Easton and Ryan showed us the rest of the offices and that’s when it finally registered that the Alpha floor was the top story. The floor below the offices and conference room had guest rooms for visiting Alphas, and below that were living quarters for wolves residing in the pack house. The floor containing the living quarters seemed much larger than the ones above it since it was more like a dormitory and didn’t need to deter unwanted guests. In the middle there were large communal bathrooms where the other stories would have been separated to the sides.
We walked down the stairs to the bottom floor and I could tell what Easton meant about the front and back being separate. The first floor contained the pack kitchen and dining room on one side, and a large common room on the other side. Walking through the hallway to the back, we entered a large event room. The event room had tall ceiling, and stairs leading up both sides with balconies overlookEaston POV: Before I began showing Emily around the pack house, I decided I needed to program her fingerprint into the lock system. I explained the reason for remodeling and extra security, and I couldn’t help but shudder as I remembered walking in my bedroom to find a naked she-wolf. Dallas tried to take over and rip her limbs off before tearing out her throat at the unwanted intrusion. I could tell Emily sensed my disdain at the memory because I felt her bliss and relief through our bond. I was worried she would be jealous as I recalled the story. I knew the false rumors that went around about me. We went to the Beta floor to meet Ryan and Hannah and I was not surprised to find him eating cookies so soon after breakfast. I also wasn’t surprised he didn’t save me any. As we showed the ladies the office floor, I was growing more and more anxious. I was worried Emily wouldn’t like the interior design of
Emily POV We decided to go to a diner for lunch when Easton mentioned he had to get his keys. While he went to our apartment, Hannah and I decided to look at the common room. Ryan went to the kitchen to get us some water. We had barely stepped inside the common room when I felt someone squeeze my ass. I knew it wasn’t Easton and I turned around to see a guy who couldn’t be much older than eighteen smirking at me. “Hi gorgeous. You look like my next girlfriend.” He said. “Strange. You look like the next person to get their ass handed to them by me.” I retorted. “Aww, honey. You couldn’t if you tried.” He grinned as he reached his hand towards my face. Hannah scoffed at his remark as I grabbed his arm and twisted it around. He raised his free hand in attack, but I quickly spun around and used the leverage I had to force his body to the ground. I was fuming with anger as I told him, “If you touch me or say anything else remotely inappropriate to me you will die.” I turne
Easton POV I got a quick rundown on what happened in the common room while we were on the way to the diner. Ryan was right; I really do have myself a badass Luna. I was thinking about the fact that it’s unusual for females to have an Alpha aura when we pulled up to the diner. We went in and the diner suddenly went quiet. ‘Is that what usually happens when you show up in public?’ Emily mind linked me. ‘Not really.’ I linked back. As we walked to the corner booth, I could hear the other customers begin to talk again. “That’s the next Luna, the tall one.” I heard someone whisper as we walked by. “I heard she knocked out two warriors at once” Another whispered. The noise slowly began to build back up. I stopped to turn back towards the whispers, but Emily nudged me to continue. We sat down as the noise began to slowly build back up. A young she-wolf quickly made her way towards our booth. “Alpha, Beta,” she started with a wide smile, “here are your menus. What can I get you
Emily POV I didn’t miss the whispers as we walked into the diner. ‘Word sure travels fast around here.’ Hannah’s voice giggled through the mind link. ‘And inaccurately.’ I noted. When the waitress approached us, I wasn’t sure if her wide smile was the same reserved for everyone or if it was due to my mate. I could tell her quick glare was reserved strictly for me, however. She looked similar to the she-wolf from the common room, and I could detect a small resemblance in their scents as well. ‘I will rip her to shreds if she touches our mate.’ Kyra growled in my mind. ‘The glare was for me as the she-wolf that handled her sister, not as Easton’s mate.’ I replied, urging her to calm down. I wasn’t expecting the waitress to be snarky, but I was expecting Hannah’s protective retorts that followed. I made a point to get her name and thank her when she brought our drinks out. I knew she had given me Diet Coke instead of Dr. Pepper because the color was slightly off. The othe
Emily POV I know Hannah knew I wasn’t staying behind to go to the restroom. I also know she would’ve done worse than Kayla if she thought someone had messed with her sister, or even me. “What did you tell them?” I asked Hannah with a laugh as Easton laced his fingers in mine. “That we’ll be getting food again in a couple of hours?” Hannah meekly tried to avoid it. “Marjorie doesn’t take anything out of her employees’ pay, especially if she says something is on the house.” Easton informed with a chuckle. “Really, Hannah?” I laughed. “Well, I know you won’t tell anyone. You never tell people about the good you do. Always trying to do everything behind the scenes.” She mumbled. “I don’t do things for public recognition. I do it because it’s the right thing to do. The only recognition I ever wanted was from my family and I gave up on that a long time ago.” I muttered. “Well, you’ll get a lot of recognition here. Better get used to it, Luna.” Ryan said with a wink. I sighed. “I mi
Emily POV Easton and Ryan were chuckling as we crossed the street. “You were serious when you said you graze, huh?” Easton questioned me playfully. “Did you think I was joking about food?” I shot back with a laugh. “Oh, Emily NEVER jokes about food.” Hannah deadpanned. “You don’t get hangry do you, Luna?” Ryan asked with a worried look. “She most definitely does. I bet she ate right before leaving for the gala the other night.” Hannah answered. “I do not get hangry! I was just fine yesterday between breakfast and our late lunch!” I retorted matter-of-factly. “Yeah, passed out, in the hospital, probably slept in the car, and probably had some ‘ahem’ *stress relief* a few times too.” Hannah muttered with a giggle. “Hannah!” I exclaimed. ‘Well you weren’t hangry, baby girl. Maybe it was the stress relief she mentioned.’ Easton’s voice joked in our mind link as Kyra spoke up, ‘Definitely was that.’ ‘Keep it up and you’ll see hangry.’ I suggestively replied to Easton
Emily POV We left the cafe and walked back to Easton’s car. I couldn’t help but notice how the downtown area seemed like the perfect place to shop or just spend an afternoon. It was already late afternoon, so Hannah and I wanted to shower and change before the pack dinner. Can’t exactly show up to our introduction dinner looking like we’d been shopping all day. “So, what do y’all have to do tomorrow?” Hannah questioned as we drove to the pack house. I looked at her and realized she was asking Easton and Ryan. That’s right. Tomorrow is Monday so they will probably have to get back to work. “We have to get debit cards for the two of you and I have a few meetings to reschedule, but that’s it. Luke is handling some of our stuff and Dad is filling in the rest so we can kinda take this week to show y’all around and whatnot.” Easton casually replied. “You don’t have to take a week off. We can show ourselves around just fine.” I mentioned. “Yeah, I don’t want you getting behi
Easton POV I could tell Emily was feeling overwhelmed, but I couldn’t figure out how she was managing to completely block our connection at times. It wasn’t a block I could feel, and it didn’t feel like anything was missing. It was just like the connection and bond never existed. ‘Dallas, can you block the connection completely?’ I asked my wolf. ‘Not like mate can. She would feel it if we blocked it.’ He replied and I just hummed in response. I tried to recall anything I could about Fae and softly stroking Emily’s hair while she took a nap. I was grateful for my mother handling the introduction dinner tonight. She loves planning events, no matter the size, so I knew she was more than happy to do so. I had got lost in my own thoughts when Emily rolled over. I hadn’t noticed she was awake. I kissed her forehead and asked, “Sleep good?” She snuggled her head into my chest. “It was the best nap I’ve had in forever.” She mumbled. “Oh, so you’re a frequent napper then?” I jo
