Five

The cold wind woke me up from sleep as I stirred slowly in my bed. I groaned to the side and fumbled around my bed stand until I landed my hands on my phone clicking to see the time. It was just five. I groaned again as I snuggled back into bed.

I tired really hard to go back to sleep but I knew it wouldn't be possible so I decided to get ready. My room was really cold. I quickly prepared for school. Shivering, I dressed quickly but why was my room so cold. U surveyed my room and did a double take as my eyes landed on my window.

Why is it opened? I am pretty sure I locked it last night.

I was scares really scared but maybe it was the wind or my parents or...... No no it can't be. It was getting to six as I strode down the stairs. My mum was in the kitchen cooking breakfast.

"Morning mum" I greeted as I sat on the dinning table.

"Morning sweetie how was your night" I shuddered at the thought of someone outside my window.

"Very cold"

"You and me both honey" she laughed "here" she dropped a plate of mashed potatoes. And I began to eat.

"Thanks ma" she nodded and served herself. "Ma"

"Mhm"

"Where you in my room last night?" My whole mind kept praying she would say yes

"No why?" Oh my

"What about dad?"

"No I don't think so" OK kill me now. "what's wrong?"

"Urm... Nothing I thought I saw you maybe I was dreaming" she looked at me for a while and nodded as she took her phone and began to scroll though social media.

"Hmm...what is happening to our town" mum said shaking her head slightly.

"What's wrong?" I asked not really interested.

"They found two people with dead with large injuries on their necks even tho one's neck was broken but no sign of a struggle " she stared at the phone "poor kids" my whole body stiffened. Broken neck injury. Neck!. Vampires and Necks!

No no no I know and I have rad about vampires and they always do a clean job always they leave no sign after feeding, the heal you and clear your memories that's their only power and they don't break necks so its definitely not the boys and if it isn't the boys then..... Werewolves?

Rain was still pounding off my roof as I walked to my room to get my bag. I looked at the window one more time and pulled it. I pushed the lock and it plopped back up. The relieve that washed through me as I realized it was the wind and the window was just broken was unbelievable. I shut the window and raced down the stairs.

" I'm off!" I screamed as I walked to the door I swear my spirit left my body as I came face to face with Damian.

"Hi" he looked so so....Urg....

"Hey.....what are you doing here?"

"Want a ride?" I searched his face and he looked serious. Where they trying to protect me? And I I really didn't want my parents to see him here so..

" yeah sure" I said and I got under his umbrella as he led me to his car.

"Hey there sexy Maxine" Caleb chirped as I got into the car.

"Sexy Maxine really?" Roberto scoffed I didn't know whether to be offended or thankful but oh well.

"Hey" I smiled at no one in particular.

"I thought you might need a ride since it's raining today" no shit Sherlock.

"Thanks Caleb "

"Don't take all the praise I told them first" Lexus turned to me.

"Oh please I did" Roberto chipped in.

"Urm....thanks a lot guys I really appreciate it " I said trying to avoid an argument.

He wanted to take you.

My wolf said slowly making me shudder.

Not today please.

I retorted Damian finally pulled up in the parking lot. The rain was getting heavier minute by minute. The five of us trudged into the school as rain fell on our sides. I shared Caleb's umbrella.

"Thanks for the ride " I said as I walked to my locker. I looked around and didn't see Ash I guess she hasn't arrived yet. So, I stacked my books and took out the ones I'll need for my class and walked to class. It was still early so I decided to sleep before the teacher came in.

The whole school day went by fast and I was so thankful. When the bell rang I went to my locker and I still noticed Ash wasn't there. I'll just call her when I get home.

"Hey" my heart skipped a beat as I turned to meet Damian's piercing eyes.

" you really need to stop sneaking up on me like that and how did you get here so fast?" Then it hit me as I raised my hands to my face. "You know what? Never mind " I shook my head as I headed towards the door.

"I love sneaking up on you" he said slowly "your reaction is priceless"

He said love.

My wolf began to whine again oh how I hate this. I zoned her out as I continued to walk with Damian beside me.

"What do you want" I finally stopped.

" want to come over today?"

"Me?" I asked with shock plastered all over my face .

"Yes you who else would I be talking to " I don't think this boy knew the meaning of nice. Every nerve in my body was screaming no no don't go but..

"Yeah sure .... Why?" I just had to ask.

"Well just wanted to hang out is that bad?"

"No no no I mean of course I'd love to hang out" I smiled as awkwardly made my way to my locker. I dropped my things and got ready to walk out of the school to my car when I realized I didn't actually bring a car. I sighed as I turned around.

"You're definitely avoiding us" Roberto chimed as their footsteps echoed in the hallway.

"Who? Me? No I'm not " i tired not to look at any of them. I'm so thankful they dropped it.

It was still raining out and puddles where forming in the parking lot as Damian went to get the car and we all piled in. It was a silent ride home. I fidgeted with my hands in the awkward and tense silence.

Immediately we got to the house, Damian parked the car in the garage which was connected to their house. The last time i was here, i didn't really check out the house well it's huge so so huge.

"Follow me" Damian literally ordered. As he turned and enter the house. I trotted along after him. He led me from the large living room to an unfamiliar room. He pulled the door and led me in. There was a large t.v and there was a single couch in Middle of the room.

"Your room?" I asked as i admired the room.

" i love to think of it as a lair" he smirked as i rolled eyes

"So tell me Damian why did you invite me to your house" i stared at him with a stern look on my face. I don't know what i was expecting but my heart was beating quite heavily.

"Well i wanted to get to know you better" he locked eyes with me.

"What?"

"Yeah i mean you're my mate after all" then my whole world stopped. What? Mate? He knew? Then why? "Yes i knew you where my mate since the day i saw"

"I.... I don't know what to say.." And that was the truth i didn't know how to handle this information. I mean what will happen now? Would we get married or something?. I'm so confused.

" don't worry Maxine I'm not interested in starting a park or coven so...." He looked at me deep in the eyes "you knew didn't you "

"Knew what?"

"That I'm your mate" i couldn't believe we where having this conversation.

"Well...yeah i guess..." He just stared me deep in the eyes and smiled.

"Well I haven't told the guys yet and i don't want this to be a big deal so.. Let's just keep it to ourselves is that okay?" My wolf's heart broke into a thousand pieces and so did mine.

"Yeah no problem i don't want it out there either"

My wolf chimed and i just stop there awkwardly. Well there goes my happy mate meeting nice. I suddenly felt someone's hand over my shoulder which made me jerk. I turned and noticed it was Caleb.

"Hey Sexy Maxine" he said smoothly which made Damian scoff. I tired to hide the hurt as i turned to Caleb with a smile. I ducked under his arm

"Hey Caleb" he put his hands again and dragged me towards the door.

"Not like I'm chasing you out of my house or anything but won't your parents kill you for being late ?" He smirked alerting me.

"Oh my ! What's the time "

" i think four pm or around that time not sure " Caleb said as we walked down the stairs.

"You need to drop me off" i looked longingly at him

"Not me Damian brought you here so he's gonna take you back"

"Me?" I swear i didn't notice him standing there and how... "Why me? You take her" Damian shrugged and leaned into the wall.

"Don't be a jerk and take her home " Lexus said stylishly striding down the stairs. Damian mumbled something beneath his breath as he took his key and walked out without saying a word.

"Don't mind him he gets moody like that " Roberto gave me a nod.

"Bye" i called out as i walked to the garage.

This is going to be a very long ride.
