Chapter Fifty-Four

"Wait!" Dane said and stood up. "Does she have a headache or you are covering up for her?"

Henry cleared his throat. "It doesn't matter," he mumbled.

"You are making up the excuse for her boss. I see right through you."

Henry sat up and faked a smile. "What? What are you saying, Dane? We shouldn't be talking about this bro. And so what if she didn't show up today?"

"Well, the contract states that she mustn't miss work without any valid reason so I'm certain she's aware of that so tell me, boss, what happened?" Dane folded his arms across his chest.

"Fine. You are right. I'm making up excuses for her. The truth is we had an argument yesterday and I called her a slut." revealed Henry. He lowered his gaze to the floor.

Dane covered his mouth with both hands. "You did what?" he screamed and shook his head.

"And she slapped me." Henry disclosed.

"What? Eve slapped you?"

"Right on my left cheek."
