Emily POV

I didn’t miss the whispers as we walked into the diner. ‘Word sure travels fast around here.’ Hannah’s voice giggled through the mind link.

‘And inaccurately.’ I noted.

When the waitress approached us, I wasn’t sure if her wide smile was the same reserved for everyone or if it was due to my mate. I could tell her quick glare was reserved strictly for me, however.

She looked similar to the she-wolf from the common room, and I could detect a small resemblance in their scents as well. ‘I will rip her to shreds if she touches our mate.’ Kyra growled in my mind.

‘The glare was for me as the she-wolf that handled her sister, not as Easton’s mate.’ I replied, urging her to calm down.

I wasn’t expecting the waitress to be snarky, but I was expecting Hannah’s protective retorts that followed. I made a point to get her name and thank her when she brought our drinks out. I knew she had given me Diet Coke instead of Dr. Pepper because the color was slightly off. The othe

Emily POV I know Hannah knew I wasn’t staying behind to go to the restroom. I also know she would’ve done worse than Kayla if she thought someone had messed with her sister, or even me. “What did you tell them?” I asked Hannah with a laugh as Easton laced his fingers in mine. “That we’ll be getting food again in a couple of hours?” Hannah meekly tried to avoid it. “Marjorie doesn’t take anything out of her employees’ pay, especially if she says something is on the house.” Easton informed with a chuckle. “Really, Hannah?” I laughed. “Well, I know you won’t tell anyone. You never tell people about the good you do. Always trying to do everything behind the scenes.” She mumbled. “I don’t do things for public recognition. I do it because it’s the right thing to do. The only recognition I ever wanted was from my family and I gave up on that a long time ago.” I muttered. “Well, you’ll get a lot of recognition here. Better get used to it, Luna.” Ryan said with a wink. I sighed. “I mi

Emily POV Easton and Ryan were chuckling as we crossed the street. “You were serious when you said you graze, huh?” Easton questioned me playfully. “Did you think I was joking about food?” I shot back with a laugh. “Oh, Emily NEVER jokes about food.” Hannah deadpanned. “You don’t get hangry do you, Luna?” Ryan asked with a worried look. “She most definitely does. I bet she ate right before leaving for the gala the other night.” Hannah answered. “I do not get hangry! I was just fine yesterday between breakfast and our late lunch!” I retorted matter-of-factly. “Yeah, passed out, in the hospital, probably slept in the car, and probably had some ‘ahem’ *stress relief* a few times too.” Hannah muttered with a giggle. “Hannah!” I exclaimed. ‘Well you weren’t hangry, baby girl. Maybe it was the stress relief she mentioned.’ Easton’s voice joked in our mind link as Kyra spoke up, ‘Definitely was that.’ ‘Keep it up and you’ll see hangry.’ I suggestively replied to Easton

  • The Forsaken Daughter   36: More Control

Emily POV We left the cafe and walked back to Easton’s car. I couldn’t help but notice how the downtown area seemed like the perfect place to shop or just spend an afternoon. It was already late afternoon, so Hannah and I wanted to shower and change before the pack dinner. Can’t exactly show up to our introduction dinner looking like we’d been shopping all day. “So, what do y’all have to do tomorrow?” Hannah questioned as we drove to the pack house. I looked at her and realized she was asking Easton and Ryan. That’s right. Tomorrow is Monday so they will probably have to get back to work. “We have to get debit cards for the two of you and I have a few meetings to reschedule, but that’s it. Luke is handling some of our stuff and Dad is filling in the rest so we can kinda take this week to show y’all around and whatnot.” Easton casually replied. “You don’t have to take a week off. We can show ourselves around just fine.” I mentioned. “Yeah, I don’t want you getting behi

  • The Forsaken Daughter   37: Connection Issues

Easton POV I could tell Emily was feeling overwhelmed, but I couldn’t figure out how she was managing to completely block our connection at times. It wasn’t a block I could feel, and it didn’t feel like anything was missing. It was just like the connection and bond never existed. ‘Dallas, can you block the connection completely?’ I asked my wolf. ‘Not like mate can. She would feel it if we blocked it.’ He replied and I just hummed in response. I tried to recall anything I could about Fae and softly stroking Emily’s hair while she took a nap. I was grateful for my mother handling the introduction dinner tonight. She loves planning events, no matter the size, so I knew she was more than happy to do so. I had got lost in my own thoughts when Emily rolled over. I hadn’t noticed she was awake. I kissed her forehead and asked, “Sleep good?” She snuggled her head into my chest. “It was the best nap I’ve had in forever.” She mumbled. “Oh, so you’re a frequent napper then?” I jo

  • The Forsaken Daughter   38: Introductions

Easton POV Emily slipped her arm in mine as Ryan and Hannah did the same. Emily and I walked in with Ryan and Hannah behind us and the room immediately went silent. I felt the connection with Emily return for a moment, and I could feel her immense anxiety before the connection was blocked again. My parents had stood when we entered, and we approached their table and stood behind our seats to wait for my dad to give the introductions. “Good Evening, Silver Springs! I’m sure y’all have heard rumors of some members finding their mates, and I’m sure most of you felt two new connections added to the pack link last night. I’d like to introduce you all to Emily, Future Alpha Easton’s mate and your future Luna.” My dad announced with evident joy. He paused briefly as he gestured towards Emily. Emily raised her free hand to give a brief wave to the pack before Dad continued. “I’d also like to introduce future Beta Ryan’s mate, Hannah. Both of these wonderful ladies come from the B

  • The Forsaken Daughter   39: Dessert

Emily POV I couldn’t figure out what to make of the day. It was overall a great first day in a new pack, but I knew I wouldn’t be with Easton every waking moment, and I wouldn’t be with Hannah all the time either. I would have to make some friends here, but it didn’t look too promising so far. The pack dinner was fantastic, and I was glad to meet the pack members who came to introduce themselves. I was concerned the kitchen staff wouldn’t be able to join, but I noticed they all found somewhere to sit after all the food had been served. It was nice to be in a pack that allowed the kitchen staff to eat with everyone else after preparing the food. I felt relaxed and content as we said goodnight to Jason and Marie and made our way to our apartment. I was utterly exhausted despite taking a nap before dinner, so quickly got ready for bed. I decided to sleep in one of Easton’s t-shirts instead of my own sleepwear. I had gotten comfortable in bed when Easton climbed in behind me an

  • The Forsaken Daughter   40: Flashback

Emily POV I woke suddenly to the sound of a crash followed by screaming. ‘Kyra, what was that?’ I asked my wolf. I didn’t get a reply from her so I tried to feel for Kyra in my mind, but it was like she wasn’t there. I sat up to try and look around. The room was dark, but the door was cracked letting in a small sliver of light. ‘That’s not right.’ I thought to myself as I noticed there shouldn’t be a door on that side of the bed. Then I noticed the bed seemed to be in a different position. I looked around and quickly realized I was back in my bedroom in the Blue Moon pack house. Was this past weekend a dream? There’s no way it was a dream. Panic set in as I wondered how I got here and if my dad would really have me executed for being here. His voice boomed down the hallway, distracting me from my thoughts. “You will not harm her, Kate!” He roared. Who did she want to harm? “She doesn’t belong here, Adam! And you know it.” I heard my mother sneer. “She is my daughter.

  • The Forsaken Daughter   41: More Confusion

Emily POV “What do you mean?” Easton asked. “I was a kid again and I heard my parents arguing in the middle of the night. Daddy was yelling at mama about not hurting some “her” and mama said she didn’t belong there. Then daddy said that’s his daughter and that mama had done enough damage with her potion.” I rushed out. “A potion?” He mumbled with confusion. “That’s what I said. And he said something to her about she said she’d be my mother so she needed to be my mother.” I trailed off as a thought occurred to me. ‘Kyra, do you remember that?’ I asked my wolf. ‘I don’t remember very much from before you turned 4, honestly.’ She answered. “So, how old were you in the dream and why do you think it was a memory?” Easton inquired. “I tried to talk to Kyra and it was like she wasn’t even there. She doesn’t really remember anything from before I was 4, and the bedding was what I had when I was really young, before I even started school. And Mary came in my room at the end.

  • The Forsaken Daughter   73: Wise Words

Easton POV I felt like I’d lived an entire lifetime in the past three days. I could only imagine how Emily felt. I didn’t know anyone in the pack was part Fae, so it was a shock to learn Kent’s mate Michelle was. When Michelle agreed to speak with us upstairs, I thought we would just be discussing simple Fae abilities and maybe how Emily could use them. I definitely was not expecting Michelle’s grandmother to literally pop in and drop the answers to Emily’s questions right into our laps. I sat quietly while Aisling and Emily spoke, trying to take everything in and wrap my head around it. When Aisling said Emily’s mother was the Fae princess it explained why Emily had such a powerful aura and Alpha command. ‘So she’s technically a princess, too.’ Dallas preened. ‘I guess.’ I replied. ‘Definitely explains why she’s stronger than her dad.’ My heart clenched when Aisling said she would take Emily to the Fae kingdom, but I was quickly relieved when she added that she would t

  • The Forsaken Daughter   72: Real Answers

Emily POV “The entire Fae Kingdom?” I questioned. “Yes, dear. Your mother was the princess.” I blinked a few times as the words registered. I downed the rest of my drink before slowly standing and walking to refill my glass. If my mother was the princess, what does that make me? Surely they don’t expect me to rule the kingdom one day. I suppose that could also explain why Alpha commands don’t work on me and why I’m stronger than my dad. Everyone in the office quietly watched me as I walked back to the couch and sat down. “Who in their right mind marks some mediocre she-wolf when they’re already mated to a freaking PRINCESS?” I half-shouted to no-one in particular. I then remembered Easton saying he bet it was a love potion Katherine used. I turned to look him.

  • The Forsaken Daughter   71: Family

Emily POV We walked into my office and I walked straight to the bar. “Coffee or cocktail?” I offered. “An Old-Fashioned for us, please.” Kent replied. Easton had followed me to the bar and instructed me to sit while he made the four of us drinks. I went to sit on the couch and motioned to the chairs to instruct Kent and Michelle to sit as well. When we were all sitting, I took a deep breath as I contemplated where to begin. Easton gently nudged me. I took a large gulp of my drink before starting. “So, this information is confidential. Can y’all assure me you won’t discuss this outside of this room?” I asked. “You have our word. It remains between the four of us.” Michelle stated sincerely. “After we mated, I learned that Katherine is not my biological moth

  • The Forsaken Daughter   70: Startling Surprise

Emily POV Michelle was the opposite of most of the she-wolves I had met in Silver Springs, or ever, really. It was apparent that she had a no nonsense attitude and I was a bit taken aback at her grave demeanor. I felt an instant connection with Michelle for some strange reason. She didn’t seem to be overly friendly or over talkative, but I could sense something in her that seemed to tie us together. My wolf could sense it as well. ‘I don’t know what it is but it’s intriguing.’ Kyra mumbled to me. I was surprised to learn she was originally from the Conecuh Forest pack. Everyone I had met from that pack was usually playful and unserious. Like Jake without the arrogance and douchery. I told her I was originally from Blue Moon, and she looked at me quizzically for a brief moment and asked, “Who are your parents?” Hannah sensed my hesitancy and blurted, “She’s Alpha Adam’s oldest daughter.” “Well, I’ve always doubted the rumors about you, and after meeting you I’m glad I

  • The Forsaken Daughter   69: Smells like Teen Spirit

Emily POV Easton chuckled and slowly slid out of me. “It’s definitely my new favorite pastime.” He started to move away from me, and confusion washed over me until he reassured me with a light kiss on my forehead. “I need to throw the condom in the trash.” I hummed at his statement as he walked off. My eyes started to flutter closed, and I felt Easton slip back on the couch beside me and pull me close in his arms right before I drifted off to sleep. I woke up when the urge to use the bathroom hit me. I was cuddled close against Easton, and was thinking of a way to get up without waking up. I finally decided there wasn’t a way to do so since we had fallen asleep on the couch and I was between him and the back cushions. I tried to sit up, but he tightened his grip around my waist and mumbled something in his sleep. “Babe.” I whispered. I moved one hand to his cheek. He hummed in response and his eyes fluttered briefly. “I need to get up.” I said. He opened his eyes and loc

  • The Forsaken Daughter   68: Killing Time

Emily POV I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t for Easton to kiss the mark on my neck and ask, “Do you like this?” He continued to lick at the mark and kiss it and I couldn’t stop the small moan that escaped me as he did. “I more than like it.” I whispered. I slid my hands underneath his shirt to lightly stroke his back. His hands cupped my ass and I knew how I wanted to spend the time before dinner. He pulled his head from my neck and our lips met instantly. It didn’t take long for Easton to lift me, and I wrapped my legs around him. I grabbed the bottom of his shirt and pulled it up. He pulled his lips from mine just long enough for me to pull his shirt over his head. I was glad he’d decided to wear a polo shirt instead of a button up. Easton had walked us to the couch, and he sat down with me in his lap. I leaned back and pulled my own shirt off. His eyes darkened as he looked at me. He reached around to unhook my bra, and I let it fall. His mouth went to o

  • The Forsaken Daughter   67: Alone Again

Easton POV I followed Emily into the kitchen and ignored Aunt Evelyn’s teasing. I leaned on the kitchen island and watched Emily start the coffee maker and get creamer and a bottled water out of the fridge. She caught me watching her and leaned over the island to whisper, “Anything you’d like to share with the class, Alpha?” “I definitely don’t want to share this with anyone.” I murmured. Emily stood to walk back and add creamer to her now-finished cup of coffee. She put the creamer back in fridge and asked, “Did you want anything?” “I think we gotta wait for what I want.” I winked. “Well, can’t say I’m surprised by that.” I heard Aunt Evelyn say from behind me. “Well, at least I’m not trying to drag her off with y’all in the living room.” I mumbled. She smirked at me and looked at Emily. “I have that monthly dose for you. It should be effective within twenty-four hours of taking it, so I suggest using other methods for the first day or two after.” She handed Emi

  • The Forsaken Daughter   66: Relief

Easton POV When Emily got out of the SUV I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. I was relieved she was finally back in my sight after only a few hours apart. I gave her a tight hug and started to passionately kiss her, but quickly remembered our audience and pulled away. I looked at Callie when I heard her giggle. “Told you they were miserable.” She winked at Emily. “Babe, you know it’s normal for newly mated couples. Besides, Easton got teased enough today by Aunt Evelyn.” Luke laughed. I turned to glare at him and saw that Luke was watching Ryan and me knowingly. I guess he had experienced this feeling when he and Callie were newly mated. I told Emily they could go upstairs and we’d get the bags, but she said it would be quicker if we all got them. Callie suggested taking them to their suite, so we decided on that. Once we had all the bags, I turned to dismiss Kent and Mitch. I was taken by surprise when Kent and Mitch looked to Emily and asked to carry the

  • The Forsaken Daughter   65: Online Shopping

Easton POV “Aw, come on! Can’t we play a few more games?” Ryan whined. “Fine.” I grumbled. “We’re playing Mario Kart, though.” I knew it would be a good idea to distract myself (and Ryan) from the fact that our mates were out shopping without us. We walked over to the side of the arcade where game consoles were. We sat down and grabbed three controllers to start our game. Several Mario Kart races later, Ryan and Luke were both pouting at my wins. “How do you always beat us in this?” Luke mumbled. I shrugged. “When you’re the best, you’re the best.” I smirked. Ryan huffed in annoyance. “I’ll win one day.” “Not today. It’s time to go back to work.” I said as I stood up. Ryan and Luke followed me. “Why is it so empty in here today?” I asked as we walked towards the exit. “Probably because school isn’t over for the day.” Luke said. I took my phone out to check the time and grumbled internally. Time seemed to moving slower than usual. Luke seemed to know what I
