My mother's questions never relented. She asked Eryn about his childhood, which parent he was closest to and why. How he felt about being mated to a werewolf and more. My father finally had to make her stop. Eryn was a trooper though, answering all her questions with a smile and a very polite tone. "I very much like this mate of yours Rain. I can't wait to meet the other one." She smiled. "Mom Charles isn't as open a book as Eryn is. You're gonna have a harder time getting these kinds of answers out of an alpha." She waved her hand at me. "Nonsense, I'm very good at getting the answers I need. How do you think I always knew where you were while you were in highschool?" She winked and I cocked my head at her. "I could always get your friends to rat you out dear." She smirked….some friends. "Eryn, I'm terribly sorry about my wife. I hope her overbearingness has not shed a negative light on your image of her." My father chimed in. He was so polite and sweet to my mate. "On the contr
I am starting to hate Clarice. Her instructions are cryptic and not very forthcoming. She tells me to do something, but she doesn't tell me how to do it. I think it's because she doesn't really know, and I can't really hold it against her. She isn't a chosen one, her mother was, so there is only so much she can know. Still though it's really annoying and I am getting tired of it. I just want to figure this out and get to the bottom of this. I was able to project for a full 30 seconds this time though. I focused on the last person I projected to, the one chained to the wall, she's still alive it seems. I saw her still in the dark cave, my stomach hurt from the hunger she was feeling. She was scared and depressed…she's lost hope. I didn't get any new information to actually help her. I need to save her. I can't imagine what she is going through, what they are going through, because I know she's not the only prisoner in there. I don't understand why the an
I walked behind Jeremy's dad, following him closely. We were hiking up a trail. Nothing but the sounds of birds singing and leaves crunching beneath my boots surrounded us. It was very tranquil and really quite beautiful. I got the sense that Jeremy and his dad were human. Sounds didn't sound as clear through his ears and the colors weren't as vibrant as usual. My vision was limited, unable to see too far. He seemed fit for a human though. His legs didn't get like lead, and he seemed to have good stamina. These poor humans, I hope they don't get slaughtered. "There it is." Jeremy's dad pointed to a clearing up ahead. The view was incredible from up here. The clearing was near a cliff overlooking the mountain. I feel like I've seen this in a picture somewhere, but I can't quite place it. That's going to bother me. "Don't get too close to the edge, Jeremy." His dad's voice cautioned as we stepped near the cliff. "I know, Dad. Don't worry." I smiled b
I added a little more yellow to the red, unhappy with the orange color I had a moment ago. Trying to get the color right in these trees was driving me insane. I know that it doesn't have to be exact, but the perfectionist in me is telling me otherwise. I painted most everything else already just needed those speaks of orange leaves. I had already painted the trail and tree from ground level as well as the entrance to the cave. I am finishing up the view from the clearing, the image I swear I've seen somewhere before. "I think I know where you've seen that before." Nate broke my focus with his voice. He had been in Stoic's office when we told him what I had seen and he tagged along back to the room. "We saw it in our English class. The professor said he liked to take hikes in those woods and showed us that exact image. A photograph he had taken before." I snapped my fingers remembering it now. "That's right! I remember that now. So he woul
Nate's P.O.V. I headed back to her room, getting there within a couple minutes. I knocked, waiting for her to answer. "It's open." She yelled. "I've come for your works of art." I smile wide as I enter the room, trying to mask any other emotion from playing on my face. "They're on the desk. Careful, they are still a bit wet." She yelled out from the bathroom. I walked over to the desk, admiring the paintings again. She's so talented. I looked over to the bathroom and she had left the door cracked just the slightest. She didn't mean to, I am sure. The crack is so small, but my dragon eyes can see so much with such a crack. She's standing straight taking her bra off. Normally I can control myself, but today I can't. I watch with anticipation as the bra falls to the floor revealing her light pink nipples. Her breasts are beautiful, perky and round. I can feel myself get hard under my pants. I need to leave now before I lose co
Rain's P.O.V.I stood in my room, dazed and confused. I almost chased after Nate when he left. Heli was the one that kept us contained in the room. Her sense of self coming to her before my own. What the hell was that?'Dragon pheromones.' Heli responded. 'You mean Nate did that?' I find it hard to believe. He wouldn't have done that on purpose at least. Right?'Yes, but I don't think he did it on purpose. Rain, he's the one that stopped us and left. Normally a dragon won't leave until they think you're pregnant with their child. Nate showed great restraint just now.' Heli reminded me of the events that just played out. She was right. Nate was trying to leave quickly, and I stupidly had him wait. I was the one that lost myself and I was the one that kissed him. He kissed me back though, but it was probably his dragon taking over. Guilt started churning my stomach. Did I just unintentionally cheat on my mates with my best friend? What a cliche! I
For some reason my heart was fluttering against my chest, like the wings of a hummingbird. I made my way to Nate's room, his sweet smile coming to mind. I can't lose him as a friend. We need to talk about this. I need to make sure it wasn't anything more than his dragon. It can't be anything more than that. My mind was running a mile a minute, so distracted that I didn't even bother to knock as I got to his door. I just pushed it open without a second thought. I found Nate standing beside his bathroom door. He was shirtless, water glistening across his torso, making his time abdominal muscle shine. He had a towel wrapped low around his waist showing me that deep v line that leads to his groin. He had another smaller towel around his shoulders, using it to dry his tousled shaggy blonde hair. It looked almost silky when it was wet. My heart stopped fluttering and I swallowed hard. I had never really lusted over Nate before until now. The way he looked rig
"He what?" My head felt like it was about to explode from what my father just told me. I knew Evandrus always seemed like a snake, but I had no idea how evil he really is. "Rain, you can't tell anyone. It'll put them in danger too." My dad warned me, and it angered me that I had to keep this a secret. Everyone should be warned about him. He could see the anger boiling up inside of me so he added. "He's a slippery snake, Rain. He has safeguards for his safeguards and he's had all this time to make sure he won't be caught. It's almost impossible to prove what I've told you, especially after all this time.""Is this why you never told anyone why you left? Why never spoke to anyone either? You were worried they would be in danger?" He nodded his head at my realization. A few tears left my eyes for him. He had to run away from home and lose touch with everyone he cared about because of Evandrus. He didn't want to leave, he had to. Eragon was ri
