Chapter 8: Lily

Emma’s pov

“What is wrong?” Daisy asked me and I frowned.

“My water just broke,” I said and watched as her eyes lit up.

“Okay, we have this under control,” she said and then started running around.

“You have two kids and yet you are panicking like this,” I said, and she looked at me.

“It’s your first child, why aren’t you panicking?” she asked me, and I just smiled.

“I have packed a bag, and everything is in there,” I said, and she nodded.

“I will go and get it Aunt,” Jamie said as he ran upstairs.

“Well, I will have to close the shop for the day,” she said, and I shook my head.

“Call Sam and ask him to fill in for you,” I said, and she smiled.

“Great idea, my brain is all over the place that it feels like I am the one who is about to give birth,” she says, and I smiled.

Over the past few months, I have grown so used to them that they now feel like family.

We got into the car and drove straight to the hospital.

It was a long 10 hours for me, but Daisy seemed to be having an even harder time than me.

“Ma’am, here is your beautiful daughter,” the nurse said handing me my baby.

“She is absolutely beautiful,” Daisy said, and I nodded.

This is her; she is a symbol of our love Conan.

A symbol of our love has been born and you are not here.

She is cute, I know that she would have had you wrapped around her little finger the moment she is born.

She is born, our little princess has arrived at this world, and you have no idea.

I am sorry little one, you won’t be able to get your father’s love.

But I am here, I will love you unconditionally.

You are the only thing that is keeping me alive.

I will only live for you and no one else.

“What is her name?” Daisy asked.

Flashback

“Some volunteers will be here soon. Go and check on them,” Mrs Jones said, and I nodded.

I walked out and found them outside as she said.

“Go on in,” I said, and they all followed my instructions but only one stayed behind.

“Hey, you, the volunteer room is this way,” I said, and he turned around.

His eyes widened when I looked at him and he smiled.

“Hello Lily’s mom,” he said, and I smiled as I looked at him.

“Wow, hello Lily’s dad,” I said, and he then pressed his phone and came my way.

“So, this is where you teach?” he asked me, and I nodded.

“Come on, the other volunteers are already headed there. Let’s go,” I said and walked towards the room.

He followed me without a single word, and we got to the room I looked at him confused.

“Are you going to paint in that?” I asked him and he looked at his suit.

“I didn’t bring anything else,” he said, and I thought about it.

“I have clothes you can change into,” I said, and he looked at me.

“No offence, I don’t think your clothes will fit me,” he said, and I smiled.

“Let’s test it out, all you need is to change the jacket and you can wear an apron as well,” I said, and he nodded.

“You came to volunteer, why didn’t you come prepared?” I asked him.

“Well, I didn’t think I would be hands on like this,” he said, and I nodded. I handed him a shirt and he went and got changed.

“It looks good on you,” I said holding back a laugh.

“Come on, let’s go and paint,” he said and then walked to the kids.

I watched as he was playing with the kids and painting with them.

He will make a great father someday.

“Lunch is ready, come kids let’s go and eat,” Mrs Jones said.

I thanked all the volunteers and Conan was the last one to come out.

“Thank you so much for today,” I said, and he just shrugged.

“It was my pleasure,” he said, and I gave him his shirt and jacket.

“Thank you,” he said, and I just nodded.

I watched as he took off the shirt I gave him right in front of me.

I had to look the other way to avoid his staring at him.

“I am done, you can look at me now,” he said, and I turned to look at him.

“I have been thinking about the name Lily. I know you said that you don’t want to have kids. But I think that if you ever have a daughter then you should give her that name,” he said, and I shook my head.

“You liked the name, I think you should have it,” I said, and he smiled.

“I have a solution to this problem. We should just have a daughter together, then we can both get the name,” he said, and I smiled.

“That is a neat solution, but I also have one as well. Whoever has a child first can get to keep the name,” I said.

He frowned a bit and then nodded.

“I prefer the first solution, but even yours works,” he said.

“Mr Hansen, what are you doing here sir?” the principal came running.

“I came to volunteer,” he answered, and the principal frowned.

“Sir, you donate millions to our school. You don’t have to do such little tasks,” the principal said.

Wait, did he just say millions?

I looked at the man, now that I am looking at him and paying more attention he seems rich.

I just thought that he was a very well dressed man who takes care of himself.

“What is wrong with you Emma? Why would you let Mr Hansen work here?” The Principal asked me.

“I am sorry Sir, I had no idea who he was,” I said looking at Conan who just smiled.

“It’s alright sir, I actually enjoyed today,” he said looking at me.

“I hope we meet again, Lily’s mother,” he said with a smile and then walked off.

Why did he come with me? He should have told me the truth.

End of flashback

“Her name is Lily, Lily Cooper,” I said as I looked at my daughter.

I am sorry I couldn’t give you your father’s name.

But you can use my father’s name, Lily Cooper sounds perfect.

The first solution happened, we had a baby together and her name is Lily.

Will you ever get to see her?
