Damian POV

Her expression went from worry to shock to anger all in the space of a minute. I was going to explain everything to her earlier when I came back but then I saw the bruises on her face and decided to wait.

Later while eating, I wanted to bring it up again but hesitated. Telling her that the gems she had been working very hard for had been stolen was not something I wanted to do. It was harder than I thought.

Connor had volunteered to break the news but I didn't want that. I wanted to be the one to tell her and apologize for the lack of foresight. I should have increased the guards guarding the factory and made sure the borders were properly guarded.

After the little attack we had when we went to the market a few weeks ago, I should have known there might be an attack soon. Right now, I was waiting for my Beta, Stephanie to come back.
