Chapter Four (Alexis)

"I'm sorry Mrs. Brown all we can do is wait for your daughter to wake up, her vitals are fine"

"How long do you think it will take before she wakes up" I could hear a woman say she sounded like she had been crying 

"its up to your daughter ma'am, we've done all we can" 

"thank you doc" I heard the woman say then I heard feet shuffling and the sound of a door opening and closing

"Its okay hunny, our baby is strong she will pull through" I heard a deep voice say then more sniffling from the woman 

"Its been almost two days Darrell and nothing, I'm scared"

I started to open my eyes slowly. The room was bright and I immediately closed my eyes. I lifted my hand up to sheild my eyes from the brightness of the room and tried opening my eyes again 

"Tonya baby look" 

I opened my eyes and only saw white for a few seconds before the room finally came into view I'm in a hospital room I looked down at the IV in my arm and looked around the room. There was a black woman and man hudled together on the side of the bed the both were looking at me 

"uh" I attempted to speak but it felt like I had sw*llowed a mouthful of sand "w* w* w*ter" I struggled to say

"oh oh sorry ladybug" the man walked to the table near the wall adn grabbed a cup of water 

When he brought the cup to my lips, I drank the cool water in one gulp. He poured me more and I gulped that down too, it felt like I hadn't had water in days 

"slow down baby or you gone choke" the woman said smiling at me 

Baby?

"honey imma grab the doctor" the man said placing the pitcher of water and the cup back on the table and walking out the door 

"how do you feel sweetie, you gave us a scare" she said taking my hand into hers before I could protest I looked at my hand my now black hand

"AHHHH" I screamed making the woman jump back I inspected my hand then my arm, I removed the blanket from my legs my now black legs what the hell is going on

The woman was looking at me as if I was insane but I didn't care this is not my body. I jumped up from the bed and tore the IV from my hand, it hurt but my adrenaline was running to high for me to care.

I raced to the bathroom, locking the door behind me and looked in the mirror, Naomi's face stared back at me what no what the actual fuck is going on 

I touched the braids in my hair and stared into the mirror, I closed my eyes ad counted to ten then I reopened them but the face Naomi's face never went away "AHHHHH" I screamed again this can't be real it's gotta be a dream no way I'm in Naomi's body 

I turned the faucet on and splashed my face with cold water Wake up Alexis wake up I looked back in the mirror and still saw Naomi's face "ugh come on"

knock knock 

"Honey is everything alright in there, the doctor is here and he feels is best you come lay back down"

I took a couple of deep breaths before opening the door, the woman was standing there looking concerned and the man was back with the doctor 

I smiled small and sat back down in the bed 

"How are you feeling Naomi" I heard the doctor ask "Naomi.... Naomi" 

The woman tapped my leg "the doctor is talking to you"

I looked at her confused then remembered whose face I seen when I looked in the mirror I'm Naomi, these people have got to be her parents and I'm in the hospital and I'm Naomi oh GOD I looked up at the doctor "I'm feeling fine"

He nodded his head "you were screamng could you tell whats that about" He asked looking at me 

"oh I just had this really bad dream.. a nightmare actually"

"well it was just a dream, you're fine now"

yeah right

"hows the other girl doing, I was told Naomi wasn't alone during that storm" The man asked

"I can't go into details about my patients but she hasn't woken up yet"

Other girl.. thats me I've got to be the other girl I thought to myself tuning out the rest of what the doctor was saying 

"can can I see the other girl" I spoke the all stopped talking and looked at me

"oh honey I don't know if you should, you're not yourself just yet and I think you shoulf have more tests ran on you beca-"

"I'm fine uh mom, I just was a little confused when I woke up"

She eyes me suspisciously "I still don't know about going to see the other girl, what were y'all doing in that awful storm anyway"

oh yeah the storm, me and Naomi were fighting then falling, sliding rain mud I closed my eyes and tried to remember but I couldn't "I I I don't know but maybe Nao- I mean Alexis remembers please can I see her?" 

The woman turned to the doctor "could she see her friend for a moment maybe if she hears her voice she'll wake up" 

"I would have to ask Alexis's parents first but I don't see why not" 

My parents are here, they actually came 

I stood up from the bed and started walking towards the door "just one moment Naomi I had a couple more questions to ask you" the doctor said but I was already out the door 

I gotta see my parents I can't believe they're here

"Naomi get back here, where are you going" I could hear Naomi's parents say behind me but I was going to see my parents 

I speed walked looking at the names on the doors until I saw the word Dunham yess the room was only four doors down from the room I was in. I could hear Naomi's parents footsteps growing closer but I didn't care

I opened the door only to see my cook Lisa and my house keeper Jessie they both looked at me confused, they were standing at both sides of the bed and I was laying in the bed but that wasn't even my concern 

They didn't come my parents didn't show up, their daughter is laying in the hospital for days and they couldn't even visit me they sent the help.
