Chapter 13: My daughter’s rights

Emma’s pov

“Are you sure?” the Doctor asked me, and I nodded.

“Yes, can you please prescribe some medication for me. Then we can do the surgery in two months,” I said to him, and he nodded.

“No problem, here is some medication. This should help you, but just know that there are a few dietary restrictions as well,” he said, and I nodded.

I took the medication and then walked back to the hotel and found them waiting for me.

“Okay kids, go in the car and we will see you there. I need to talk to her,” Daisy said looking at me.

She took out Jamie’s phone and handed it to me.

“Play that video,” she said, and I pressed play.

On the video was Conan and Lily.

I stopped the video and looked at her confused and surprised.

“What happened? How on earth did these two meet?” I asked her and she smiled.

“The café we went to, we found him there. Jamie told me that they had the same mannerism that it was scary,” she said to me.

“They both walk around carrying sanitizers, they are both really bossy,” she explained.

“Just watched the video and finish,” she said, and I nodded.

I continued the video, and I couldn’t stop myself from crying as I saw it.

The two of them looked so happy talking to each other.

Not only that, but now looking at them I can see that they look alike.

My daughter looks a lot like me, the blond hair, and green eyes but that’s all she got from me.

Her aura and mannerism has always been like that of her father.

Not only that, but she is also lactose intolerant, and I could eat dairy and cheese all day.

They are so alike, and they are comfortable around each other without even knowing who they are to each other.

But he doesn’t believe me at all.

Not only that, but Conan can he unforgiving and at times cold and ruthless.

I have never been on that side of his anger but now I know that he hates me.

He begged me to stay, and I just walked away.

I ran away from everything, so why does she want me to go back into his life?

I can’t ruin everything for him, he is happy and might as well have moved on.

“He is such a rich and powerful man.

Had he wanted, then he would have found you easily and sent you divorce papers.

It’s been years but you two are still married. None of you initiated the divorce which means you don’t want to part ways,” she said and then patted my shoulder.

“Think about it,” she said, and I shook my head at this.

“There is nothing to think about, the past is the past,” I said and then walked out.

I got into the car and when Daisy came in she looked at me and shook her head.

“You are just so stubborn that it is frustrating at times,” she said, and they started driving.

As we were driving my eyes landed on a billboard of Matt.

That son of a bitch was smiling, he is happy while I am suffering because of what he did.

I still don’t know why he did it. How could someone turn my life upside down?

Why did he do something like that to me?

I had always been nice and polite to him.

Then why?

Why go out of his way to mess with me?

He is the reason my daughter is growing up without a father.

He grew up with a loving family.

He grew up with both parents and also all the money in the world.

As for me, someone’s mistake took my parents away from me.

They died in a hit and run when I was just an infant.

And now someone has taken that from my daughter too.

It’s not only Matt, but someone sent me flowers and said Game on bitch.

What game? Who is it that was after me and why?

All my life I had been told that if you do right by people then they will do right by you.

But all I got was nothing but betrayal and lies.

There was another that I really don’t understand now that I think about it.

I was never taking contraceptives.

Conan and I were trying to have a child for months by then.

So why would I take pills that would prevent that?

Then how did the pills get into my system?

Another thing, I know and I certain that I said goodbye to Matt and closed the door and locked it behind me.

Then how on earth did he get back in and why did security allow it?

Over the years that night became clear to me, he didn’t come back right away.

I know that Matt left and only came back after 20 minutes when the drug had started taking effect.

And Matt, he is a rich spoilt kid but where could he get such a drug?

Everything points towards the fact that he wasn’t doing it alone at all.

Then who was helping him?

You know, I could blame everyone else for taking away my daughter’s rights.

But another painful truth is that I am one of those people.

I am the one taking away my own daughter’s rights.

“Oh Aunt, you should have seen Lily with this man at the café today.

The waiter even joked that they didn’t need a DNA test because it was clear that they were father and daughter,” Jamie said.

“Yes Mommy, it was weird. But he was very handsome, and I thought you two would look good together,” Lily said with a smile.

“You are 5 years old, what do you know about looking good together?” Rose asked Lily who frowned.

“I am not a kid; my mind is bigger than that of kids my age. My teachers say that I am a genius,” Lily said.

“Daisy, can you please stop the car?” I asked Daisy who looked at me confused but nodded.

I took my bag and got off the car and then looked at Lily and everyone.

All my life I have been told to run, because I never really had anything to lose anyways.

In the orphanage nothing belonged to you.

Someone would just take your dress and you would just let them because what was the point.

But I am not an orphan anymore, I am a mother and a wife.

“Lily baby, go with Aunt. Mom has something important to do,” I said, and Daisy seemed confused.

“What are you doing?” she asked me, and I smiled.

“Taking your advice, I am going to fight for my daughter’s rights,” I said, and she smiled.

“Good girl, now go and give them a good fight,” she said.

I took a taxi and headed straight to the mansion that was once home.

I frowned as I looked at it, the Hansens usually renovate their homes every single year.

But the mansion looked like it could use a fresh coat of paint.

There was no security guard, and the gate wasn’t even locked.

The flowers in the garden were completely dead and looked like they had been for years.

The grass had weeds and it needed serious trimming.

Conan is a neat freak and can’t even tolerate even the smallest imperfections.

The fact that he comes back to a house like this is truly shocking.

I went to the secret spot and took the key and opened inside.

All the curtains were closed, so I looked around and it needed a little cleaning.

I got started on my work and started cooking and ordered a few fresh batch of flowers.

The house inside was clean but it was just dark and needed a little love and care.

I had groceries delivered since the only thing he had in the fridge was a few bottles of water.

I started cooking and as I was finishing up the door opened.

I turned around and found Conan standing there looking at me.

“Welcome home darling are you hungry. I made some food, go, and freshen up for now and I will dish up for you,” I said.

“What the fuck is this?” Conan asked and I smiled. “It’s dinner silly,” I said with the biggest smile I could master.

This isn’t going to be easy right?
