought to be delicious!" Seraphine expressed prior to taking a bite out of the meat. As expected, she did a great job at roasting it despite her barely having any experience. Tasting how delicious all of them were, Seraphine concluded she naturally had talent in this field. Due to Ashley's weak constitution, she wasn't able to have much meat, especially when they were spicy. However, with Seraphine wolfing everything down, there had to be no worries of the food going to waste.  Once she was done eating, Seraphine sighed. Her manners that she

Security

Before Seraphine could enter her room, she felt a grip on her shirt. This made her turn back to face Ashley. Her actions caused Seraphine to raise one of her eyebrows. "Were you searching for this in the attic?" she questioned. Seraphine's eyes then fell on the letter at Ashley's hand. She forwarded it towards Seraphine. This made Seraphine wonder what this was on. Noticing Seraphine's questioning gaze, Ashley explained, "The other day when I was cleaning up my father and mother's room, I found this. This must be important, so I kept it with me." The envelope didn't seem out of ordinary, but the fact that there was an envelope there in her parent's room was suspicious enough. "Did you check the contents inside?" Seraphine questioned. Ashley shook her head. "It looked important, so I didn't open it." Seraphine nodded and expr

Prestigious

Once done with settling everything, Seraphine bid good-byes to her sister before heading for the barracks. The entire way, the corner of her lips were lifted, displaying her enthusiastic mood well. As she arrived, she didn't know how to judge her luck as she came upon Arnold Crisberd. Regardless of her emotions, she could only politely greet him. "Not bad, Young Lad," he commented, "It seems that the vacation invigorated your spirits." "Indeed, it has. I am grateful to Sir Arnold for it," Seraphine flattered the man. "Seeing this, I have decided your next task would be in your hometown, and as working alone could be tough on you, I have decided to assign you with a partner." This caused Seraphine to be intrigued. Although she had completely a difficult task previously, no matter of teaming up was mentioned. She wondered how hard it was for Arnold Crisberd to suggest this.

Drugs

Seraphine would be a fool if she were to buy that. If the mission truly caught his appeal, he could've have easily gotten it and done it with his teammates. Why would be want to sour things with others by getting along with Seraphine? Maybe Seraphine was being too skeptical, but she didn't believe this man would be here without any motive. Hamilton noticed the creases that formed between Blair's forehead and burst out into hearty laughter prior to voicing out, "You needn't worry. I have no malicious intent. It seems that you have no confidence in your skills. It's truly that I want to go along with you and learn a thing or two." Seraphine still didn't trust the man while she questioned, "Is that so?" "Hmm," Hamilton answered, "It's only right for you to be suspicious. I would do anything within my limit to dispel that." Yoori thought for a while and then voiced out, "Let me be th

One's treasure

Seraphine vaguely recalled the conversation she heard previously on some general or such a figure holding a parade after winning a war. The parade would be passing through the town. During this time, wars were quite common, especially at the border, so Seraphine didn't pay special attention to this. Because of how busy she had been, this matter simply slipped out of her mind. But now that she had decided to take a break from her job along with Hamilton, she decided to check out this procession as she was curious about it. There were many enthusiastic people that gathered around. Not often did such high figure passed through the town, so it was understandable that a considerable amount of attention was attracted. Seraphine booked a private room at the restaurant with a balcony in order to get a proper view. While she nibbled on the seeds, she stared at the excited people downstairs.
