36. We Can Escape

Isla’s POV

I heard footsteps inching closer to the door. I couldn’t help but wonder who it could be. Was it Katherine’s lover? If it was him, then I knew I was doomed.

My eyes moved to Katherine; she was unconscious, and the only energy she had was drained when she struck me on the arm with her fist, causing her to collapse.

I drew my attention away and placed it back on the door. I knew escaping from here wouldn’t be easy. I was weak, so I could only take a few steps.

Then an idea struck me: playing dead seemed like a perfect way to avoid whatever was out there.

“Do you think that’s such a good idea?” Nima said.

“What other choice do we have?”

“We can escape!”

“Escape?” I said in disbelief. “What if the warehouse is surrounded?”

“We just have to be smart about it.”

“No!” I objected. “My decisions are much better.”

“Your decisions will have you killed!”
