Chapter 19: No home and warmth

It was like a call in the darkness. My body was frozen in fear. Oishin’s commanding voice sounded on edge and I hung up the phone quickly. There would never be enough time in the world to calm my racing heart. I didn't stay there that night, I left immediately.

I knew I had to keep a tighter rein on myself. I couldn't let myself go, if not for me then for everyone else with me. I had to fight it with everything I had. I was terrified of what was happening. If I went then they went with me and that was the most terrifying part of it all. They needed me more than anything else.

So I tried. Whenever my mind drifted to him I thought of something else, anything else. It was beyond mentally draining and sometimes I would find myself disoriented and sweating profusely ready to lose consciousness. But it worked. I was holding on to my sanity.
