Mae regretted having to break the news, but hiding the truth from Jane seemed futile now.

"He's off to marry someone named... Kaitlyn," Mae finally blurted out, causing Jane to choke on her breath.

Jane had sensed this outcome, but the confirmation still shattered her. Why did it feel like fate was conspiring against her and Dean? Was their love never meant to be? It seemed as though destiny itself was dictating that Dean belonged with Kaitlyn.
