Leah POV While looking in the mirror, I had two options. I could use my magic and clear off the bruises so Damien doesn't see them or I could let them be. If I use my magic, Marcus and Stephanie would be suspicious since they had seen how bad my face was. I sighed. All this was a hassle I didn't want to go through. I said a little spell to reduce the bright purple marks on my face before leaving the room. “Good morning Luna,” Evelyn said, glancing at my face with pity written all over her. I hated that look. I didn't want to look pitiful. It irked me. “Morning, you called Marcus earlier. How did you know Stephanie was in the room?” I asked her, giving her a suspicious look. No one should be able to hear what happened inside my room due to the magic I placed around it. “The door was slightly open when I was passing by and I heard her voice. I knew I wouldn't be able to defend you so I ran to call the only person available. I'm sorry I arrived late. I will never leave your door
Damian POV Her expression went from worry to shock to anger all in the space of a minute. I was going to explain everything to her earlier when I came back but then I saw the bruises on her face and decided to wait. Later while eating, I wanted to bring it up again but hesitated. Telling her that the gems she had been working very hard for had been stolen was not something I wanted to do. It was harder than I thought. Connor had volunteered to break the news but I didn't want that. I wanted to be the one to tell her and apologize for the lack of foresight. I should have increased the guards guarding the factory and made sure the borders were properly guarded. After the little attack we had when we went to the market a few weeks ago, I should have known there might be an attack soon. Right now, I was waiting for my Beta, Stephanie to come back. She was the one in charge of protecting the borders and I heard that last night she didn't delegate many men to the borders. I noticed
Leah POV I was mustering the courage to not yell or cry as Damein took me to the factory. My efforts had all gone down the drain and there was nothing I could do about it. Everyone was silent, the both of us. After deciding to go ahead with the work, Damian became quiet. I didn't know what he was thinking and I wished I knew. He kept giving me a look filled with guilt like everything was all his fault. I wanted him to stop blaming himself but I knew it wouldn't work. He was an Alpha and it was their duty to take care of the people in the pack. He might be thinking he has failed me. We got to the clearing, leading to the pack house and the factory when I saw Connor standing with Marcus. Their expressions were both filled with worry. I didn't have to wait for them to tell me what they found because they found nothing. Damian held my hand and we walked up to them. As they saw me, they looked away and bowed. “Did you find anything? Any trace at least?” Damian's voice was filled
Damian POV I stared at Stephanie as Anne walked away. I wanted to go to her and apologize for Stephanie's behavior but I knew I had to speak to her first. When Anne and the rest were gone, I grabbed Stephanie's arm and pulled her into the woods. We had to speak privately. “Don't follow me, Marcus,” I growled at him as he followed us. He stopped and stood by the side and I was grateful for his obedience. We entered the woods and I kept pulling her. She pulled her arms away from my grip and stopped walking. “Stop manhandling me, Alpha,” she hissed angrily. I had had enough. “What the hell is your problem, Steph? We are having a serious crisis right now and you think now is the perfect opportunity to try and piss me off?!” I yelled. She rolled her eyes and brushed some tips of her hair that had covered her face backwards. “You're the one I should be asking. What the hell is wrong with you?” “Stephanie!” I growled, narrowing my eyes. “Don't Stephanie me! You lied to me,” sh
Leah POV My wolf was waking up, I could feel it. Despite trying to force her into a deep slumber, she was beginning to fight back and wake up. The more I tried to suppress her, the harder it became. She was getting stronger. Connor had been asking me stupid questions ever since I growled so I had no choice but to send him away. Right now he knew Damian and I had gotten close, so he did whatever I told him to without hesitation. For a moment I was glad about that. At least I wouldn't have to deal with his nuisance. Even Evelyn was shocked by my growl but what bothered me was not because she was starting to wake up, it was the words Connor said. “She seems unfamiliar though. The last time we met before you became sick, I could feel the aure from your wolf but this wolf feels different,” Connor had murmured as he kept asking me questions and I refused to say anything. Out of fear, I told him to leave and stand at the other side as my guard. He had looked pretty hurt by my word
Leah POV He finally agreed and we deviated from going to the mansion to going to the borders. Evelyn looked uncomfortable like she was scared of something. When I asked her what was wrong, she shook her head. Since we were following the woods, the borders didn't take too long and we got there in no time. There were some men there, pacing around, their eyes alert for any danger. When they saw us, they bowed immediately. Right now everyone knew me as the Luna and I was given the respect I deserved. Except from someone else, I recalled. Stephanie didn't seem like someone who would ever respect me. She saw me as a nuisance, a pest that had taken what belonged to her. I knew I would never get her respect and I've come to accept it because neither would she earn my trust and respect. We stopped just at the borders when one of the men walked up to us. “Where is the Alpha?” Connor asked him. He pointed outside the borders. “He left with Sir Marcus a few hours ago and we haven't se
Leah POVIt felt like deja vu, a familiar feeling. Just like the last time they had brought Damian to the clinic. I could still remember it clearly. “What the hell happened?” I yelled, unable to hide the shock in my voice. All the guards looked at each other with guilt written all over their faces. They were the ones I had spoken to earlier on. They had been snobbish and rude and now they refused to meet my eyes. “He got attacked,” Marcus answered as they placed him on the bed. Damian groaned painfully with his eyes closed. I quickly went to work. I had been a bit tired earlier but right now I was filled with energy. I had to save Damian before Amelia came in. I cleaned his injury, disinfected it and applied treatment to it.No one said anything, they all wanted me to try to save their Alpha. Marcus looked so guilty and worried that I started to suspect him. There were various thoughts going through my head as I worked on Damian. Surprisingly, Stephanie left during the whole pro
Leah POV I couldn't believe she just did that. Stephanie gave me a smirk before walking away despite Connor's response. “Are you okay?” Connor asked, looking at me with concern. “Yes, let's go,’’ I told him and we walked out of the house. I wasn't going to give her the attention she was asking for. I knew why she was doing all these. She wanted me to report her to Damian so she could challenge me for being weak and unfair, of being the Luna, but I wouldn't. Especially not now when Damian was injured. We got to the clinic to see Amelia holding Damian's hands. My eyes narrowed suspiciously and it took everything within me not to push her out of the seat and pull her arm out. What was that? I frowned at my thoughts. I was becoming too possessive. Damian was not my mate so why did I feel the urge to kill Amelia for touching him? She turned around and saw us. Immediately she stood up and moved to the side. “You're back,” she murmured, glancing at Evelyn like they knew somethin
