Ch. 73

My vision started to focus, the blinding light fading and giving way to my current surroundings. The sword was still in my hands, the ancient one frozen in place under it. Eryn's hand was pressed against my right shoulder blade and Charles' on my lower back left side. They had been holding me up this whole time.

I fell back into them letting go of the sword. The battle seemed over, soldiers moving bodies now. Stoic stood to the side tentatively watching me, anger seeping from his pores. Nate stepped in my line of sight, blocking his father, shaking his head in his attempt to tell me not to worry about that now.

My sobs came out heavy and quick, as I looked at the ancient one, knife still in his eye. Nate pulled his taloned hand back about to strike the ancient one down.
