Chapter Thirty Nine.

Aurora’s POV

The sound of approaching footsteps brought me back to earth. I opened my eyes in alarm at the realization of what I had been anticipating. If I could slap myself I would have. How did my feelings switch so quickly between anger and lust? Would I really have let the man I hated so much kiss me?

“Come in,” Klaus’s voice was back to its authoritative tone.

Two young women appeared wheeling in trolleys of food.

“Come, let’s sit.” Klaus led me to a small table overlooking a window. I was still reeling from our encounter, I couldn’t form any arguments and could only follow.

The ladies set down different plates of food in front of us while taking peeks at me. I wondered if they could feel the tension in the room. I was still trying to calm down but Klaus appeared totally unfazed. Why was I the only one reacting so awkwardly? When our eyes met, he smirked knowingly at me. My cheeks heated and I quickly averted my gaze.

This was bad. Very bad.
