Emma’s pov
“Aunt Emma, so when is the baby coming?” Jamie asked me and I smiled.
“Very soon, the baby will be here very soon,” I said, and he smiled.
“When she comes, will I be able to play with her?” Rose asked and I nodded.
“You know Aunt, all my friends can’t wait to meet the baby,” Rose said with a cute smile.
“You will meet her very soon,” I said and then looked outside.
It’s been 8 months already and I might give birth anytime.
I am grateful to Daisy and her amazing kids.
But at times I still felt really lonely throughout the whole thing.
The one person I wanted next to me isn’t there at all.
Flashback
“Wait, where is May, everyone where is May?” I asked looking around.
“May,” I called out but couldn’t see her.
I told the school that a school trip to the busiest part of the city isn’t a good idea.
They just had to choose this trip to the museum on such a busy day.
“Please, get the other kids into the bus and make sure that they are all in there. I will look around for May,” I said, and Mrs Jones nodded.
She helped the kids into the bus while I started looking around for May.
When I find her, she will get an earful from me that she won’t ever repeat something like this.
I ran around asking people if they have seen a small kid dressed in school uniform.
“Excuse me, have you seen a little girl dressed in uniform?” I asked a group of men who were all gathered together.
“Miss please go away,” a man said, and I realized that he gave off security vibes.
“Listen, I just want to know if any of you have seen a young girl,” I said, and he frowned.
“I won’t ask you again Miss,” he said, and I just rolled my eyes.
I turned to leave when someone suddenly held my hand.
“Do you have a photo of this little girl?” a guy who was also wearing a suit asked.
“Yes, I think I have a photo on my phone. Please wait for a second,” I said looking for May’s photo.
“No offence ma’am, but why is it taking so long to find a photo of your daughter?” he asked me.
“She isn’t my daughter, we are on a school trip, and I took so many photos of the kids that it’s hard to find one of her,” I answered still looking at my phone.
I smiled when I found the photo and then showed it to him.
“This is her,” I said, and he nodded.
“I didn’t see her, but please show them the photo and they will help in finding her,” he said pointing at the scary guys in suits.
“Find the girl right away,” he said and just like that they scattered.
He isn’t someone ordinary now is he?
“Thank you so much for this,” I said, and he just shrugged.
We also started looking around and I saw May just standing there looking at a statue.
“I am going to kill you,” I said, and she turned around and looked at me.
“Hello Ms Emma, I got lost on the way,” she said.
Her entire clothes were covered in ice cream, she obviously sneaked away to have ice cream.
“Well, I am guessing this is May,” the man in the suit said with a smile.
“Yes, this is May, who is very much in trouble by the way,” I said, and May pouted.
“I will never do it again,” she said with those puppy dog eyes.
“Those only work on an idiot, not on me,” I said and heard an Aww next to me.
The man who was helping couldn’t help but smile as he was looking at her.
“Hey, that doesn’t mean that I am an idiot,” he said, and I chuckled.
“Thank you so much for your help,” I said, and he just shrugged.
“I would anytime. When I saw you, you seemed like a concerned mother. I could have sworn that the daughter you lost was your own,” he said, and I just shrugged.
“She still is someone’s daughter. And I will make sure I tell her parents and her Ice privileges are taken away,” I said, and May frowned.
“But I didn’t even eat any ice cream,” she said.
The guy patted her head and then chuckled.
“If you are going to lie kiddo, the do a better job at hiding it,” he said.
“Thank you again, you must be tired from all the running. Can I buy you something to drink?” I asked him.
He looked at his watch and then back at me.
“Why not?” he asked.
I held May’s hand and went to the nearest café, and we ordered our drinks.
“But I don’t want warm milk,” May said and I glared at her. She started drinking her milk quietly.
“Well, I am sure that you will be a great mother one day,” he said, and I shook my head.
“I guess I will never know,” I said, and he frowned at this.
“Why is that?” he asked, and I just shrugged and hoped that he would drop it.
I looked up and to find him still looking at me.
Now that I am calm and my focus isn’t on finding May, I just realised how handsome he is.
The black hair and blue eyes combo, not only that but he still had a clean look.
He was running around looking for May but doesn’t even have a wrinkle of his jacket.
Do his clothes iron themselves as he is wearing them?
I looked at him, his demeanour is calm but at the same time cold.
As if he is someone you shouldn’t cross at all.
I sighed when I realized that I had been staring at him for too long now.
“I just don’t want to have kids. I mean I do love them, but when at the end of the day they are somebody’s problem,” I explained, and he nodded.
“What if you marry a man who wants kids?” he asked me, and I just shrugged.
“Then I won’t marry him,” I answered, and he nodded.
“What about you? I bet you want kids,” I said, and he nodded.
“A son or a daughter, anything is fine by me. I just want a family,” he explained, and I nodded.
“You look like you have thought of a name for the kids,” I said, and he frowned.
“Weirdly no,” he said, and I chuckled at this.
“If you were to pick a name for a baby girl, what name would you pick?” I asked him and he thought about it.
“I can’t think of one now. But you tell me, give me an idea,” he said, and I smiled.
I am sure his future wife and the other of his child will have more say in it.
But I still have a lot of lemonade to drink, and this will help push some time.
I hate that awkward silence, so I need to fill it with chatter.
“Why don’t we do this? Let’s say the name at the same time,” I said, and he nodded.
“Lily,” we both said at the same time.
“How is that possible?” I asked him and he looked around.
“There are Lilies behind you, and I am guessing there must be a few behind me as well. We said the first thing we saw,” he answered.
The way he answered was so analytical, I would have just said it was a lucky guess.
“It’s a beautiful name though,” I said, and he nodded.
“May I ask why you don’t want to have kids? I understand the reason above. But there must be another reason,” he added.
“Well, marriages these days don’t last. Men leave behind their pregnant wives; I don’t want to parents alone. I just feel like I wouldn’t be able to cope,” I said, and he nodded.
“I understand, by the way my name is Conan,” he said holding out his hand.
“Nice to meet you Conan, I am Emma,” I said.
“Emma, I don’t think there is a man in this world stupid enough to leave someone like you. I hope you find someone who won’t let you do it alone and will be with you every step of the way,” he said.
End of flashback
I looked around the room and I couldn’t help but smile.
I am living my worst nightmare right now; I am doing it all alone Conan.
I know I left; it was my decision to leave.
So, who is stupid here?
Me for leaving, or you for not believing me and pushing me to make the decision?
Emma’s pov“What is wrong?” Daisy asked me and I frowned.“My water just broke,” I said and watched as her eyes lit up.“Okay, we have this under control,” she said and then started running around.“You have two kids and yet you are panicking like this,” I said, and she looked at me.“It’s your first child, why aren’t you panicking?” she asked me, and I just smiled.“I have packed a bag, and everything is in there,” I said, and she nodded.“I will go and get it Aunt,” Jamie said as he ran upstairs.“Well, I will have to close the shop for the day,” she said, and I shook my head.“Call Sam and ask him to fill in for you,” I said, and she smiled.“Great idea, my brain is all over the place that it feels like I am the one who is about to give birth,” she says, and I smiled.Over the past few months, I have grown so used to them that they now feel like family. We got into the car and drove straight to the hospital. It was a long 10 hours for me, but Daisy seemed to be having an even harde
Conan’s pov“You can’t just sit here and wallow in self-pity,” Bella said.I ignored her and then went back to my work.“She left you, she left even though she was the one who was at fault,” she added.“I am not wallowing in self-pity, I am just very busy and need you to leave me alone,” I said, and she frowned. She then looked around the room and her eyes landed on the calendar on the wall.“What is this for?” she asked and when I didn’t answer she looked at me.“You don’t answer me only when it is related to that girl. Oh gosh, this is 9 months. Have you been counting down the days of her pregnancy?” she asked me.When I didn’t answer her she gasped at this.“Amazing, I wonder what she gave you that you would do such a thing,” she said.“You said lunch right?” I asked her and she nodded.“Thank you brother,” she said as I was taking my jacket. She walked out first, and I looked at the calendar. She will have a child soon; I would have been by your side had you not left.Couldn’t you
Emma’s pov“You should really see the doctor about that,” Daisy said, and I just shrugged.“I will be okay, you should go with the kids,” I said, and Lily walked to me.“Mommy, does it hurt?” she asked me, and I shook my head.“Not even a bit, and Mommy will be going to the doctor today,” I said, and she nodded. She got on the bed and kissed my forehead.“Get well soon Mommy,” she said, and I smiled as I kissed her forehead.“Mom, you don’t have to come with us. I am 17 years old; I will drop them to school and then pick them up. Go with Aunt to the hospital,” Jamie said.“And I am also 11 years old, I think we will be just fine,” Rosie said.“Okay but call me when you drop them off and pick them up,” Daisy said to Jamie who needed. For the past few years, they have become my family. They love me and Lily like we are family and Daisy has become like an older sister.“We were supposed to go last week but you didn’t feel like it. This pain in your chest started a few weeks ago. You shou
Emma’s pov“Well, it seems like you have a hole in your heart,” the doctor said.“A hole, like an actual hole in my heart?” I asked him and he nodded.“Usually, such things aren’t that big of a deal. But yours got bigger over time, it could be because of stress, grief or even a broken heart,” he said.“Well, that sounds bad,” Daisy said and then looked at me.“So, what do I need to do? Surgery or medication? What are my options?” I asked him.“Surgery is the only option in this case,” he answered, and I nodded.“The risks, how high are they?” I asked the doctor.“About 60% ma’am, and we will have to perfume the surgery as soon as we can,” he said, and I frowned at this.“If I wait for some time if I wait for about two months. Will it be too late?” I asked him.“Actually, it might not be fatal but if you wait for two months then the risks might just go up,” he answered.“Why do you want to wait? It’s 60% chance which means that you will make it out alive,” Daisy said, and I looked at h
Conan’s povNo, it felt like I was holding Emma’s hand. That scent, I can never forget that scent in my entire life.I looked at my hands.“Sir is anything wrong with the presentation?” the person who was giving the presentation asked.“No, let’s postpone this for now,” I said and then walked off to my office.Emma, you have always been on my mind in the last few years. But that feeling I got yesterday, it was like you were with me.Gosh that scent still haunts me even today.Flashback“Is the painter lady here?” I asked my assistant who smiled and nodded.“She is here sir,” she said, and I looked at her.She quickly stopped smiling and fake coughed.“Should I tell her to start in your office?” she asked me, and I nodded.A few minutes later Emma walked in with a smile on her face.“Morning Boss,” she said and started looking around.“Would it be okay if I took pictures?” she asked me, and I gestured that she goes ahead.“You really are a big shot. Such a fancy office at such a young
Emma’s pov“Are you sure?” the Doctor asked me, and I nodded.“Yes, can you please prescribe some medication for me. Then we can do the surgery in two months,” I said to him, and he nodded.“No problem, here is some medication. This should help you, but just know that there are a few dietary restrictions as well,” he said, and I nodded.I took the medication and then walked back to the hotel and found them waiting for me.“Okay kids, go in the car and we will see you there. I need to talk to her,” Daisy said looking at me.She took out Jamie’s phone and handed it to me.“Play that video,” she said, and I pressed play.On the video was Conan and Lily.I stopped the video and looked at her confused and surprised.“What happened? How on earth did these two meet?” I asked her and she smiled.“The café we went to, we found him there. Jamie told me that they had the same mannerism that it was scary,” she said to me.“They both walk around carrying sanitizers, they are both really bossy,” sh
Conan’s povAm I dreaming? No, the fragrance of the food and everything seems real. Not only that, but that is Emma for sure, but she also seems different. She has grown now and seems to have this maturity look to her. This isn’t a dream; in my dreams I see the younger Emma. The Emma that I married and fell madly in love with.“What are you doing here? And don’t say cooking, you left years ago and why are you suddenly back now?” I asked her.“What do you want to hear? I could say that it is for love. That I woke up today and realized that I can’t live without you. Or I could say it was because I was bored, I am back, does the reason matter?” she asked me and scoffed.Who is this stranger in front of me? Because I know for certain that she isn’t the woman I married.“Just answer the question,” I said, and she just shrugged.“I am here to claim my rightful place,” she said, and I looked at her confused.“Which is by your side as your wife. I am here to reclaim the rights I have over you
Emma’s pov“I will be right back, get a drink and I will be back in a minute,” Conan said, and I nodded. He walked away but then turned back and kissed me on the cheek.“Did I tell you that you look breath taking?” he asked me, and I smiled.“Yes, this would be the fourth time,” I said, and he smiled at this.“Well, you look breath taking,” he added and then smiled again before walking away.I looked around the room trying to see if there is anyone I can socialize with.In Conan’s friends circle I hardly get along with anyone.I could see his sister, but she doesn’t like me at all and all I got from her was a frown. It’s been a year since Conan and I got married and we dated for a year, but she still hates me.Her entire family hasn’t accepted me at all.But my husband loves me more than anything and I am grateful.I watched as Jenna walked towards me.She has made it clear from day one that she was interested in my husband.“Look what we have here. Little Miss Orphan,” she said and

Emma’s povI looked at the falling slow and looked around the small town.Everything was still closed, and I would love a cup of coffee. But decaf, and I am really hungry right now.I haven’t been eating well for days now and I need a proper meal.I walked around the empty streets, in this cold weather people are locked up in their rooms.“You seem like you need a strong cup of coffee,” a woman said, and I looked at her confused. She had come out of a café, “actually, not that strong. Decaf maybe,” I said, and she smiled.“Come in,” she said but the sign said that they are not open yet.“Come on, I can’t let you freeze outside,” she said, and I nodded.I walked in and the moment I walked in the smell of fresh baked food hit my nose.I looked around her shop and for a second I couldn’t understand what it is.It had what looked like a small, cute library and had all kinds of things.Hot beverages and also baked things.“I also sell flowers in spring as well,” she suddenly said.I looked
