They were keeping Charles' father and my dad in a secluded area of the building for everyone's safety. We were allowed to see them, but they couldn't leave their room. I didn't like that very much, but I didn't have a leg to stand on right now. I was in a lot of trouble for disobeying a direct order from Stoic. I don't regret it though. No way was I going to stay in the building and not go help Charles.
He said he was contemplating my punishment still. Nate defended me though and told his father he has no just cause to punish me. That staying in the council wasn't part of my sentencing. My father's shoulders slouched his eyes misting over. I've never seen him look so fragile, except for when I found him in the darkness. "Lucy.." Dad cried for a while over James. He cried over the time he missed with us. He threw things as his sadness turned to anger. Anger over how he was a prisoner in his own body and mind. Anger over how weak he felt, never being able to beat the demon on his own. Anger at all the things he missed out on while I grew up. After a long day, I was glad to find Eryn and Charles in the dining hall together. They were arguing again, but I was beginning to find it kind of endearing. My mother's questions never relented. She asked Eryn about his childhood, which parent he was closest to and why. How he felt about being mated to a werewolf and more. I am starting to hate Clarice. Her instructions are cryptic and not very forthcoming. She tells me to do something, but she doesn't tell me how to do it. I think it's because she doesn't really know, and I can't really hold it against her. She isn't a chosen one, her mother was, so there is only so much she can know. I walked behind Jeremy's dad, following him closely. We were hiking up a trail. Nothing but the sounds of birds singing and leaves crunching beneath my boots surrounded us. It was very tranquil and really quite beautiful. I got the sense that Jeremy and his dad were human. Sounds didn't sound as clear through his ears and the colors weren't as vibrant as usual.
