Book 3 Chapter 20

Jane's voice caught in her throat upon hearing Kaitlyn's words.

"What... do you mean?" She asked nervously, attempting to lighten the mood with an awkward laugh.

Kaitlyn sighed, setting down her cup of coffee. Her gaze bore into Jane's with pleading and yet also with accusation.

"Please, don't get near my husband ever again, Jane Delgado. Not even that child," Kaitlyn demanded, her tone laced with a hint of threat.

Jane's heart sank as the weight of Kaitlyn's words settled upon her. She looked down at her feet, overwhelmed with guilt. This wasn't the first time she had felt this low, but facing the legal wife in person only amplified her sense of shame.

Kaitlyn knew. She already knew.

"I'm sorry..." Jane's voice cracked, her words barely above a whisper. The apology caught Kaitlyn off guard, her disbelief evident in her expression.

"What...?" Kaitlyn muttered, her tone softened by surprise as she looked down at Jane, who seemed unusually humble in the face of such confrontation.
