Emma’s pov
I looked at the falling slow and looked around the small town.
Everything was still closed, and I would love a cup of coffee.
But decaf, and I am really hungry right now.
I haven’t been eating well for days now and I need a proper meal.
I walked around the empty streets, in this cold weather people are locked up in their rooms.
“You seem like you need a strong cup of coffee,” a woman said, and I looked at her confused.
She had come out of a café, “actually, not that strong. Decaf maybe,” I said, and she smiled.
“Come in,” she said but the sign said that they are not open yet.
“Come on, I can’t let you freeze outside,” she said, and I nodded.
I walked in and the moment I walked in the smell of fresh baked food hit my nose.
I looked around her shop and for a second I couldn’t understand what it is.
It had what looked like a small, cute library and had all kinds of things.
Hot beverages and also baked things.
“I also sell flowers in spring as well,” she suddenly said.
I looked at her, she had these kind eyes, and she was beautiful.
Her face was clean and devoid of makeup, but she still looked beautiful.
It could be the red hair, the gentle smile, or the green eyes.
And she seemed to be in her late 20s as well which means she isn’t that old.
She came back with coffee and also a chocolate chip cookie.
“It’s decaf right?” I asked her and she smiled before nodding.
She then left for a few seconds and then came back with a blanket.
“You already let me in before your opening time, I can’t burden you like this,” I said, and she smiled.
“It’s just a blanket, take it for the little one inside you,” she said, and I looked at her confused.
“You asked for decaf coffee about three times. Not only that, but you have been touching your belly since you got here,” she pointed out. I realized that I had a protective hand on my belly.
“So, take it for your little one,” she said, and I nodded. I took the blanket and honestly it made a huge difference if I am being honest.
“So, you are new here,” she said, and I looked at her surprised.
“How do you know?” I asked her and she just shrugged.
“It’s a small town, everyone knows everyone here,” she explained.
“You must have a really interesting story to tell,” she said, and I shook my head.
“It’s not that interesting. I just needed to make a fresh start for myself,” I said, and she nodded.
“Do you know any place that I could rent? I am desperately looking for a place to stay,” I said, and she nodded.
“Yes actually, you are very lucky because I have also been looking for a tenant,” she said with a smile.
“Were you really? I don’t want to inconvenience you at all,” I said, and she chuckled. “
You worry too much; I own the building and I have one extra bedroom upstairs. That is if you don’t mind sharing space with us, it’s inside our apartment,” she said, and I shook my head.
“You will have your own bathroom,” she said, and I smiled.
“Okay, I will be your tenant,” I said, and she nodded with a smile. “By the way, my name is Daisy Nelson,” she said, and I held out mine.
“Emma Han, I mean Emma Cooper,” I corrected myself and she smiled.
“Nice to meet you Emma Han Copper,” she said, and I found myself smiling a bit at this.
“Come on, let me show you before I open. I will take to the furniture shop, and you can just write a list of things you will need. Obviously, a bed is one of them,” she said.
She took me upstairs and the room had a huge window that let a lot of natural light in.
Not only that but was big enough, I will be able to even put in all my baby things here.
It’s a perfect place for me, but what if she doesn’t want any baby drama?
Kids cry and tend to be very loud.
Well, I will just figure that out when I have settled down.
“Mommy,” a small girl said, and Daisy smiled.
“Hello baby, are you awake?” Daisy asked the little girl as she went to her.
“Yes, can I not go to school. I don’t feel well,” the little girl said and the fake coughed.
“Of course, my little Rose, you don’t have to go to school,” her mother said.
“If Rose isn’t going, then I am not going either,” a boy said coming in as well.
“She is kindergarten, it’s not actual school,” Daisy said.
“She is still a baby, my little baby will stay here with her mommy,” Daisy added kissing her daughter.
“I am not a little baby, you know what mommy, I feel so much better. I going to school, and kindergarten is actual school,” the girl said and stormed off.
“Kids are stupid, she could have had a day off, but she fell for your little trick,” the boy said.
He seemed to be 10 years or 11 years old.
“You also fell for that trick more times than I can count. So, stop acting like you are all smart now,” Daisy said.
The boy then looked at me.
“This is our new tenant,” Daisy introduced me, and I just waved.
“Hello, my name is Emma,” I said, and he nodded and then walked off.
“Sorry about that, he is a little shy,” Daisy said, and I just shrugged.
“You have a beautiful family,” I said, and she nodded.
“You are very respectful aren’t you?” she asked me, and I looked at her confused.
“You didn’t ask about my husband or their father,” she explained.
“Well, it’s really none of my business,” I answered, and she nodded with a smile.
“I am a widow,” she explained and then looked outside the window.
“It’s been 1 year three months and 7 days since he die,” she said.
“But whose counting?” I asked and she chuckled at this.
“Yeah, who is counting,” she said and then looked at me.
“I hope that you will have a great life here, that you heal from all your pains. Kids, they tend to heal wounds very easily,” she said.
I touched my belly and smiled; you will heal your mommy but who will heal your dad?
Emma’s pov“Aunt Emma, so when is the baby coming?” Jamie asked me and I smiled.“Very soon, the baby will be here very soon,” I said, and he smiled.“When she comes, will I be able to play with her?” Rose asked and I nodded.“You know Aunt, all my friends can’t wait to meet the baby,” Rose said with a cute smile.“You will meet her very soon,” I said and then looked outside. It’s been 8 months already and I might give birth anytime.I am grateful to Daisy and her amazing kids. But at times I still felt really lonely throughout the whole thing. The one person I wanted next to me isn’t there at all.Flashback“Wait, where is May, everyone where is May?” I asked looking around.“May,” I called out but couldn’t see her.I told the school that a school trip to the busiest part of the city isn’t a good idea. They just had to choose this trip to the museum on such a busy day.“Please, get the other kids into the bus and make sure that they are all in there. I will look around for May,” I sa
Emma’s pov“What is wrong?” Daisy asked me and I frowned.“My water just broke,” I said and watched as her eyes lit up.“Okay, we have this under control,” she said and then started running around.“You have two kids and yet you are panicking like this,” I said, and she looked at me.“It’s your first child, why aren’t you panicking?” she asked me, and I just smiled.“I have packed a bag, and everything is in there,” I said, and she nodded.“I will go and get it Aunt,” Jamie said as he ran upstairs.“Well, I will have to close the shop for the day,” she said, and I shook my head.“Call Sam and ask him to fill in for you,” I said, and she smiled.“Great idea, my brain is all over the place that it feels like I am the one who is about to give birth,” she says, and I smiled.Over the past few months, I have grown so used to them that they now feel like family. We got into the car and drove straight to the hospital. It was a long 10 hours for me, but Daisy seemed to be having an even harde
Conan’s pov“You can’t just sit here and wallow in self-pity,” Bella said.I ignored her and then went back to my work.“She left you, she left even though she was the one who was at fault,” she added.“I am not wallowing in self-pity, I am just very busy and need you to leave me alone,” I said, and she frowned. She then looked around the room and her eyes landed on the calendar on the wall.“What is this for?” she asked and when I didn’t answer she looked at me.“You don’t answer me only when it is related to that girl. Oh gosh, this is 9 months. Have you been counting down the days of her pregnancy?” she asked me.When I didn’t answer her she gasped at this.“Amazing, I wonder what she gave you that you would do such a thing,” she said.“You said lunch right?” I asked her and she nodded.“Thank you brother,” she said as I was taking my jacket. She walked out first, and I looked at the calendar. She will have a child soon; I would have been by your side had you not left.Couldn’t you
Emma’s pov“You should really see the doctor about that,” Daisy said, and I just shrugged.“I will be okay, you should go with the kids,” I said, and Lily walked to me.“Mommy, does it hurt?” she asked me, and I shook my head.“Not even a bit, and Mommy will be going to the doctor today,” I said, and she nodded. She got on the bed and kissed my forehead.“Get well soon Mommy,” she said, and I smiled as I kissed her forehead.“Mom, you don’t have to come with us. I am 17 years old; I will drop them to school and then pick them up. Go with Aunt to the hospital,” Jamie said.“And I am also 11 years old, I think we will be just fine,” Rosie said.“Okay but call me when you drop them off and pick them up,” Daisy said to Jamie who needed. For the past few years, they have become my family. They love me and Lily like we are family and Daisy has become like an older sister.“We were supposed to go last week but you didn’t feel like it. This pain in your chest started a few weeks ago. You shou
Emma’s pov“Well, it seems like you have a hole in your heart,” the doctor said.“A hole, like an actual hole in my heart?” I asked him and he nodded.“Usually, such things aren’t that big of a deal. But yours got bigger over time, it could be because of stress, grief or even a broken heart,” he said.“Well, that sounds bad,” Daisy said and then looked at me.“So, what do I need to do? Surgery or medication? What are my options?” I asked him.“Surgery is the only option in this case,” he answered, and I nodded.“The risks, how high are they?” I asked the doctor.“About 60% ma’am, and we will have to perfume the surgery as soon as we can,” he said, and I frowned at this.“If I wait for some time if I wait for about two months. Will it be too late?” I asked him.“Actually, it might not be fatal but if you wait for two months then the risks might just go up,” he answered.“Why do you want to wait? It’s 60% chance which means that you will make it out alive,” Daisy said, and I looked at h
Conan’s povNo, it felt like I was holding Emma’s hand. That scent, I can never forget that scent in my entire life.I looked at my hands.“Sir is anything wrong with the presentation?” the person who was giving the presentation asked.“No, let’s postpone this for now,” I said and then walked off to my office.Emma, you have always been on my mind in the last few years. But that feeling I got yesterday, it was like you were with me.Gosh that scent still haunts me even today.Flashback“Is the painter lady here?” I asked my assistant who smiled and nodded.“She is here sir,” she said, and I looked at her.She quickly stopped smiling and fake coughed.“Should I tell her to start in your office?” she asked me, and I nodded.A few minutes later Emma walked in with a smile on her face.“Morning Boss,” she said and started looking around.“Would it be okay if I took pictures?” she asked me, and I gestured that she goes ahead.“You really are a big shot. Such a fancy office at such a young
Emma’s pov“Are you sure?” the Doctor asked me, and I nodded.“Yes, can you please prescribe some medication for me. Then we can do the surgery in two months,” I said to him, and he nodded.“No problem, here is some medication. This should help you, but just know that there are a few dietary restrictions as well,” he said, and I nodded.I took the medication and then walked back to the hotel and found them waiting for me.“Okay kids, go in the car and we will see you there. I need to talk to her,” Daisy said looking at me.She took out Jamie’s phone and handed it to me.“Play that video,” she said, and I pressed play.On the video was Conan and Lily.I stopped the video and looked at her confused and surprised.“What happened? How on earth did these two meet?” I asked her and she smiled.“The café we went to, we found him there. Jamie told me that they had the same mannerism that it was scary,” she said to me.“They both walk around carrying sanitizers, they are both really bossy,” sh
Conan’s povAm I dreaming? No, the fragrance of the food and everything seems real. Not only that, but that is Emma for sure, but she also seems different. She has grown now and seems to have this maturity look to her. This isn’t a dream; in my dreams I see the younger Emma. The Emma that I married and fell madly in love with.“What are you doing here? And don’t say cooking, you left years ago and why are you suddenly back now?” I asked her.“What do you want to hear? I could say that it is for love. That I woke up today and realized that I can’t live without you. Or I could say it was because I was bored, I am back, does the reason matter?” she asked me and scoffed.Who is this stranger in front of me? Because I know for certain that she isn’t the woman I married.“Just answer the question,” I said, and she just shrugged.“I am here to claim my rightful place,” she said, and I looked at her confused.“Which is by your side as your wife. I am here to reclaim the rights I have over you
