I woke up to the soft warm orange glow of light, night had fallen and it was now evening. The camp was a bit quieter as everyone was either eating dinner or settling down for bed. The dancing orange glow of fires outside were lit once more and scattered through the forest like fireflies. I shifted a bit and a startling realisation gripped me that sent me flying up out of the bed in panic and patting the space beside me hysterically. Eion wasn't beside me, he was gone. The space beside me was empty and cold. I had fallen asleep for Moon Goddess knows how long and I didn't even feel him being moved from beside me. Fear almost spilled my heart. I turned and almost jumped out of my skin when I saw him sitting on a chair in front of the table next to the bed with the lamp lit. A scream was stifled in my throat and I breathed out heavily in relief. I then remembered the events earlier and why there was a very large, bearded man in our room. The light from the lamp lit up Yuhan's hair, a
I did feel a lot safer with Yuhan. I woke up one morning to a thick comforter thrown over us to keep us warm from the incoming cold. He stayed and made sure we were fine. As the time wore on I came to trust him a bit more each day. He became a fixture in our lives. I didn't know how I could have gotten so lucky. The men didn't show up ever again, even when he wasn't present. They were afraid of him and any retribution he would meet. We were off limits and I couldn't be more thankful for my guardian angel. Overtime we got closer. He was a friend. My stomach had also grown. It was so large I couldn't believe it most times. I could no longer see my feet and getting up was a whole task. I was now waddling around near my due date. I also had to place a hand on my hip to move about. I thought of a few names but I haven't settled on anything yet. When they are born and I get to see them then I'll know what to name them. I was sitting on the top steps with Eion, taking in the cool
"I'm sorry—I am so sorry," I sobbed, kneeling beside her. The sound of her labored, uneven breathing became scarcely audible over the erratic pounding of my heart, but it was there. That's all that mattered. "Please, stay with me. Help is coming, I promise," I told her. My voice broke, coming out strained and desperate. I was desperate, though. How could I not be? I was desperate to save my mate, desperate for this to be just a horrible nightmare, desperate for her to be okay. Her body lay before me, bloodied and mangled. The ground beneath her was gradually becoming saturated, stained by the crimson liquid seeping from the open wound on her side. The mixture of blood, dirt, and sweat that marred my face was long forgotten. I didn't care that I was naked or that my leg had been broken. None of that mattered now; nothing mattered except for her. The sight of her beautiful heart-shaped face, which was slowly turning a ghastly shade of white, caused pain like nothing I had ever fel
It has been four years since I left that orphanage and I joined a pack. My kids and I were safe and we lived happily. The small pack named Lapis Lazuli accepted us without any doubt. Alpha and Luna treated my kids as their grandchildren and promised me if they pass away, Eion will inherit the pack. Due to birth complications and most of the pack members were elderly, my kids were the joy of everyone. The pack was located far away from big packs. In fact it’s close to the sea. Often Eion would swim and sometimes fish along with the aged Alpha. Today, the sky was grey and there was constantly threatening rain. It seemed fitting, however, as if the Moon Goddess wanted to cry with us. I for one, had already cried. I cried more than I thought anyone could. Rogues didn't attack packs anymore; we had been at peace for years now.Why her?Erica, who was a granny that took in and shared her house with us, was a simple woman, yet loved by so many in the pack. In fact, we were an all around si
“Eion is my son,” I told him. “From my previous mate.”Tyga stared at Eion and then smiled. “I’m your mom’s new mate kiddo,” he answered. Eion stared back at him and into me. Questions in his were apparent and I’m sure he’ll demand an answer from me later. "It was a beautiful ceremony, Mathus," Tyga said to my Alpha. Apparently Alphas referred to each other by first name. "But I seem to have found something much more beautiful, and we will be needing to return home now," he explained to Alpha Mathus.Alpha Mathus nodded in understanding and smiled kindly at me. He was happy for me. "Of course, Tyga. I know you'll treat her well," Alpha Mathus replied. I hoped he was right, because I wasn't so sure. Then a whimper got my attention. "Mommy...you're not leaving me and Chea are you?" Eion asked softly. My heart ached for a moment and I tilted my head up to face Tyga, the sudden realization of everything finally hitting me."With all due respect...Alpha Tyga," I started, almost acci
Tyga glanced over at me and furrowed his eyebrows in worry. "You don't look like you feel well," he stated very simply. His statements were always so straight-forward and lacking of much emotion. His emotions were visible, they just weren't expressive."I don't feel well. What's happening?" I asked with a groan as I closed my eyes and buried my face in my hands.Tyga chuckled again. How was this funny?"You must be car sick. I forgot you're not used to roads like this," he explained.Car sick? That was an actual thing?"Don't worry Aine, we're almost there," he said calmly and squeezed my knee gently as a reassurance. My cheeks turned a shade of deep pink hearing him speak my name. It was beautiful coming from his mouth, and my queasiness suddenly didn't feel quite as bad.The car came to a stop again and my eyes shot open. I gasped, taking in my surroundings once more. We were in a clearing at the top of an enormous mountain. Beautiful log style homes surrounded us, including a very
After Tyga’s mother finally released me from her relentless hug, I took a deep breath and looked up at both of his parents with my best smile."It's so nice to meet the both of you," I told them sweetly, unsure of what else to say at this moment. It was hard enough getting used to my mate, much less the rest of these new people.I’m scared. My ex in-laws treated me like garbage back then. I hope they’re not like them.Seeming pleased with my greeting his parents both took their seats. "My name is Veronica darling, and this is my grump of a mate, Henry," Tyga's mother explained to me with a giggle. I nodded to her with the same beaming smile. “And this adorable child is your daughter?” she asked and stared at Chea who was eating chocolate chips. She picked her up and showered her with a kiss. “Y-yes, Luna,” I replied.“She’s adorable!” Veronica squealed. “Henry, we have an instant granddaughter! Finally.”Alpha Henry smiled at his mate and then looked at me."We're so excited to have
It didn't take long for Tyga to wake up. I didn't even have to touch him. One moment he was dead-asleep and the next he was clinging to my side, whispering in my ear and smoothing down my hair. What really confused me though, was that he wasn't asking what was wrong."What is happening to me?" I wailed frantically as tears streamed down my face. The pain had subsided in all of the areas that Tyga was touching as he held me, but the rest of my body was still consumed by the fire.Tyga froze at my words and looked up at me with confusion in his eyes."You don't know?" he asked while raising an eyebrow at me."Of course I don't know! How am I supposed to know what's wrong with me!" I yelled before burying my face in his chest. His skin was the only remedy and I didn't understand why."Aine...you're in heat," Tyga whispered calmly.I blinked. Heat?!"What?!" I gasped, looking up at him once more. His eyes were dark and full of lust. I could now see that he was restraining himself as he co
