After settling everything with Lia and the other interns, I left the room in a huff. When I came face to face with my mother, I glared at her for a long moment without speaking. I might respect and love my mother, but she crossed the line. I might not have any proof, but I was sure she was behind Lia getting assigned to Shaw.

“You can be mad at me all you want, but I am doing this for your own good. Lia isn’t good enough for you. The only one you should be with is her.” My mother gently shoved Arielle toward me.

I noticed the moment that Arielle pretended to lose her balance as she fell toward me. She was clearly trying to use dirty tricks to get close to me. Reacting quickly, I stepped back to avoid Arielle falling into me while pivoting to the side.

Jaxon exited the office at the perfect time and stuck his foot out to cause Arielle to trip for real. “Oh, sorry about that.” Jaxon smirked.

“You should really watch where you are going.” I commented as Jaxon stepped over Arielle
