I ran as fast as I could as my breathe hitched. My heavy breathing was seen in the cold winter air as chills ran up my spine.

I tried hard to control my breathing and run faster at the same time. I tired to use my x-tray vision to see through the thick forest trees and I heard heavy paws on the ground making the ground beneath me shake like an earthquake.

They will never get me I swear it. I closed my eyes as I mumbled a short spell and trees flew in different directions. I heard their growls grow distant "you can run but you can't hide" my heartbeat increased as I kept running I know why they want me they want to test on me and they want to torture me but i can't let them get me not now not ever my parents wouldn't like that.

I pulled my sleeves as i stopped running and hugged my arms over my frail body and the cold hit me at once and my teeth began to clatter. Then i heard a loud growl shit shit as i positions ready to run, i saw a wolf on my face.

Then my eyes slowly opened.

I groaned as i brought my hands to my head which was throbbing at the same pace with my heart.. I slowly sat up and looked at my side table squinting my eyes to read the time on my alarm clock carefully it was quarter past seven.

"Maxine hope you're awake you need to prepare for school" my mum's voice sounded quiet tired outside my room she didn't even bother to knock urgh.... i hate school.

I slowly got up and prepared for school. The walk to school wasn't long at all but very tiring. It was so hot and cold at he same time that humid morning heat made me sweat buckets. My blouse was itching like crazy, and i couldn't scratch my armpits in public damn you society!. As i got into the school building the crowd made me groan internally the smell of sweaty bodies brushing past me made me scrunch my nose in disgust. I looked up and scanned the area calculating if it was worth getting squashed and smelly if i run through this crowd.

The perfume mixtures weren't helping either. I kept walking till i got to my locker. I quickly sorted out my books and made my way to my class. As i approached the principal's office, an elbow knocked into my shoulder causing me to rumble forward preparing for impact but then i stopped.

"Oh careful there" a boy yanked me up his grip steady around my upper arm. Thanks i smiled and my vision began to distort in color guess my contacts slipped. I quickly covered my right eye with my hands.

"Oh Maxine fancy seeing you here" i groaned internally as i turned to face our principal.

"Hello Mrs Stuart " she smiled cheekily and motioned for me to enter her office. This isn't how i pictured my day seriously. I walked in and looked around and that is when i noticed the boys sitting in her office. They where four of them. And they where all smiling at me. I rolled my eyes as i focused on Mrs Stuart.

"So i want you to help these young men get to their lockers okay?"

"Sure Mrs Stuart " i smiled and walked out. I could hear the boys walking behind me and i kept walking. The walk to the lockers took longer than it should've. With their schedules in my hands, i examined their locker numbers luckily enough , their lockers where very close. " here we are" i told the group "this is your locker Roberto, this is yours Caleb , this is yours Lexus and this is yours Damian" i pointed to all their lockers. " now if you would excuse me " i smiled and began to walk away

"Wait" a deep voice stopped me in my tracks. I slowly turned facing the four boys and that is when i took them in. Oh my God ! My heart skipped a beat as i looked at their faces damn they are attractive. "You didn't introduce yourself and we didn't introduce ourselves" i smiled trying to hide my shaking hands.

"Urm.....I'm Maxine " the boys nodded and the one that stopped me spoke first.

"I'm Caleb and this is Roberto, this is Lexus and this is Damian" he pointed at all of them. Caleb is very tall and lean with dirty blonde hair he looked exactly like the Lexus guy i guess they're twins. Roberto is darker in complexion with a very low cut. His hair was dyed blue and damn he looked like a rockstar. And Damian his eyes where piercing blue and his hair was thick black,wavy and long which laid perfectly on his shoulder. I smiled as they all nodded their heads towards me.

"Alright then nice to meet you all so I can go?" I don't know why but when i looked at Damian my wolf growled a loud growl but luckily for me, I'm the only one that can hear it.

Stop whining.

I told my wolf as i walked away not dare looking back.

School was boring as usual a lot of classes,small talks from friends and random people humans leave the most boring lives not like i know how my kind live i mean do i even have a kind? Oh well. I walked home and the hot sun was piercing through my skin i sighed as i wiped my face with my rag. The sun was so hot today and it is really annoying. Immediately i got home, i cleaned up and decided to go for a walk and also pick up some herbs. It was dark outside now as i put on a sweatshirt and sweat pants the night around here tend to be cold because of the trees and woods.

Yes woods. A very creepy place that my parents warned me never to go but what can i say the place has excellent herbs. I walked to the front door

"Ma ! I'm going for a walk" i didn't wait for an answer as i opened the door . the chilly night hit my face.

I start to run into the woods the moment i got a little bit deep, i increased in speed. The run was warming me up and i loved it. I got to the rosemary plant and. I stretched my hands towards the plant and whispered a spell and they started filling my basket. I turned around to start going back but then a scent hit. It was so familiar it almost smelt like.....the guys from school. My heart beat quickened as i tried to take cover. I quickly hid behind a tree as their scents grew stronger and their steps louder.

"Are you sure you heard someone?" Someone asked in a deep voice

"Of course Damian I'm not blind and deaf i swear i heard rustling" i think Caleb spoke. My heart beat grew slower as realization hit me. They are new in town so i guess they are just curious but curiosity kills the cat always and if what my parents say is true, they are not safe. I honestly wanted to show myself to them so that i could tell them this woods wasn't safe but what if they asked me what i was doing here i groaned internally as i stayed put.

"Guys.....i think we should go this place gives me the creeps" Caleb spoke again.

"Oh please Cal stop being a baby " someone snorted

"Screw you lex" yup it was Lexus.

"Seriously tho Caleb is right we should go" i guess that was Roberto "what do you think Damian" i guess Damian nodded and they started moving away. Minutes later, i could not hear footsteps. I quickly scanned the area and...nothing so i started walking slowly not to attract anything that can hurt me i guess.

"Stop" i swear i haven't even taken like ten steps. The deep voice that spoke to me made my wolf growl not in a bad way but in a..... " turn around slowly and tell us what you want " i didn't move an inch "now we don't want to hurt you " really? I laughed as i turned around with my hands in the air

"Don't shoot i swear i wasn't stealing much" i turned around slowly. They all walked towards me searching my face and then i guess realization hit them and they relaxed. I figured no one was willing to talk so i spoke first " may i help you?"

" what are you doing in the woods this late" Damian spoke slowly. Making my wolf make that ugly sound again.

Shut the fuck up okay..

"I came to get some herbs for my cooking but i should be asking you... You guys are new in town right? So what are you doing lurking in the woods" They all shifted uncomfortably

"None of your business " Rude!.

"Hey Damian that was rude" thank you Roberto. He turned and looked at me "we should all be going it's getting really dark"

"Yeah " i nodded and started walking fast this time. Crack!!!!! I heard a sharp tree crack whatever it was was very fast but before it could hit me, i saw it with my third eye. I shifted as fast as i could and the thing hit the tree beside me with a loud bang.

"Get behind me Maxine" Caleb dragged me and i willingly went i hate fight honestly and i can't have them finding out. I glanced at the place the thing hit and i then realized it's a wolf. A were wolf how on earth... The thing growled at Damian and my wolf growled deeply. I think the werewolf heard because his eyes shifted to mine immediately and it snarled.

Okay look what you've caused you whiny bitch.

I told my wolf as i backed away towards the tree.

"What do you want " Damian said his eyes not leaving the wolf.

"What do you think.." It growled "we want you dead" i think it chuckled. For real. And wait hold up! we? There's more? I knew i didn't want to meet these boys for some weird reason and here this is my reason.

"You've tried multiple times and you didn't succeed so what makes you think you can succeed" Roberto stepped forward.

"For starters we almost succeeded the last time but now... You're outnumbered and dead " the wolf laughed lowly and i heard shuffling. I quickly closed my eyes and whispered an energy reading spell ..twenty men or would i say wolves Okay I'm not dying here.

"You will never win oliver" okay quick question why does oliver wanna kill them boys.

"Shut up Vampire...." The wolf hissed Okay...that's why well damn i never suspected and i read that wolves and vampires never get along but this doesn't seem like a rootless beef i think it's more personal. "And we will take your little girlfriend here as a pet" my wolf grew angrier as she pushed to be released.

I can't risk them finding out they might just kill me.

"She's not my girlfriend and leave her out of this" this sounded both offensive and sweet. Then the attack began. Four wolves lunged them selves at Roberto and he used his speed to shift before they bit him. Others came out but i think seven stayed behind in the shadows. Oh ...shit i know what they are doing. These one would wear the guys out and then the strong seven would come out and finish them off i need to warn them but i can't. I sighed i brought this upon my self. I closed my eyes and whispered a striking spell. The sky became dark and a light blue lighting bolt bursted through the sky and struck the seven down well....i didn't mean for them to burn to ashes but they did. They where behind me so everyone turned towards me.

"Your....your....your....eyes...." Oh shit!!! Fuck fuck fuck! For all days to forget my contacts. Caleb was looking at me like i was some strange creature i mean i don't blame him its not everyday you see a girl with two different glowing eyes. One Red and one gold.

"No way..." They wolf growled "a hybrid " oh ok I'm dead i quickly looked at them and the four wolves remaining but before i could do anything, the wolves shuffled away like flash they where gone so it was just i and the guys.

"Urm.....since we are done here i think I'm gonna...go.." I smiled sheepishly and started walking

"Not so fast" Damian was in front of me. He was so close my wolf started pushing me. "What the hell are you"

"What?"

"I said what the hell are you" he growled with anger in his voice making my wolf whimper. I shifted uncomfortably

"A witch " they all looked surprise "_there i said it can i go now?"

"Wait the wolf mentioned Hybrid what are you i wont hesitate to snap your neck" i laughed internally as if.

"I'm half witch half human now i said it can i go? I'm growing a little bit impatient here" i became very serious.

"Damian i think we should let her go it's quite late" Damian sighed as Caleb put a hand on his shoulder. I took that as a she can go so i turned but before i moved

"Keep this a secret and I'll keep your secret " they all muttered a deal and i walked away.

In my room, i contemplated whether i should tell my parents. But if i do, i would be in big trouble i might be shipped i mean now a wolf knows my face. Shit! Shit! I'm in trouble.
