As Jane's phone rang in the dead of night, it jolted her awake from her sleep, leaving her disoriented and groggy. She hesitated for a moment before reluctantly answering with her heart pounding in her chest.

"Hello?" Her voice was scratchy with sleep, betraying her unease.

"Good evening, ma'am. I'm Officer Miles," the voice on the other end introduced itself politely, cutting through the fog of sleep. "Are you Jane Delgado?"

"Yes, it's me. What's going on?" Jane's mind raced with worry, her heart sinking at the sudden call as she carefully got up.

"We have a man here, Dean, who claims to be your husband. He's been involved in an altercation and is currently at the station. We need someone to come down and assist him," Officer Miles explained urgently, his tone serious.

Jane's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Dean's name. Panic seized her, and her stomach churned in concern. She couldn't believe Dean had gotten himself into trouble specially at this hour of the night.
